Great stay! Motel is clean which is always a good thing! In a rural surrounding, it is easy to get to from the interstate and the grounds are well kept The check in desk clerk was not the friendliest guy in the world but guided us to a great restaurant in town. I stay at a lot of Hampton Inns in my business travels. It's a mediocre branch of Hilton, with some 5 star properties but few low end ones. This lies in the middle. The building and amenities are dated, perhaps it was once a Quality Inn. There were stains in the bathtub and on the wall, and the A/c unit is definitely on its last legs. Breakfast was very typical of the mundane offerings at most Hampton Inns. They are cutting costs on quality and it shows. Most of the time I just grab cereal, this property is seemingly too cheap to offer bananas. Anyway, I'd stay here again in a pinch, but would rather utilize a different Hilton property if I need a room in the area in the future. read more

I stay at Hilton properties at least 4 times each month. This Hampton Inn was a big disappointment. Is it too much to ask for a room that has working lights and tv? The first 3 rooms I was given did not have either. Instead of fixing broken lights they seemed to pull them out of the wall. The tv sets didn't turn on and the first one was really smeared and cloudy. While there were two elevators, only one is working. And that one was slow and making questionable noises as it moved. Also, when I tried to call the front desk, it just rang and rang. So I had to go back to the desk each time. She said that sometimes the phones don't work. I'm sure the front desk clerk was frustrated with these problems, but she wasn't exactly the picture of customer service excellence. I will not stay here again. read more

I rarely write reviews, but my stay at the Hampton was disappointing enough to warrant one. From the moment I arrived, the experience was far below expectations. The first room I was assigned had a stained tub, dirty carpet, and a visibly soiled upholstered chair. I immediately requested to be moved. The second room was cleaner in appearance, but the problems continued. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and the bedding was so thin it offered no warmth. When I turned on the heater, it emitted a strong burning smell that made me fear it could catch fire, so I had to turn it off. I ended up purchasing a blanket from a nearby store just to stay warm. The sheets also had an unpleasant smell. The in-room phone had no directory or instructions--no indication of how to reach the front desk or reference my room number. The TV only worked if you pressed both the side power button and the remote at the same time. The lobby had an unpleasant odor that hit as soon as you walked through the doors. The elevators were also painfully slow, adding to the frustration. I attempted to update the card on file and experienced even more issues. No one answered the front desk phone, and the online live chat went unanswered. When I finally reached someone, the staff member seemed confused about how to update the payment info but said they would figure it out. Upon check-out, I received a receipt that simply said "Paid" without listing which card had been charged. My gut told me something wasn't right, so I checked both of my accounts--sure enough, both cards had been charged. I had to call the hotel again to request a refund and was told it would be processed in 2-3 days. This was by far the worst hotel experience I've had. Between the cleanliness issues, lack of basic comfort, poor communication, billing errors, and the general state of the facility, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. If an option for zero stars, that would be a more fitting option. read more

We came down from California to photograph the eclipse. All 3 days Sunny made our trip wonderful. The weather was not so accommodating however what could have been a disaster turned into a stay to remembers. Yes it was a fabulous and Sunny time The room was clean and kept fresh by friendly staff. The maintenance guy was even a true pleaser as he went out of his way to greet us and make sure we were taken care of.sunny even put together a welcoming package with a moon pie and sun chips! I have stayed at Hampton Inns at other locations so kind of knew what to expect. Started off bad in which I had selected my room and digital key since I had been driving all day. The digital key did not process so I checked in at front desk. I was told that the room I had selected was not cleaned which is why the digital key did not process. The on duty manager did have them check to see if any rooms in the area I selected were clean but none were. They did find a room on the next floor above the room. I chose the room due to it is shielded from most noise of the truck stop across the road and the interstate. The room was clean and only missing tissue box for a runny nose so toilet tissue worked fine. Walk in shower, lots of hot water and the standard breakfast for the Hampton Inn. Just one night stay and would probably stay again if I had to travel back to Ohio again. read more

We've stayed at this hotel a few times per year for he past several years when visiting family. However, we won't be staying here again. I just called and spoke with Rohan (spelling?) and learned that they never (under any circumstance) do late checkouts anymore. The latest possible time to check out is 11am. I stay at Hampton Inn's all over the country and have never been denied a late checkout in advance or heard of a Hampton Inn that never offers late checkouts. There is a newer Holiday Inn Express in the area we will be staying in from now on when we go to this area. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of customer service. I am a diamond member, so I stay at Hampton inns almost exclusively and often. On a Thurs, I booked a room for one night that coming Sunday. My plans changed and I cancelled the room using my company's travel software on Friday. My plans changed yet again, and I rebooked, but at a different hampton inn.... a little closer to where I had to be. I was charged the cancelled room because they require a 5 day notice. I booked the room only 4 days prior. When I called and spoke with mgr (Michelle) she apologized and said there was nothing she could do. I had to call corporate.... who graciously offered to pay me back directly. So the Sidney location got my money.... but never again. There are other locations I'll use in the future.... or I'll book at the Marriot. I still can't believe she was so unyielding. read more

Currently staying at the Hampton Inn in Sydney, Ohio. Wow, what a disappointment! This hotel has some real audacity to charge the prices they charge. First and foremost, as we walked in the room, we were greeted by a toilet filled full of someone else's urine and tissue paper, the small refrigerator and freezer in the room are so disgusting, I think it would be unsafe to put your food in there. Though they still actively advertise that they have an indoor pool, it is not filled or open, and has not been for sometime. We were promised that the general manager would call us first thing in the morning about the room. He didn't bother. Trust me, for this amount of money, go elsewhere! read more

