    Bee's

The owner is very knowledgeable and loves to share her knowledge of Bee's & the importance of them. The tour was hands on & at no time did i feel scared or threatened by the Bee's. The tour was done at an enjoyable speed & I was able to fully enjoy the whole experience. I felt like i was at home with how comfortable i was made. The Tasting at the end was the cherry on top, we even shared our tasting with 1 of the Bee's we observed. Everyone & everything works in total harmony on the site. This is a MUST DO for individuals, couples, & even families. Owner is a supporter of Military & Locals. The Chili Honey was Amazing!

Treated the family to a tour at Hanai Hives for a birthday celebration and as a first stop on our apiary journey after purchasing two hives for Christmas. We had a wonderful time and learned ALOT! Katie was amazing, very knowledgable, and answered every one of our questions. Cannot recommend this hands-on experience enough as a family-oriented, learning, and memory making opportunity! We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the beautiful property, the whole experience, and we made a new friend!

Katie and her team were absolutely amazing during our tour today. We had a pretty big group including a toddler and they were so accommodating. Even though our toddler got tired and a little cranky they continued to be sweet and encouraging for her and didn't make us feel bad. The tour was so informative and yet fun too. Katie is truly passionate about her beekeeping and she has clearly passed that passion on to those who help her. She took pictures of everyone in our group and shared them with us at the end when we sat down to enjoy some of the honey with a beautiful charcuterie board and some ice cold water at no extra charge. This is an activity that seems pricey on the surface until you experience it. It was worth every penny!! Thank you Katie for an amazing experience!!

Fantastic private tour! We learned so much about the bees, the honey, and the trees on property. Started of with a property tour and the suited up for the bee houses. Katie obviously takes so much pleasure and pride in her work and sharing her knowledge. Tour finished with a charcuterie featuring three kinds of the honey prepared from her bees. Shop on site to bring home the honey and other goodies. Was such a unique find for us this visit to Oahu.

We got hands on using smoke & learning about why beekeepers utilize smoke

Booked a visit not really knowing what to expect and we left full of smiles & an amazing experience that we will never forget. We were greeted by Katie then her helper Trinity took us on a tour of the property, gave us some knowledge about the area, plants and explained lots about bees & their habitat. We got suited up & were actual beekeepers! Katie was amazing!!! We all got a hands on learning experience and a newfound respect for everything Bee related. Our experience ended with a beautiful honey tasting that was perfect! I would 1000% recommend this for anyone with little kids, homeschoolers or adults that want an experience "out of the box", it was really a great outing.

We highly recommend this personalized opportunity to appreciate nature! Our 'ohana experienced Hānai Hives with friends as a homeschool field trip on the lush property. Hānai Hives recently purchased beekeeping suits large enough to fit our very, very tall 'ohana. We felt completely at ease to suit up for a hands-on check of the welfare of one hive to observe the inner workings of the healthy hive, including finding the queen at work. Hosts Aunty Katie and Trinity were generous with their time, their knowledge of the art of beekeeping, and they explained the beneficial community stewardship offered by their Adopt-A-Hive programs. We were refreshed by a honey tasting at the end of our visit and were pleased to offer our sticky serving platters and plates as a snack for the bees (no honey wasted!). We bought yummy jars of the chili infused honey and cinnamon vanilla honey. The only downfall was the road construction near Haleiwa town that delayed us, so bring patience and allow a cushion of extra time to arrive safely -- it's worth it to reach the Hānai Hives garden serenity on the North Shore.

Gonna echo a lot of the reviews already here. Katie was fantastic and it was really easy to find the location. Katie is really connected to the area and to the land and bees around the Island. Also love that she is an advocate for beekeeping and helps others around the Island pick up the torch. Of course we were able to purchase some delicious honey from Katie after the experience and will stay connected. If you are interested in having a closer connection to the Island and to bees and what they do, this would be a great experience.

Came to Hānai Hives to celebrate a wedding anniversary! Katie and her apprentice Trinity were so knowledgeable and truly went above and beyond. They provided everything to gear up and have a safe experience handling the bees. At the end of the tour and demonstration we were treated to a lovely charcuterie spread with honey tasting of course. Thank you so much for the attention to detail and unique experience!

I had such a great time at Hānai hives. It was really nice to learn about the workings of the hives and behaviors of bees in such a beautiful and intimate environment. So nice not to have crowds of people. All my questions were answered and I never felt rushed. The honey tasting was wonderful and I wish I could have stayed eating honey and cheese under that beautiful tree for hours. You must book a tour here. You won't be disappointed. The cinnamon vanilla honey was to die for!

Katie was an excellent host! She gave a tour of some of the plants and trees on her property. Lots of fruits. She made sure we were safe and comfortable around the hives. It was great to be around so many bees safely and have an opportunity to observe them. We got to see the queen! The honey and snacks afterwards were delicious. The honey had so much more flavor than the ones bought at the supermarket. Highly recommend if you have kids. Just make sure you wear long clothes or use mosquito repellent. They had a feast from me.

My family did the HĀNAI Hives farm tour and had an awesome time! Katie is not only super knowledgeable about bees and their world but she's also WONDERFUL with children. My very curious and energetic 5 year old was so excited to learn everything about bees and honey and Katie was so patient with all his questions and moving around to touch everything he could. Katie's property is so beautiful, especially in the morning, with the sunshine peeking through the fruit trees she has growing on the property - perfect for the bees! Enjoyed every minute of seeing the "farm", getting dressed into a bee suit to see the bee hives, and the fun honey tasting at the end. Highly, highly recommended! (P.s. We loved spending time with Katie so much, my husband signed up for her host-a-hive program!!)

I found out about Katie and her company HĀNAI Hives nearly 2 years ago when I reached out to ask about mentorship for bee keeping. She was just getting this side of her business going and I am so glad I had the chance to learn from her. At first I didn't know if I would even like bee keeping and I wanted to know if it was something I would enjoy or could even do some day. Well since my first meeting with her and your of one of her apiaries, I was hooked! Katie is an amazing person who took the time to teach me so much about bee keeping and the different program levels that she offers allowed me to not have to buy any equipment, bee suit, or even the bees which was great because I had no idea about any the quality of the equipment, what sizes would fit, or even the different types of honey bees! I think one the best things about the mentorship program and just working with Katie is her patience and love for her job and it shows in everything that she does. I was able to bring my wife and 6 year old son with me on many occasions to join me in bee keeping. Which was truly a blessing to do this as a family and have them enjoy the bees with me. She was always super patient with my son, who loves to explore and check out everything he can and is always trying to hold the bees! Katie always worked around my schedule and encouraged me to come to the apiary as often as I could to continue to learn and hone my bee keeping skills. After a year of mentorship the sweetest day was harvesting honey! And that honey is the best honey I have ever had! I highly, highly recommend her if you are interested in keeping bees one day! She also offers tours of her apiary and participating in events in her local community to help spread awareness of saving bees.
