I go to the Hanger Clinic on Nall Avenue. The staff is always friendly and professional, even though they are very busy. I appreciate their attention to details and their goal to "get it right" the first time. read more

From the easy accessibility entrance to the welcoming staff., I was made to feel like part of a family, respected and not judged., And, I loved the seasonal decorations in the office too. All the staff were so patient and on time. And the office was filled with new technology, which made everything so easy. I greatly appreciate Victor, who fit me for my pathetic he was always professional and kind to me. Bravo Victor, and thank you so much, you are amazing! And finally, the check out procedure was made easy and future appointments expedited, The billing was explained and my insurance claim made very simple. Thank you so much for this positive experience. read more

Got my AFO and it seemed okay when I picked it up but after a day of using it fitting/adjustments needed to be made. Called them and kept getting the call center who was rather rude. Finally got someone and the soonest they can see me was nearly anonth out. I can't believe they don't make provisions for a follow up. Poor service in my opinion read more

Worst customer service! Office staff failed to give me complete information regarding pricing and insurance information on 2 separate occasions after several interactions with the office staff via telephone calls prior to my appointments. My time was completely wasted and the lack of the correct information caused the need to come back multiple times. I was also not informed that I needed to bring shoes that orthotics would be used in. If I performed my job this way, I would be unemployed. It's frustrating dealing with companies that have no respect for my time or money. With that said, the clinician, Victor was very nice, helpful and professional! It's unfortunate that the front office staff does not have the same professionalism or regard for customer service. read more

We were referred to Hanger by our pediatrician at PAMF as our baby's head had a flat spot and he likely needed a cranial helmet. Hosna Sharafi met with us for the initial consultation and took care of us for the helmet fitting, all follow up appointments and in taking the final measurements of our son's head. My husband and I were really pleased with our experience with Hosna through the whole process and the results from our son wearing the cranial helmet. Hosna always greeted us warmly and was flexible when big brother needed to tag along to appointments. She answered all our questions and was responsive via email and text. Hosna helped us schedule our appointments in advance and was encouraging and supportive over the six months that we met with her. I highly recommend working with Hosna at Hanger! read more

This is the worst clinic ever. If your insurance will allow u - try going somewhere else. You will not regret this really important decision. The prosthetic technician lacks good judgement and is poorly trained, the receptionist is rude and unprofessional. read more

Update June 2018: Had another pair of orthotics made by Hangar and these are terrific. The first experience was a poor one but very pleased with the 2nd pair. Make sure you see Cameron - the English guy with the Scottish accent :-) I had a pair of orthotics made by Hanger and they were way too big for all of my shoes. Not too long, that's an easy fix with a pair of scissors. Just way too tall/thick. Not the hard resin, the padding and the spenco cushioning. I had a previous pair, made by my podiatrist that were worn out. I told Hanger that the pair they made me were way too fat so they trimmed them and changed the padding, or so they said. I didn't feel they were any different at all. So I left them with them for another two weeks and came back to try my 'updated' pair. Same result. This went on for weeks. After four visits, I insisted on speaking to the manager and on getting a brand new pair. He was terrific and agreed to my request. Finally, 3 months after my first visit, I had a decent pair! Poor customer service... as everyone else seems to say. Staff are surly on the phone and I think it's because they are treated poorly. Look at the hidden reviews at the bottom of the page - four additional one star reviews and one five star. That means that the majority of their reviews are 1 star. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Yelp should give an option to give ZERO stars to certain businesses and they can start with this one. Reception at the front are no help and rude, the answering service that answer their calls when they can't answer are no help. I've been waiting for a back brace for over 3 months now and calls every week to check for status update or any form of information but nothing can be found by these people. If anyone else knows how to inform people to stay away from this business let me know and I'll be proactive to notify everyone. I don't want to see anyone that has more of a disability than I do go through what I'm going through (I.e, elderly). https://fs24.formsite.com/hangerforms/hangerfeedback/index.html UPDATE: Two hours after I submitted a complaint online I get a telephone message: "The back brace is available to be picked up at my convenience." At least their online service is fast and efficient. read more

I wish that upper management will listen to 1 star reviews here....if you scroll down there are soo many of them and management doesnt care to respond if the issues are ever addressed. I myself went for prescription - jnee support left and right...major knee issues.. 1. May 8 prescription from doctor , i called to make an appointment ,San Mateo branch, for knee support etc.... Doctors office faxed the prescription. 2. first appointment June 3, 2020...almost 3 weeks, i was interviewed, tech took notes, measurements.... at the end "you have to come back because no stock of knee support....i could have gone to amazon! 3. June 18,2020 next appointment to pick up knee support....cant they just mail it? all in all , i have to take some time off twice for such a poor service...overall there is an operational issue that management can do to better serve the public.....unless they dont care...its contracted by our HMO! read more

