I've been a lifelong patient/customer of Hancock's, both at the Meriden location as well as Long Wharf in New Haven. They always go the extra mile for their patients and treat them like family. Hancock's excels at advocating/communicating with doctors offices to ensure their patients get the correct medication. They also deliver prescriptions to your home free of charge! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that service! Especially when I was recovering from major surgery and unable to get out of my house. Hancock Pharmacy is one of the few independents left. Chains don't care about you, your health or the medications you take. Once you start taking more medications or are dealing with a serious illness, I sure would want a pharmacy like Hancock's knowing what I take and truly taking an interest in making sure I was taking the best medications and how they interact with each other. The pharmacists at Hancock's are by far the most knowledgeable and go out of their way to help. Loyalty to their customers is their number one priority, of which there is NONE at Chains. read more

Or great, but not bad service. Clerk did little to help me find a knee brace, was zero percent useful in helping me with size. Left and went to Grabers across town, they busted out a tape measure and led me to the size I needed. Btw, if you need xl size, Grabers is the place and the were very friendly. Absolutely ATROCIOUS! We had our vet call in a prescription for our pup who is in pain with a back injury. The initial staff member and pharmacist were courteous and let us know that we could expect to pick it up in one hour. We called back one hour later to check the status before going, and Paul was absolutely horrendous. He said we do NOT take pet prescriptions, after being told by two people (staff & pharmacist) that they do earlier. He was so demeaning, so I respectfully asked to be connected with Dave, the pharmacist who previously told me that I could get the prescription there. Dave said that the owner decided that they actually cannot fill a pet prescription WORD FOR WORD- after being told an hour ago that they could- and then after I questioned why, he hung up on me! I even asked if they thought to call to let us know as soon as they found that out and he couldn't give me an answer. You kept our poor baby suffering for NO reason. 5/9/21 I'd made a personal choice to get the Johnson & Johnson "one and done" COVID-19 vaccination. As much as the government wants people to get vaccinated, they seem to make it pretty difficult and time consuming to get it, especially for those choosing this particular vaccine. I'd about given up on getting vaccinated altogether when a friend mentioned she thought Hancock's Pharmacy had the J&J vaccine on hand. I called to see if they had it, and if so, to make an appointment. The pharmacist I spoke to confirmed they did indeed have the J&J on hand and in fact it was the ONLY one they offered. I then asked to make an appointment and was told they're doing walk-ins! Holy macaroni! That's almost TOO easy after all the BS I got everywhere else. I drove up the 7 miles, walked in, filled out a couple of forms, and abra cadabra, I was one and DONE! They kept me seated for 15 minutes to be sure I had no adverse reactions and off I went. If my part D prescription plan used Hancock's Pharmacy, I'd use them for certain. They even had a better selection of greeting cards than Walgreens or CVS! THANK YOU my local pharmacy! Greatly dissappointed... My husband needed a specific bandage to dress a burn wound that the ER Dr wanted me to get. As some meds, even like aspirin for heart patients, you can get it either by script or over the counter. The pharmacist refused to sell it to me, insisting that it is prescription only. Really upset that I could not care for my husband's wounds as we were instructed to because someone is so ill misinformed. I ultimately bought 2 packages from different sources online. Unfortunately it will delay the treatment by several hours, but nevertheless, it will happen. For a pharmacy, the employees REALLY need to be more knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful. read more

Been here a few times for various items due to their fine selection of hard to find items smaller chain pharmacies do not carry. Each time I've been here the staff is arrogant and rude. There is a blonde woman in the back in the pharmacy section who fought in regards to returning an in-opened/un-used item due to Covid. When I told her the staff member at the front register said I can return the item at the pharmacy desk the woman at the pharmacy desk said "the people up front don't know what they are talking about".... WOW... arrogant and talk about throwing your co-worker under the bus to a customer. I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable behavior in an aspect you look at it, and now I am out $70 for an item that is brand new... nice job Hancock's read more

The staff are friendly and helpful. They have just about anything pharmaceutical, first aid, or surgical you could imagine. That's the plus side. The other side, however, is unusual. I know they're located on a main strip in a city, but you walk into this place and they kinda follow you around, and I don't mean hiding behind an aisle, I mean close enough to step on the backs of your shoes. They seem to be very distrustful of their clientele. All non-cash transactions have to be conducted in the back at the pharmacy counter. Can't help but wonder if that's to keep any "robbers" from shooting anyone "important" in the back. It's obvious they don't want to catch someone stealing, they want to prevent it, period. Not my favorite place to go, but I'll continue to go there when I can't find something I need at their competitors'. read more

Once in a while I go into Hancock's Pharmacy on East Main Street in Meriden Connecticut when I do there's a couple people that work at the register who have been nice and their products have decent prices the only problem I have with that place which is a pretty big problem actually is the fact that they are constantly sending people to follow you around the store every where you step someone is right there no matter where you go in the store no matter how long you're in the store there's either one or two people following you around no matter who you are this is happened to a couple of people I know I've also seen it happen to just people shopping there it happens to me every time I walk in there it's a very uncomfortable which is unfortunate cuz I do like some of their stuff in there and I think that they would have more customers if they didn't send one or two people following you around the entire time like you're a criminal. read more

I give them one star because the staff is friendly. My experience was almost so bad that it was funny. The staff will remember me right away because they where embarrassed by the managers behavior. My Mom was going into home hospice in early June of 2013. My brother and I stopped there to see if we could buy her an electric lift chair to make her more comfortable. We identified a chair that would work and spoke with a young sales person. (He was very nice) The chair was around $800.00, we told the young man we would like to purchase the chair and take it with us at the time, we wanted to get it home to my Mom to provide her with some comfort. The young man said just let me get the paperwork filled out with the manager. he went behind a divider and we could hear him say " I have some people that would like to buy a chair and I need you to fill out the form" The Manager said "they are going to have to wait" The Young man came back to us and said, I am sorry it will just be a few minutes until he can fill out the form. 30 minutes passed by and the young man went back to the manager. This time we heard him say "tell the stupid Bas___ards the are going to have to wait. The young man came back and apologized, the Pharmacist also apologized as she heard the whole thing. We decided to leave without the chair, the next day we purchased the same chair for $200.00 less in a furniture store on RT 5 in Wallingford. My Mom passed away a few weeks latter, God Bless her. read more

The only reason I go to Hancock's is my elderly uncle has prescriptions there and doesn't want to change to another pharmacy. I recently went to Hancock's to pick up items that were ordered by his doctor and nobody seemed to know where to find the items and were confused. I ended up leaving without the items. The times that I have gone there the staff is friendly but they seem a little apprehensive that they are going to be asked something that they don't know. They also need to update their old-time cash registers. I purchased a few items one of which was on sale and the sales person rang up the items full price. I had to show her that one of the items was on sale. She then thanked me for letting her know. That being said, there are plenty of other pharmacies in the area and seeing other reviews they need to step up their game. read more

I was talking on the phone with my cousin and I was trying to figure out what to buy looking around the store . All of a sudden I hear " sir you are being ridiculous, you go to a store to get what you get and leave . That's what you're supposed to do . You're being absurd " . I simply was just looking around ! I can't look around to shop ? He asked me to leave calling me all types of names ! Worst store experience ever . And they follow you everywhere ! That makes me so uncomfortable.
