They have always been great taking care of me. I have some weirdo needs with my MS and they always get it right.

We appreciated the time Dr. Fisher spent explaining the options for managing my daughter's recurring ingrown toenails, and it was reassuring to hear that this issue was not caused by how we have been addressing it at home. I did want to raise a concern about our experience during the visit. During the discussion, Dr. Fisher mentioned that ingrown toenails can sometimes be related to weight and stated, while looking at my daughter, that she was "a little overweight," though also clarified that this was not the cause of her toenail issues. Because this comment was not directly relevant to her diagnosis or treatment, it felt unnecessary in the context of the appointment. I also want to share that my daughter has a history of an eating disorder, which we addressed during the summer between first and second grade. Given this background, comments about weight, especially when directed at a child, can have an outsized and potentially harmful impact, even when no harm is intended. Following the appointment, my daughter was crying on the way home and later did not want to eat dinner that evening. This reaction underscores how deeply such comments can affect a child, particularly one with a prior history of an eating disorder. As a constructive suggestion, I would encourage the clinic to consider additional training or guidance for providers around trauma-informed and age-appropriate communication, particularly when discussing weight or body-related topics with pediatric patients. Even well-intended comments can have unintended consequences, and increased awareness in this area could help prevent situations like this in the future. I wanted to share this experience so the clinic can be mindful of how sensitive topics are approached during pediatric visits, especially when they are not clinically relevant to the concern being treated. Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback.