I was referred to Hanger to get a new lumbar support brace. The facilities are clean and the staff are pleasant. I was in and out in about 45 min., there was minimal paperwork and I was fitted and out the door with my new brace! Tim, my orthotist was very nice and helpful in terms of explaining the types of braces that would work for me. However, they didn't have a very wide selection of back braces and there are very specific types I like one of which they didn't have. I had a bit of trouble finding the location, as it is in the Wells Fargo building on the second floor and there is no sinage of their facility from the street. They accept most major insurance companies including MediCare/MediCal and will file your claim for you. They offer a variety of different prosthetic devices and custom orthotics. Appointments may be necessary, but wasn't in my case for a brace fitting. read more

Personal attention to the customer is always a must rather than dropping off a box of non custom made shoes to correct a leg length difference in the client's hospital room. Not a single measurement or fitting was made to see if it solved the problem. The Rep named Lucas exhibited this lack of attention to the problem and was a worthless waste of time. As result the client contacted another more reputable company. Hanger sucks!!!!! read more

Very disappointing. I am handicapped and desperately needed a leg brace and was referred to them. They spent weeks and multiple appointments contriving a brace. They met me at my physical therapists office, and one of their workers at Hanger, and my physical therapist spent 30 minutes trying to cram the thing onto my leg Without success. How in the world was I able to do this by myself? I had to sit in their waiting room watching videos of a boy who lost All four limbs, running jumping laughing. So they could help him but I was out of luck? They charged me $800 for This brace. I was never able to use it not even once. They sent me to collections. My calls did nothing. It is now sitting in one of their lockers. It was very difficult taking handicap transport And time consuming. I did better with a $3.98 Ace bandage. I doubt taking advantage Of a handicapped person and wasting their time is what Mr. Hanger had in mind. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many negative ratings. We had a very positive experience. We were able to make an appointment the next day, and the orthotic arrived within 24 hours. All the workers were professional and friendly, and we were very satisfied. read more

Unfortunately I had to use this group because my insurance contracted with Hangar. Poor service by front office staff, often losing or misplacing prescriptions from podiatrists. This is big deal, because without the prescription they can't schedule an appointment. The device that was made, didn't follow the podiatrist's prescription (so much for needing a prescription for an appointment) and didn't fit in my shoes. To be served by this group, you need to be proactive and continually call them to be served, especially making sure they received the doctor's order. A couple of hints when using this group: Don't count on a return call from them. I called them during regular business hours, but they turned on their answering service early. Also, it seems they don't return calls from messages left with their answering service. Waited two weeks (and still had to call them). When you receive the device from Hangar, go back to the prescribing doctor to make sure it's what s/he ordered... read more

Not off to a good start with Hanger in Raleigh, NC.... Referred to these folks by the VA - made appointment & they confirmed it - they called next day to change it to the following day which was not possible for me so I said I'd call again the following week - called for 30 minutes past the time their website says they are open before someone other than the answering service picked up - made appointment - arrived early - signed in - waited patiently for 30 minutes beyond the appointed time - left a note saying they were welcome to call me when they could provide a viable time - silence.... I will ask VA for an alternative supplier as these folks do not cut it. read more

I called Hanger multiple times to inquire about an appeals process with our insurance and to determine if we qualified for any kind of discount as a self-pay. I left multiple messages with no response. Follow up was also inconsistent/poor. The clinic staff was very kind and helpful, however overall customer service was poor. We were also not impressed with the results from the cranial orthotic for our son. I would not use this group again. read more

On time. Friendly, professional staff at the front desk. Friendly, professional orthotist. Perfect healthcare visit.

My item was supposed to arrive 3 weeks from the measurement. They called me 2.5 weeks later only to tell me that I'd have to pay 100% of my bill because of high deductible, and that they will be ordering it only now because they weren't sure whether I'd agree to pay. Which means that I'll have to wait another 2 weeks - on top of that 3 weeks I've been waiting already. Their scheduling process works in mysterious ways as well. One day they tell me they are completely booked for another 3 weeks. But when I call a day later - they are magically able to fit me in in the next several days, and they were even able to offer me several other available time windows. Do they have several scheduling systems which are completely independent of each another? Very poor business practices. I'm not coming back. read more

My doc recommended shoes from Hanger. I was measured for them. They made them. They are hideous. The charges were 2,096.00. When I asked how much they are the girl said 200.00. I thought I could use the liner and put them in good shoes. The girl said I had to take the shoes and the liners. They felt like two GIANT BLACK SHOE BOXES on my feet. They are a waste. They are ugly. They are sick. There is a company that uses good shoes and just makes the liner. Hanger tries to reinvent shoes by making them from scratch. Just make a liner for a shoe, Hanger! Don't create a new shoe and justify yourselves and say they are not hideous. I left the shoes on a shelf in the garage. If I wore these shoes I would feel hideous. What a price to pay for hideous shoes. Don't . read more

I have been an amputee for over 20 years and have been through several prostheses, and Bryan Lott built me the best leg I've ever had. This was my first experience with the Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics in Richmond Indiana and they offer the WORST customer service that you will receive anywhere. I went there to be fitted for diabetic shoes. After I was fitted I was only then told by their staff that I needed a "prior authorization" from my insurance company. I immediately called my insurance company who informed me that a PA was NOT required. A week or so later when my shoes came in the Hanger staff then tells me that the in-soles for my shoes require a "separate prescription." They could have told me that BEFORE they ordered the shoes so I could've got the prescription then! So now I have very uncomfortable shoes that I can't wear as I wait on the in-soles from the separate prescription. This is the Worst customer service I've ever seen in my life!!! read more

