Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The location is great. It's literally across the street of the Hagia Sophia Museum. The Blue mosque and the Basilica Cistern are only a few minutes walk. The room was clean and the staff was attentive. Our room faced the street with some noise from the street car though it wasn't too loud. The included breakfast buffet offered a good selection of different choices. One drawback is that taxis can't drive all the way to the hotel and you'll have to carry your luggage for roughly 2 blocks. The hotel also doesn't have an elevator. read more

If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel with clean rooms and a great staff look no further. This grand old hotel is right in the center of all the historic things you will want to see. You can just walk to all the sites. Their restaurant and breakfast spaces have stunning views of Istanbul history. There is great pride taken by the staff to make sure that you feel welcomed. Excellent location! Directly across from Hagia Sofia, and walking distance to most of the attractions in the old city. Extremely helpful, and sat with us upon arrival, offered refreshments and gave us a overview of the areas attractions, and create a plan for the best use of our 3 days. Even tips on how to bargain in the markets. Hagia Sofia(30tl entry), Blue Mosque (dress accordingly - women cover hair/arms/legs), Topkapi museum 5 min (30tl entry), Spice market 10 min, grand bazaar avg 15 min, tons of restaurants and shops on the way. Directions are super easy as long as you follow the tram line, and you will see all the sites. Breakfast buffet was included, assorted deli meats (no pork), cheeses, drinks, and traditional food (borak, breads), fresh honeycomb, jams, fruit. They give you pillow choices, I like #3 - orthopedic. The room is clean with traditional decor. All staff very helpful, warm, and kind. The roasted chestnuts are awesome, and we ate at many food stands without any belly problems. The museum is closed on Tuesday, so we weren't able to make it- maybe next time. read more

Here in Istanbul for 2nd visit in 15 yrs. The hotel is about 30-40 min taxi ride from airport, depending on traffic. It is a small., but very charming, and very close to major sites in old Istanbul. Few feet from hagia Sofia and the blue mosque. Few steps away you will find the tram station, basilica cistern, and Topkapi palace. Rooms are bit small but has all the old world charm. Nice bathroom with shower_jacuzzi. There is a limited minibar and flat screen TV and a nice antique-ish furniture. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, offering authentic Turkish food, and an open buffet breakfast in a smaller restaurant upstairs. Excellent and very friendly staff who makes excellent suggestions re restaurant, major attractions and just about anything, just ask and they are eager to help. Called me a taxi for my 3 am trip to airport and had my breakfast ready to take away with me :), a nice surprise. Stayed 4 nights and made a reservation already for my next visit to Istanbul in few months. In short: highly recommended, you will be pleasantly surprised by the old charm, excellent restaurant and excellent friendly staff. read more

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for January  19 to 23. We chose to stay in their standard room with breakfast buffet included. We were not happy at all with the room they gave us, even though it is low season. Be aware that there is no elevator and some rooms will be facing the busy street and the tram so from 6:30 am to around 12:30 midnight you will hear tram noise as well as cars and vendors outside. We didn't ask for room change since we went to Cappadocia for 2 days. Also, if you have an early flight, not sure how easy it is to get a taxi from the hotel. Although it's just beside the Hagia Sofia, there's a little bit of a walk and with big luggages and cobblestone road, may be a little challenging to do. We chose to avail their roundtrip airport transfer, which is 50 euros for 2 people. The breakfast buffet is limited and mostly the same food everyday but I will not complain since it is free. Rooms are clean and house keeping make sure toiletries are stocked. The only great thing about this place is location. Hagia sofia, blue mosque, grand bazaar, topkapi, basilica cistern, hagia hamami, and a lot of shops and restos are walking distance. Tram station is nearby as well. I will definitely not go back to this hotel but if they can give you a better room , the experience will be better. read more

Traveled here with my group of 12 and couldn't be happier! The hotel itself is stunning and the rooms are very comfortable and am so happy I chose this small, historic hotel that is steps away from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and much more in famous, best heritage district . Customer relations desk had all answers for everything we wanted and was so very nice. Excellent management, buffet breakfasts, and exquisite Matbah Restaurant made our stay a positive experience in every way. I'll be back! read more

Booked this room through travelocity, based on reviews from traveladvisor, and it was a great deal. Usually in Europe and surrounding European countries, the rating is a little downgraded from US standards, keep in mind, the spaces are much smaller but usually right with all the other ratings, i.e. food, surroundings, grounds, etc. However, they did not note the hotel street was undergoing MAJOR street construction, so no Taxi's were able to drop me off at the front door. The walk to the hotel was merely 50 ft. but still, they should have had that warning. Nonetheless, we were literally right next to the Hagia Sophia, like 10 ft, I could see it right out my window. If you don't like the sound of prayer, then don't stay at this place. You will hear it first thing at 5:30am. I was so tried, I barely heard it. The location of his hotel is very convenient. It's within close proximity of Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand "covered" Bazaar, Underground Cistern, many sop vendors and plenty of eating good eateries. They do have a great Breakfast that is included in the hotel stay and the staff here were excellent. The rooms are fairly decent size, and modern looking with that Turkish feel. read more
