I have been treated for injuries by other hand clinics before, but felt I was more of a annoyance than a patient. That is not the case with Hands For Living. I have been a patient at Hands For Living for 2 years now with multiple surgeries to my hand. All the staff have been incredibly compassionate, professional, timely and friendly. Although each staff has been excellent in my treatment, my favorite caregiver has been Vanessa. She is engaging and lively and competent. Thank you again Vanessa for your guidance in my healing. The clinic is clean and spacious. They interface with my hand surgeon for any updates to my treatment. They also speak Spanish for those clients who do. I wish I could give them 10 stars! I called Hands for Living looking for occupational therapy that centered on hands. I have a neurological disorder that leaves the muscles in my hands weak, and I have a tremor that makes fine-motor work difficult. The person who answered the phone didn't know if they worked with hand tremors or neurological disabilities involving the hands. No problem. I don't expect everyone at a job to know everything, especially in the medical field. The problem was her attitude. She sounded almost surprised that I was asking the question. She acted blown away that someone would call into an occupational therapist's office that focused on hands with a HAND-focused nerve problem. She almost sounded disgusted. When I asked if she had any recommendations for other clinics, all she would tell me is that "I wouldn't even know where to begin to figure that out." Then she wished me a good day and hung up. For a medical clinic that treats people with debilitating medical conditions, the lack of sensitivity when communicating with a potential client was astounding. It's hard enough to find compassion in the medical field, particularly as a woman, but the least they could do is have a little more tact. read more

If you are hypermobile or have a connective tissue disorder like Ehlers-Danlos, this is the clinic you want to be seen at. They also have super affordable cash prices if you are uninsured or out of network, which is a huge bonus. A very professional team that made it easy to work with and guide me thru my "homework" rehab. Shortly after beginning rehab for hand surgery last autumn, I managed to tip over a motorcycle, and so added a broken clavicle and sprained back to my to-do list. Jo Ann coordinated with surgeons, chiropractor, and Medicare, and did a fine job of focusing on the most important issues at each stage of my development. She found ways to combine the exercises I had to do for all three areas of my body, so that my homework sessions were as short as possible. As a result I was able to progress while seeing her only once a week and to graduate in time for the good spring weather. At some clinics therapists multitask - leaving one patient with a machine while they attend to some one else. At Hands For Living the therapists spend the entire appointment period with each patient. This makes for sharp observation, effective problem-solving, and fun conversations. Jo Ann has gathered competent associates and magisterial receptionists in her workplace, and I am confident that, if I make another poor decision in the great outdoors - something I seem to do on a fairly regular basis - I may look forward to time with these fine people once again. read more

I was skeptical at first of therapy but my experience was eye opening, and excellent. I was fearful the thumb crush injury would be a long time healing, but the top notch staff at H F L got me back to doing what I enjoy way quicker than I expected.