Never made it to the office. Took 2 days for a call back after leaving my name with the answering service. Then when I actually spoke with someone it was going to be another week before I could get an appointment. So then I called their Mountain View office to see if I could get an appointment sooner there - but then again left number for a return call that i NEVER received. After reading these Yelp reviews I found Anchor Prosthetics & Orthotics in Redwood City, Spoke to a real person Jen and got an appointment the next day. This is going to be a lengthly, but it so crucial you all read this. To start, and always going there for a fractured spine and was working with I Ting. She is just incredilble. A lovely woman and very professional. She was so patient with me all the many times I saw her.I got a back brace from her. So many of these reviews are people have said, it is all true. What horrors. From day 1 the 2 gals at the walk in desk was cold and looked dead, very unhappy with themselves I was at my best like I am,most always, but they never welcomed me, or even asked how I am, no communication. If they stay, they night loose customers, and go to another job, but not in engaging with people who are in bad pain, as I am every day. They don't give a hoot. This is no shock to me for many receptionists are this way walking in but of course not all. These reviews here gave me such validation. Most of these reviews are right on.. and , they are true for them. We all have different issues, but the horror of the welcoming were consistant. I wish I could let the owner of this place know. The front desk,, is in another world. I got to chat with people while waiting and it was very pleasant. in the waiting room. We never shared about the negative reviews here.. We talked about pains sharing why they were there. Rude,Rude rude, the front desk. I could go on and on, but ending this. Not the front, but the professional people who are working there are the best, I ting, Brent is new and kind, and Victor.are the best. I hope the owner knows this., Don't go there, please take my word. Good luck. read more

to be honest I have never received service from them--although i did try. When I went into get a splint for my son i was told i needed an appointment and there were none left for the day. Unfortunately I could not find it in stores only online so tried to call to make an appointment. The only people that answered were from the answering service and this was at 4pm and they were not closed. They took my information and i told them it was urgent and that i had just spoked to the woman at the front desk who told me to call that day if I needed to make an appointment. I bought a $5,000 device (WalkAide) from Hanger Clinic in San Mateo. I didn't know I had other choices of where to get it. I love the device, hate the clinic. This is a very sensitive device (it has electrodes that send signals to your foot to help lift it). I have MS and drop foot. This device needs to be reassessed regularly and the placement on my leg checked, because things move. At first I was able to do this regularly at this location, but since a few months ago they do not have anyone who works with the WalkAide. How can they not have anyone to help you with a device that costs $5,000? Their only suggestion was to go to one of their other locations, i.e. Mt. View or San Francisco. I have MS! I don't drive! I can't get there. But they don't seem to care. I tried to speak to a manager but no one calls me back. Very poor service. I tried to go to another company that sells and helps with WalkAides and is in San Mateo, but since I didn't purchase it from them, they would charge me and it's not covered by Medicare. My grandfather was sent here and they have been horrible since day 1. Unfortunately because of his insurance we cannot go anywhere else. He needed a limb about 4 years ago and they said that he was going to have a temporary one, while the actual one came in. Something hap pend with the insurance and we were sent to another company. We were again refer ed here after two years going else where. The receptionist who's name I;m not sure is extremely grouchy! I was called and told that I needed to measure the width and length of the limb that that needed the prostetic...umm last time I checked that's what we were going for?! The lady that finally helped us was very kind and understanding. She told us that they had sent her from San Diego to turn that place around. Well as of this morning, things have not changed. I called to reschedule an appointment. When they answered the phone I was greeted with a "hello" and was not sure if it was the right place. When I called to change the time, i was told that they were going to cancel the appointment and I was hung up on. Maybe she was in a bad mood, but I don't think that grouchy people should work at a place where people are trying to deal with the emotional stress of a missing limb. I don't recommend this place at all, but if you are like us and really have no other choice...then we deal. read more

I have a 29-year-old son with severe autism. He hates shoes. His doctor referred him to Hanger to find out if this is behavioral, or if he really has something wrong with his feet. I was disappointed that we did not see a podiatrist at Hanger, only a technician whose best guess was that there is nothing structurally wrong with the feet except for a high instep which could make some styles of shoe less comfortable than others, and some mild pronation which would not cause any pain. He offered an arch support for the pronation and took a mold of my son's feet. The molding process did not go well due to John's sensory-tactile issues. So I thanked him and we left. A few weeks later I got a call that the orthotics were in. I didn't authorize them and they will not fit anyway, because the foot impressions were bad. This seems like an insurance racket to me. I'm reporting this to my son's doctor because she was under the impression he would see an orthopedist, not a salesman. On 3-31-14 I received an invoice for a co-pay. Mainecare was billed for this equipment. I am furious and have reported these criminals to Mainecare. read more
