As much as I love going to Costco and seeing all their products and what's out there, I don't…read moretypically have a good experience with the customer service representatives or the people at the checkout counter or even just the general workers. I always feel like I am being a hassle by simply existing or needing to check out. They always seem super stressed, and I'll be at there extremely busy so I cut them some slack, but I just feel bad if I ever have any questions or anything like that because they make me feel unwelcome. Don't get me wrong, there are still some that are very kind, but I just think that this location is too small for the amount of customers who go in. It's almost always insanely packed to the point where I have to park at the neighboring stores

Man, I do generally love Costco, even though of late they just seem to keep taking things away from…read moretheir members. It started with sauerkraut on the hot dogs, and has since expanded to what I considered to be a core benefit, the well-priced propane tank refills. There also used to be a recurring deal around Black Friday for a heavy discount on NY Strip or Beef Tenderloin (for the whole portion, where you have to cut your own), and no more take and bake pizzas? Come on y'all. Help us out. Still, my membership is easily paid for every year in just gas alone, among many other things where they just can't be denied. This location in Apex, definitely not my home location, and I'm going to go ahead and be very thankful for that. I happened to be in the area on my way back to the Triad and needed gas, which turned into a WHOLE THING. This was a Saturday, and yeah, Costco on a Saturday is generally very busy. Expected. But this place was total gridlock. You could not move in certain spots, because traffic is not effectively funneled onto any kind of main thoroughfare through the parking lot. Whoever designed this parking lot needs to be forced to exist in it and instantly regret all their choices. The Costco gas station, is at the epicenter of the nonsense, and that makes it even worse of a problem. All told, I would have happily paid 30 cents a gallon more at any other gas station on my route. I didn't know this would be nearly a half hour detour. Not a mistake I'll make again. There has to be a way to improve this situation.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS AT THIS STORE! They will not even attempt to correct an error on their part…read more Quite the contrary! I stopped here yesterday morning (04/02/2026) on my way out of Apex to buy five $10 gas cards for prizes at an Easter event this weekend. I took five blank gift cards off the display and handed them to the clerk. I took EXACTLY $50 out of my pocket, counted it twice in front of the clerk, and placed it on the counter between myself and him. There was one $20 bill, two $10 bills, and two $5 bills. I thought the clerk would simply scan all the cards for $10 each, charge me $50 and off I would go. I had purchased other types of gift cards from other businesses over the past week, and that was the how it was done. The procedure at this store was different. The clerk had all the cards. He would scan a card placing a $10 value on it, and hand it to me to swipe in the card reader to load it onto the card. Then, I had to give the card back to the clerk, which he would scan again and hand back to me as completed. The first card scan went smoothly, but when swiping the second card, the reader would show, "card error." I had to swipe it a couple times again before it loaded the $10. When trying to add the third card, the reader again kept displaying "card error", so the clerk just cashed it out at the $20 and removed the $20 bill from the pile of bills on the counter. He held it up to me to show me and I nodded in acknowledgment. Personally, I didn't care for it, but it was fine at the time. He handed me the two completed cards, and I set them to the right of me to keep things organized. We followed this process with third card. When it loaded, the clerk took a $10 bill from the bills on the counter. I made note of it, and when the 4th card finally loaded after a few attempts, I tossed him the second $10 bill from the bills on the counter. The clerk had one blank card left and there were two $5 bills remaining. It was all good at that point. That's when the clerk said I still needed to give him $10 for the last two cards that were completed. I told him that he got it....that he took a $10 bill and I gave him the other $10 bill. He replied that he only took a $20 bill earlier and that he showed it to me. I agreed and said, "but you also took one $10 bill and I handed you the second $10 bill." I pointed out that there had been exactly $50 dollars on the counter. I also pointed out that there was only one card left to scan and two $5 bills on the counter. I didn't feel that the clerk was lying. I was just thinking that he did not recall taking a $10 bill from the money on the counter. I could not actually see the register for all the display on the counter top, but I thought he may have been setting the bills aside and hoped he could readily see the money he had collected. Whatever the case, he wasn't interested in checking. I told him, "Believe me, your drawer will balance at the end of your shift." He didn't say anything. He took the fifth and final card, scanned it, and handed it to me to swipe just as we did the others. I swiped it to load the $10 and handed it back to him to complete. He scanned it the second time as if to complete it, and handed it to me. I handed him the two $5 bills. I smiled and thanked him as I headed towards the door to leave. As I was leaving, the clerk called out to me, "Miss, here's your receipts." I went back and he handed me two receipts. I thanked him, again. A few miles out of Apex, I looked at the receipts the clerk handed me. Each of them totaled $20 for a complete total of $40. Yet, the clerk had given me 5 cards. That is when I realized that rather than resolve the matter of discrepancy, the clerk went through the motions of selling me the fifth gift card. Rather than complete it with the second scan, he deleted it, and gave me back a blank card. That deception itself was wrong. Plus, I had been ripped off for $10. I've tried to contact the manager to talk to him about what happened. No one answers the phone. You can tell by the way it disconnects that it is intentional and automated. I contacted the corporate office and asked them for a working number. The store does not answer the phone. Corporate asked me to send them my receipts and images of the gift cards, but all that proves is that I spent $40 and received $40 worth of gift cards. It does not prove that I paid $10 cash for a card that has no money on it. So, I asked them to request camera footage from the store in the hope that they would see exactly what happened at the counter. Corporate told that they could not do that. Check out the other reviews on Google. If you need gas and are in their area, I recommend you do business with the Mobil station right next door. If my post protects one person by sending them to another store, then it has done what it should. May KARMA protect many more!
