They fitted me with a nice knee brace. I wear it when walking uphill and downhill and climbing steps outdoors.

Priscilla in PreOp was amazing. She has such a warm personality and made me feel very comfortable. The surgical team was great as well, very friendly. Although the interaction was short due to me being knocked out within a few minutes from the anesthesia. Kristine in the 5W Post-Surgical Unit has also been great. She's been so kind and attentive, and I appreciate her. The entire Post-Surgical Unit was great and worked as a team. Overall, I've had such a great experience at John Muir Health. I wanted to give everyone a well-deserved shout-out. Thank you for taking such good care of me!

I want to acknowledge the people who were wonderful: the intake nurse was kind, Kimberly was absolutely amazing, and the security officer was very helpful and compassionate. Unfortunately, one nurse, Megan, completely changed the experience. Megan was passing by and told me I had to wait in the waiting area. I understand that there are policies, but there is a right way and a wrong way to communicate with people. A simple explanation and a little empathy would have gone a long way. I waited 3 hours in the waiting room. My daughter was in pain, on crutches, and crying. She asked to go to the bathroom and couldn't even open the door. Megan, why didn't you help her? Isn't that exactly the kind of basic assistance and compassion a patient should be able to expect from a nurse? My daughter was vulnerable, hurting, and scared. It is absolutely not okay to treat a patient in that condition like she's an inconvenience. Then I had to take an Uber to the hotel to get her medication and come back. I asked security if I could give the medication to her. Megan came outside, asked what medication she was taking, and then said, "I'll order them." Seriously? If you had simply listened to me and explained that from the beginning, I could have avoided making an unnecessary trip back and forth. I also went to the front desk because I wanted to file a complaint and was told they didn't have a phone number for me to call to make a complaint. That is unbelievable. And then Megan told my daughter that her mom could come inside but couldn't be mean to the staff. Megan, we didn't come to the ER for you. We came because my daughter needed medical care. Your attitude, lack of empathy, and the way you spoke to us were completely unnecessary. A nurse is supposed to provide care, comfort, support, and advocacy for patients when they are at their most vulnerable. Unfortunately, Megan was not that at all. My daughter was there because she needed help annot attitude or judgment. Shame on you, Megan. Thankfully, Kimberly showed us what compassionate nursing actually looks like. She listened to my daughter, helped her, and made her feel heard and seen as a patient. I will always appreciate her for that. This isn't about expecting special treatment or asking staff to break rules. It's about basic human decency, empathy, and patient care. You can enforce policies and still be kind. You can set boundaries without making patients or their families feel like a nuisance. My daughter came to the ER because she needed help. She deserved better.

The staff member we worked with was friendly, but didn't seem all that used to dealing with a nervous 4-year-old. Unfortunately, the experience was quite frustrating because of unexpected consultation charges and a long discussion we didn't ask for. Before the visit, I had already researched the typhoid vaccine and travel health considerations for where we're going. I expected a quick appointment to get the vaccines and leave. Instead, we sat through a lengthy consultation covering information we didn't need, despite multiple attempts to cut it short and move onto the vaccines. We were later charged $369 in "office visit / consultation" fees for the three of us, which was not clearly explained before the appointment began. The nurse herself was pleasant and well-meaning, but the process felt unnecessarily drawn out and somewhat like a pitch for additional vaccines. If the consultation fee had been clearly disclosed upfront, or if patients could opt out when they already know what they need, this would have been a much better experience. I'm not sure that's possible, but I hope Passport Health takes a look at the number of low-star reviews here and makes some change to how the operate.

She guided us through my sons heart surgery this year at Children's Oakland. The staff at this site is great too. Friendly and courteous. We've been to Shadelands several times and it's always a good experience. If your kiddo has to have a procedure, I would highly recommend Children's. They understand kids. They understand worried parents. They help guide you. They know the little things count. We were fortunate to have Dr Reddy, one of the best heart surgeons in the country, perform the procedure. No fracture. Shortly after we got a bill for close to $1,000 for the visit. Then MONTHS LATER we got another bill for $867 for the same visit because we were a new patient. We had been to UCSF Benioff with my other child and there wasn't that fee. They were not upfront that there would be a $867 new patient fee when we made the appointment. I have never received a "new patient fee" from any other medical institution in my life. I would highly recommend getting preauthorization before you go to UCSF if possible. OR consider a different facility.

The office didn't have a lot of availability but squeezed me in due to the severity of my injury. Dr. Chandler was wonderful. She was very patient and a good listener and explained my injury and treatment options - she was also familiar with my recent history/visits to urgent care. She had taken the time to look at my file first. I loved her. Plus, she was on-time for the appointment! The office was small and the waiting room was empty on a Friday afternoon. Much better than a room full of people waiting to be seen. I look forward to coming back. New patients are supposed to do a meet & greet before being seen for a medical condition by any doctor, so it was really nice that they let me set up my meet and greet for next week. They went out of their way to help - and she agreed it was the worst type of sprain - my foot will see a specialist next. Very happy with this office so far!

I Got screwed again. Big big surprise. Once again it was…read moretime for refills on my two blood pressure meds so I don't die. Not narcotics, not anything fun, not anything sellable on the street... just regular-ass blood pressure meds to keep my heart working. I called it in five days in advance of running out. 5 days. When calling it in I was given no push back or any notion that my meds would not be filled. Not a single hint. So after the five days when I'd run out of such meds I went to the pharmacy to pick up my refill. And turns out only one of the refills was sent. They had to give me loaner pills so I don't drop dead. What the hell is even going on with this office? Ever since they became Muir medical group I can't get my medicine refilled ever without some kind of giant hiccup! These aren't narcotics. These are blood pressure pills so I don't croak! This is so insane. The doctors here are very good. I love my doctor! But this office is so screwed up and unorganized, unethical, and doesn't care someone could just die without their meds.... I'm looking for a new dr now after several incidents regarding refilling my blood pressure meds. Enough is enough. Again these doctors rule! But the office has ruined their practice and made it completely terrible. I have family members that go here that have had the same bad experience with trying to get their meds. I have had multiple situations where I need blood pressure meds and they've been so nonchalant and just "they will get refilled when they get refilled" with zero worry about my physical safety. I'm done. Everyone in this office should be examined for termination. This place is a cesspool for garbage and unethical employees. Everything is about dollars and healthcare means nothing at all. If you work here You should all really reflect on the type of person you are and really analyze what you're okay with. Are you okay with a normal guy dying from cardiac arrest over a mistake you made involving med refills? You are all just cool with a dude dying of a heart attack. This office is the worst thing of the worst. I urge you not to go here. Again, the doctors here rule!!!! But the office is run by nimrods.
