Oh boy, this place really needs a makeover! We stayed overnight after a long, long drive on the way to a hockey tournament. After driving for hours we needed to rest and we trusted the Hampton Inn name. Nope! The good: Plenty of parking, by a McDonalds, utilizes digital key, offer breakfast and to go breakfast bags, staff are friendly The bad: Carpet is bucking in halls, beds are unbelievably uncomfortable and have that "spring" feeling, mold in bathroom, outdated, dirty This hotel needs a serious makeover! I would not stay here again. Drive the 30 ish minutes to the Hampton Inn in Beckley, WV. Much better. read more

A nice place to stay in Summersville This multi-story hotel is located at the intersection of 41 and 19 sandwiched between the McDonalds and Lowes. It is a very nice hotel to stay in for this area. There is parking all around the building. The entrance is a covered portico with a desk as you enter on the right and the eating area on the left. Check-in was easy and the staff was very nice. In fact they got us a sewing kit when we needed it for wedding repair. There is a pool but it was covered over when we visited. The room was very nice. With a King bed, seating area, large bathroom and good desk space. The decorations in the room were nice. There were no closets but the back wall had an interesting hangar arrangement that seemed to work well for hanging items up and allowing maximum visualization of your items. The desk had a nice charging arrangement on the side nearest the window. There is a workout room on the first floor between the front desk and the elevators that is open from 6am -12 pm right off the front lobby. It has a recumbant bike, treadmill and another cardio machine. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay in the area at a reasonable price. read more

If you have to stay in Summerville, which city isn't the best to be caught having to stay in, you can't do much better than Hampton Inn Summersville. Like all Hampton Inns, the rooms are clean, breakfast and Wi-Fi are included, and the staff well trained, friendly and polite. The best thing about Hampton Inn Summersville is that it is located close to the strip mall, shopping centers and restaurants though you won't find any significantly good restaurants in Summerville; well, that is to say I never have and I've been to a lot of them. read more

Stayed one night. Everyone was polite and helpful. The hotel is nice and clean but the beds were hard and crunchy.

My friend and I checked in late one night after we couldn't drive to our destination any further. They had a room available, and we went right up. Getting off the elevator, the floor immediately looked like we took a time machine back to the 1990s. It definitely needed updating. We went into our room, and again it looked like an old 90s room that really needed a makeover. The tv/remote in our room wouldn't work- we could only watch the weather channel. We called down to the front desk and a lady came up to our room with another remote. She tried to work the tv, yet it still wouldn't work. She gave us a new room, so we had to move all of our stuff to the new room. Definitely a pain in the butt after driving 6 hours straight when we just wanted to relax. We wanted to leave early the next day so unfortunately we missed the breakfast at 6am. I wish hotels put out granola bars or fruit for the early birds! The room rate was $116 but they had a AAA discount so it brought the cost down to $100(took the cost of tax off basically). Would I have paid $100 prior for staying here? No. But I wanted to give my friend who drove a rest, but it was definitely an odd experience that reminded me why I dislike West Virginia. read more

I have to give a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to Darrell and Linda at the front desk! After being in the car for nearly 10 hours my 1 year old toddler decided she had had enough and began screaming inconsolably. At 10pm she was supposed to be sleeping in the back and allow me to drive the 2 more hours to Morgantown where I had already booked a room. I pulled off into the parking lot of this particular Hampton Inn, called from my car to inquire about a room. It was too late to cancel my room at the other hotel and I didn't want to have to pay too much for a new room. After 20 minutes of parking lot contemplating while pacing with and shushing my toddler, I decided the best thing was for her to call it a night, in a bed. I entered the lobby with my screaming baby and I could tell Linda, a new employee, had already explained my situation to her counterpart, Darrell. Darrell proceeded to assist me in booking a room and matched the rate of my reservation at the other property. Additionally, he called the other hotel to try to assist in a special circumstance cancellation. Although, he was unsuccessful, I very much appreciated his effort. Thank you to Darrell and Linda for going above and beyond to help a tired, nearby in tears Momma and her worn out, frustrated toddler. You were a life saver tonight in the midst of my road trip! An older Hampton... hence the teal and pink walls. Visited with a group of friends when rafting the Upper Gauley several weekends ago. Would I visit again - yes. The Complimentary Breakfast was sub-par , in comparasion ot the other Hamptons i've been to lately. However, with the AAA rate - this was a bargain. read more

This hotel appears to be recently renovated. The rooms are very nice, as is the lobby/breakfast area. As an older structure, the rooms are a bit tight for all the furniture they put in them. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast was your usual Hampton Inn fare. I reduced the rating due to the pathetic excuse of wifi. The staff did everything they could to help, even moving us to a different room. However, they admitted that the wifi upgrade over the summer never happened. Expect little to no coverage in some areas and very slow speeds. This is unacceptable for a hotel chain that routinely advertises their wifi on billboard, tv, and internet. It's a good place for a stop in Summersville though. read more

This is a good hotel, conveniently located near stores and restaurants. The hotel itself is a bit older, but the rooms are cleaned well, the beds are soft and the sheets are fresh. The bathroom is ok, a bit dark and the shower looks a little dated. You'll see general wear and tear. I thought the complimentary breakfast was pretty decent. My only big complain is that the evening front desk are not that attentive. You'll call the front desk and may not get a response, or they'll tell you they're too busy to drop something at your room for you. The morning front desk people also are not around 24-7. It can get annoying. Otherwise, this is a good location to be near the lake, and not too far from New River Gorge. read more

We stayed mainly because they are pet friendly & we had our 2 small dogs for the trip. Location was in a quiet section where you can safely walk your pet even late in the evening. Stores are close by; lots of green space for the pets. The staff was friendly; breakfast was hot and filling - good Spanish omelets, bagel toppers, oatmeal and waffles. There was plenty of fruit and yogurt, too. Very clean and spacious bathroom. We stayed on main floor near the back exit so it was no problem taking the pooches out for a walkabout. Pleasantly surprised at this location & will come back again! read more

Very dated and pretty beat up room and bathroom. We should have walked out as we got into the room. $120 for the night was way too steep given the rundown state of things. Not up to par at all with my expectations for a Hampton Inn which I generally expect to be nicer than the bargain inns. I would pass on this one. read more

This is one of the older Hampton Inns, but it is kept up nicely. Breakfast was average, they closed right at 10:00. It is dog-friendly, so you hear an occasional bark or two. They wash the comforters which is an added plus for us. It is reasonably priced. Staff was friendly. Overall, I've been to better hotels, but this hotel is perfect for a one or two night stay. read more
