Lucky for us, we had a busy Turkish spot at the end of our block and decided to try it for lunch on our last day. We got a chicken kebab with garlic sauce and beef with fries and garlic sauce. We didn't expect too much considering it's fast food and that there are hundreds of different Turkish restaurants to choose from in the area. We first tried the chicken kebab and immediately understood the obsession from Berlin natives. It was so flavorful, so juicy, so tender, and went spectacularly with the garlic sauce. The beef was cut into very thin shavings and was so tasty as well. It paired perfectly with the French fries and garlic sauce. We ended up coming back later that evening for dinner. We were missing out on some much needed protein from other countries and couldn't resist the taste of the amazing chicken kebab and beef. I just wish they opened earlier in the morning so I could have ordered some to take with me on my flight home. Füger Imbiss is great, make sure you check them out on your next trip to Berlin.

It's take-out although they have a few sidewalk tables to sit and eat your order. Fugger has a big menu board for such a tiny place, with many good döner choices. I ended up with #14, a huge platter of almost everything piled up along with pomme frites & Berliner Kindl Pilsner. Ask for jalapeños. Tasty way beyond my expectations! The whole platter was devoured. (See my photo for the "before" details.) I forgot to say vierzehn and ended up pointing at the picture on the wall. Brisk not unfriendly service, good, cheap and filling!

I needed a burger. And I needed it right away. So this place was on our way to the train and I jumped right in. This place is very colorful, with strong fluorescent light, and was empty (it was kinda late on a weekday) I've ordered a chili cheese burger, which was ready just a few minutes after. Usually when you order this kind of burger they put like 3 pieces of jalapeños but this guy was putting so many of them in it, big up for that! The burger itself was pretty good, well grilled and nicely served. Sorry there's no picture, sometimes I'm too hungry and just forget :)

The first time I went, I ordered the standard cheeseburger (I think they called it the "Mean Cheese", or some other corny name), and it was fantastic. I also got a side of their thick house fries which were also a piping hot delight. I think I spent about 7 Euros in total including a softdrink. The look of the place is very hip-hop-inspired and the staff was very friendly. Expect to wait 5-10 minutes for your order. They also serve chicken wings, nuggets and vegan or vegetarian burger. The place isn't as packed as Burgeramt usually is, but also great in it's own right. Their specials are also worth checking out; the double-jalapeño-cheddarcheese burger was the bomb.

The ambiance is stark, with a few seats inside a dark interior and a couple of wooden benches and tables outside. This year, I patronized Habba Habba briefly again and had a very negative experience. My daughter and I were heading to a store nearby in Prenzlauer Berg after a long trip from Schöneberg that was diverted due to the Christopher Street parade. She was thirsty, so I brought her to Habba Habba since I knew it from before. I purchased her €2.50 bottle of water with a €20 note. The man behind the counter gave me a €10 note and a few coins: a €0.50, a €2 coin, and what looked like a €2 coin, only with a "5" on it. The rest of the lettering was rather worn so very hard to read in the low light inside. I said to my daughter, "I didn't know there were €5 coins" and almost asked the man about it, but she really wanted to move on to our destination. I put the coin away. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I tried to pay part of my ticket for the Neue Nationalgalerie with the €5 coin only to have the woman at the ticket counter say that the coin was not a € coin! I took the attached images and ran them through Google, and it turns out the man at Habba Habba gave me a coin worth 5 Moroccan Dirham - currently valued at only US $0.51!! So Habba Habba cheated me out of €5! Not a pleasant experience. Despite the food being tasty, I will never go back there. I recommend that if you do go, you count your change carefully - twice. What a distasteful experience.

There is a very small but cute wood terrace a few steps up the sidewalk with only two small tables, from which you can admire the lively Kastanienallee and its people. The food is fast and delicious, my favorite is the halloumi & chicken shawarma. It's not very cheap but hey. You can call beforehand and just pick up your wrap a few minutes later, perfect for a business lunch. It is not your typical oriental food shack where they just throw a shawarma together roughly. (don't get me wrong, I tend to love those places, messy big portions are the best!) The portions could be a tiny bit bigger.
