The traffic in Istanbul is insane so I recommend staying walking distance from the main sights, such as in Sultanahmet. It took us a while to get to the hotel from the airport (almost 2 hours with traffic) but once we were downtown the walk to Hagia Sofia, the blue mosque, and Topkapi palace was 5 minutes, and the grand bazaar around 15 minutes, if that. The hotel is simple but clean, with friendly and accommodating staff that is ready to give help and give recommendations. They arranged a taxi to take us to and from the airport, and we were also able to book a Bosforous tour through them. This was especially nice since it included someone who came to pick us up from the airport and walked us to the boat, in this way avoiding the chaos that is the main port downtown. Breakfast is included and served on the terrace, a beautiful way to start the day. Only downside would be the lack of elevator. Overall a solid choice. read more
