We stopped in here while over in Lafayette last Saturday. I was skeptical when we first pulled up. It appeared kind of small and there was lots of old stuff outside. Once we walked in though, I was pleasantly surprised. They are a decent size place and everything was efficiently organized. The staff was very friendly. The prices were very reasonable. I bought a couple things. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again. read more

Rachel from The Hut wanted to argue and say a Hi Lo Blouse was a dress just so she could charge more money. That thing wouldn't cover my privates but she still arguing just cause! BAD BUSINESS! She let me walk out without getting it. SHAME read more

I've been going to hand up thrift for years and still try to go at least three times a week. You can get plenty of designer, clothes and shoes in bags. If you take the job you look in there 80% below retail I love this place. read more

We came here for the first and last time today. The younger girl working here very rudely yelled at my dad(first to walk in) to check his temperature with a computer screen by the door. This computer is not visible when you walk in unless you immediately turn around. I was immediately turned off by the way she authoritatively and rudely scolded him to do this. No need to be rude. It was out of place for her to talk to him this way and especially irritating considering he is elderly and the kindest person I know. I personally don't agree with the radical mask push or invasive temperature checks, but this business obviously does. So after this girl rudely enforces this temperature check, another couple of people walk in about 10 minutes later. The computer makes a LOUD alarm sound indicating that someone who walked in has a high temperature, and this same girl says "Oh, it's fine. Don't worry about it". IT'S OK, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT? So you YELL at my dad to check his temperature and when someone walks in and your weird computer sounds a loud alarm, you dismiss it? What's the point?? Excuse my French but why the fuck are you enforcing this invasive temperature check machine in the first place if you're going to ignore when someone with a fever walks in? I don't care that they let the girl in- this is America. If you're scared of germs, stay home. But how dare this girl "greet" my dad so rudely and then change her attitude with the next people to this extent? Aside from this, the store is very small and filled with trash. 10/10 do NOT recommend. read more

I was assisted by a young man by the name of Deontae ... what a pleasure it was working with him. He was so polite and helpful. I mean we're talking used goods and he was intent on disclosing the condition of what I was showing interest in. So rare today. read more

Hand Up Thrift - Thrift Stores Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

I have always loved going to the Hut, but during the pandemic I was so pleased to see that they REQUIRED a mask AND took your temperature!! I wish all businesses would do this. Good for The Hut!! read more

I work here and what we are about is what I love the most about Hand Up Thrift. The store it's self is not a non-profit, but all out proceeds go to nonprofits. Three nonprofits that we donate to are very good ones and the money stays in our community. If you've had a bad experience in the past, let me apologize and express that the store and staff have been through some changes only for the good. So in a rainy day or you find that you have some extra time , come make a pass and see what you can find. read more

I'm pretty sure this one lady thinks I'm gonna steal every time I go there, but other than her the employees have always been really great, and they interact with my little boy which I like. I bought a really great working blender there for $8! I love their wide variety of thrift items. They have books and movies and shoes and dishes and picture frames and bread machines and purses, just about anything you can think of. I always walk out of there with several full bags and have not yet spent more than $20. read more
