Epic new and used book store! Make sure to check out their local Hawaiian book collection. The most western bookshop in the USA.

Absolutely loved this night market! The shops, art galleries, music, and stalls all had great products and it was so nice to browse and feel apart of this community event. I especially liked the bookstore, spice shop, and enjoyed some really tasty Thai food (pad Thai, curry, and Thai iced tea). We came here after a boat tour in Port Allen and had hours to kill before our flight home. Yes parking is busy but we easily found a spot a block away. I saw portapotties in the market so perhaps they've resolved the toilet issue as mentioned in other reviews. There's also a nice one in the spice shop. I'm so glad we were able to stop here, it was a wonderful experience.

It's the most happening event on the island a lot of food trucks restaurants people lining the streets good way to try out some local food that gets crowded so park at the first spot that you see once you turn on to hanapepe. I tried r The pizza at the café bakery it was way too expensive It had a dough though but the tomato sauce was way too sweet five dollars a slice very expensive however the bread in the store looked great. A place to eat bad food and buy bad art the coolest thing is to walk across the hanapepe bridge. A must when in Kauai. And if anyone knows who lives in the house once you cross over the bridge please let me know WIGB? Yes

So much good food! Also the swing bridge is a fun tourist attraction. The only the that was difficult was the parking, so get there early!

Lydgate Farms - 70% dark chocolate. Totally changed my mind on not liking dark chocolate!!

This was such a special way to spend a morning on Kauai. The Lydgate Farms grounds are stunningly…read morebeautiful & your appreciation will only increase as the tour progresses. Our tour was led by Henry, who was equally knowledgeable as he was passionate about all of the plants & flowers. He clearly had a passion for chocolate and the mission to educate visitors. We were introduced to the cocoa trees (the process of growing and maintaining the orchards), vanilla vines, ginger plants, allspice trees, cherry and guava trees to name just a few. He informed us on what was edible from the trees. The "pit stops" were interactive, fun & most of all tasty. We got to sample a whole variety of exotic fruits from the farm & a wide range of chocolate during the chocolate tasting. I don't think I will ever be able to think of chocolate in the same way again. How lucky we are to have this farm working so hard to not only bring the craft of chocolate creation to more people but continuing to mindfully curate this bio-diverse plant sanctuary.

We did the 3 hour tour of the farm on our recent trip to Kauai (August 2026). My main takeaways…read moreare: - The staff is extremely friendly and they all go above and beyond to be accomodating - The tour could easily be completed in 60-90 minutes and it's struggling to be a farm tour combined with a tasting tour and it fails at being either of them - The farm tour could be self-guided and completed in 15 minutes - The tasting tour has very few chocolate products to be a real tasting experience (they do have some fruits as well) - If you're into chocolate and know a lot about cacao, you can safely skip this as 100% of the products you'll taste have sugar - For a tasting tour, I expected to see 100% cacao only (don't care about tasting sugar or milk), roasted (different temperatures), unroasted, different crops, years, etc. Overall, it's an interesting experience if you've never been on a farm or a tasting tour before and you don't know much about chocolate.

As you're driving into Koloa, you'll notice what looks like a giant Tylenol on your right. Step…read moreinside and you'll see that it is a monument which commemorates the different ethnic groups who immigrated to Kauai during the boom of the sugar days - the Chinese, Filipino and Japanese as well as Portuguese and Africans. Each of them contributed to the tapestry of the culture, history and cuisine on this island. Take a minute inside. This is very cool.

The Island of Kauai had a long run producing sugar cane, but that has faded along with the government subsidies. Now, the island is seeing the land being converted to coffee plantations. But back in 1965, this site of a former Sugar Mill was designated as a Historic Place. 20 years later, this monument was built to commemorate the history of the area. The monument includes contributor plaques as well as six informational plaques that tell all about the sugar industry and local history. But the eye-catching focus of the monument is the full-sized depiction of numerous sugar mill workers cast in bronze by artist Gordon Fisher in 1985. The native people are shown performing certain tasks, some standing, some seated. It is a beautiful piece dedicated to capturing the look of the island people at the height of the sugar trade.