Our family had an unexpected death in the family near Christmas and had a number of family and friends come into Sidney for the funeral just before New Year's Eve. We reached to the Hampton Inn Sidney to be the host hotel and they did not disappoint. They were able to work with a number of itinerary changes with our mourners and provided a room to use to gather. I heard no complaints from anyone regarding the rooms, the breakfasts nor how they were treated. Thanks to the Hampton Inn Sidney staff for making this tough time for our family much easier to deal with. read more

Worst Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at. Overgrown landscaping with tall weeds on outside of building. When we checked in we were told the pool was closed and has been closed for over a year. Only 1 operating elevator. Room smelled musty, carpets felt damp and windows were covered in condensation. The exterior doors were taped so they didn't lock. I told the front desk and they said if they took the tape off, no one would be able to get in because the room card reader didn't work (isn't that the point, to not let outsiders IN the hotel). This is probably the nicest hotel in the area. Close to I-75 with signage on the road alerting you to when to get off. There is a new section and an old section to this hotel. I've stayed in both. While the new section is definitely fancier, with walk in glass showers, etc, the old section is still plenty clean and nice. Indoor pool. Small but decent workout area. Hot breakfast included, with such choices as Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs or Western omelets, sauasage patties, fruit. Friendly front desk staff. read more

I always stay at Hampton Inn properties, but I will never stay at this property if I'm in the Sidney, OH area. Why, is what I'm sure you're asking yourself.....why? OK.....checked in online the day before (side benefit I think for being a HiltonHonors golf member), and I had spent a long day (started coming down with a head cold earlier in the day) at a customer facility in Illinois. Didn't arrive until about 10:30pm, and after I received my room key the front desk attendant asked me for the make and model of my car. I was actually curious why he needed that, so I asked. First he told me that it was in case I left my lights on. I didn't feel I needed to explain that my vehicle has automatic lights, and that I never touch them to turn on or off, so I just said "that's OK, it's OK" and tried to just make my way towards my room. That's it, you say!?!? Wow, I know.....I sound like a jerk, right?!?! Hold on......now the attendant persists in pursuing me and the make and make of my car. At this point, I'm just tired and want my pillow for sleepy time, but to no avail. So, I asked again why he needed it, and he said it was really in case my car was stolen it would help them. I maintained that this made no difference whatsoever if my car was stolen, and at this point I asked for a manager to speak. He pointed to the wall with the faded nameplate emboldened with the name "Derrick", and said "that would be me". At this point I let Derrick know that he needed to go back to school, and further pleaded to just let this go, and that I had had a long day.....to which he said he had a long day. I finally just walked away, and made my way to my room. In the morning, I let the attendant know about the altercation and his immediate response was "oh no, not Derrick again". I've called in a complaint to Hilton (about 1 week ago), but haven't been notified of anything further. Anyway.......sorry for the long rambling, and complaining style review......but just looking to help anybody considering this Hampton Inn property. If you're the business owner/Hampton Inn franchisee......get involved with your property. Train/retrain your employees.....and let them know they should never ever argue with your guests. read more

Usually, Hamptons are my go to hotel this one by far is not great. I'm actually a little disappointed. Although the staff is friendly and the beds are comfortable, I had to change rooms when I checked in. The first thing I do in any hotel is check the sheets and for bed bugs...Thank goodness no bed bugs! However, The sheets in the bed were clearly not changed. Gross!!! They were more than happy to switch rooms with me but then I was already grossed out! After I checked in my new room, the bathroom was not that clean a little black mold around the tub and dusty but I can live with it....but it was like my trust was broken. It's kinda like when you find a hair in your food, you don't want that dish anymore. What happened to standards? When I say standards I'm clearly talking about new sheets and clean bathrooms, not that much to ask for! read more

Staff is friendly; room is fine. I'm becoming disenchanted with Hamptons though. If it's not a cheap fiberglass shower stall and one measley towel per person (like here) or a remodeled room with six inches between the bed and the toilet (with a sliding panel "sorta door" (Maumee)) it's a bathroom so miniaturized that there isn't even room for a counter (Taos). All in the name of making us more comfortable! The whole chain seems to be going gradually downhill. Stop the corporate infatuation with fabric softeners (in the real world, no one's rhapsodizing about how their bed smells) and get us towels....two per person will do. And you know what else? The cancellation period (24 hours) stinks for people traveling over many, many days. While I'm ranting about the good old days (no credit card hold if you arrive by 6 pm, free cancellation till 3 pm; it wasn't that long ago) can I also say that these hermetically sealed cubes that haven't felt a freshening breeze since the day they were built are starting to give me the willies and I'm way over waffle machines. We don't need a free shoe shine mitt. We really, really don't need a sticker on the toilet paper roll to show that it's never been used. What. We. Need. Is. Towels. Like I said, there's nothing wrong here (well, maybe the multiple grade school soccer teams staying tonight). It's fine. Really. Just not more than three stars! read more

WE are presently staying at this Hampton. It is Dec 25th 2020. The room is adequate for the price. The facility is starting to show a great deal of wear. My biggest complaint is the TV. It is very hard to get it to work. You have to push a bunch of buttons to make it work and this process is impossible. This is the second stay at this hotel that we have had this issue. For 20 years I traveled for work and used many different brands of hotels. I have always found Hampton to be one of the better ones. NEVER in all my hotel usage have I come across this type of TV setup. WE were disappointed we could not watch a football game we were looking forward to. I am considering paying more to stay somewhere else because of this stupid issue. read more
