Love this hotel because it is located conveniently near Liberty Station. There is a bridge that you can walk over to take you to the other side where all the restaurants and stores are. It is a bit of a walk but you can get your steps in and an early AM workout. The lobby is so pretty and there is a complimentary hot coffee/tea station as soon as you walk in. To the side of the lobby and registration desk, there is a small convenient store where you can buy snacks or any toiletries that you left at home. On mornings on the weekend, they have a complimentary breakfast area where you can make waffles, has an egg and sausage bar, oatmeal, and cold cereal area. You can also enjoy some yogurt and fruit. Everything was yummy and fresh and was great when you were on the go. Rooms are pretty spacious and overlook either the waterfront or Liberty Station and the marina. Our room came with a king bed, sofa, desk, and fridge. For being a standard room it was huge and comfy. The bed was very comfortable and I was a fan of the pillows. The bathroom came with complimentary shampoo and conditioner and hand soap which was a plus. Overall, it was a great room. Because we like to visit different areas of San Diego when we visit, I am sure we will be back to this hotel since we would love to explore Point Loma more since we ran out of time. I had a pretty disappointing experience at this Hampton Inn. At check-in, the receptionist was not able to find our reservation until I explicitly showed her both of our confirmation numbers, which takes much longer than expected. The room also left more to be desired, even though it seems to be renovated. The renovation seems to be fairly flaky. The rooms themselves are worsely maintained than the lobby area. One of the elevators also doesn't work as it's not able to go down to the base floor, but they didn't take it offline. Worst of all, as we are staying at the top floor, the airplane noise is terrible. During early evenings, there are many flights constantly flying over the building, and then the entire room is almost shaking because of how close the airplanes are to the building. Luckily, the number of flights drastically reduced later at night. I don't recommend staying on the top floor at all. The view is minimal. We paid extra to be facing the harbor. But there's quite a distance between the building itself and the harbor, and you don't really see much of a view because of the parking lot, the boat stations, and the street. The good thing about the place is the breakfast is decent. The interiors of the rooms are okay for a 3-star hotel. read more

Overall, very nice hotel. Comfortable. Accommodating. My comments would be that the bed was just OK. The breakfast, just OK typical items on the menu. The gym, doable at least there's a view. All the handles on the cable machine are gone. And in my room, the mini blinds to cover the window have a broken cord. So I manually had to pull them down, but I couldn't get them up in the morning. Updating review. My first stay here was excellent, but this stay was really poor. At first glance everything looks as great as before, till we actually got settled in According to the hampton business card left in our room, the room was "cleaned" by Laurencia prior to our check in - Room was cleaned with a rush job. Previous guest's drinks were in the fridge, and their trash was bagged in the trash can. - The toilet paper was downgraded to the thinnest 2-ply toilet paper, it was basically single ply. - When we checked in, they ran out of guest water bottles. - last time the pillows were plump, this time they were flat and lumpy - bathroom door won't stay closed. - shower door won't stay closed - the fan won't stay on. We had the fan on continuous, however it would turn itself off after about 2-3 hours. I feel like this must be a pre-set eco setting (it was on continuous, not auto). Since it would turn off, we'd wake up in the middle of the night feeling hot, and had to turn it back on Not sure if cutting corners to save time and money, but it's not a good look read more

Really enjoyed my stay overall. Decent daily breakfast, nothing fancy. The king suite room I booked was really spacious. I thought the room did look a little aged and needed some noticeable repairs in the bathroom, but otherwise the room seemed clean enough and bed was comfortable. Didn't really notice the planes flying overhead, but the construction adjacent to the rooms overlooking the parking lot was another story - so loud! Parking lot is huge, so no problems finding a spot to park in. Because there's plenty of parking and unlimited ins/outs, this hotel location made it really convenient to visit Liberty Public Market or the park next to the marina easily. The Hampton Inn is one of the more expensive hotels at the airport but they're also the only hotel that doesn't provide a shuttle service, and the cab ride is $20 with tip. Worst of all, our room has a NASTY smell, probably toxic chemicals, and the front desk is also very rude. Hilton has been going downhill for years now, their motto is "pay more and get less." Great central location. Very close to the airport and all attractions ...15-20 minute drive to Downtown San Diego, Seaport, Coronado Island, Balboa Park, Old Town and La Jolla. Easy access from the main road. Large parking lot shared with Towneplace Suites. My only gripe is there are many spaces marked as "Clean Air/Van Pool/ EV", many of which are in front of the hotel, convenient to the main entrance. As a precaution, I did NOT park my standard vehicle in these space and opted to park around the side, which is a further walk to the front. Parking was $15 per night. Easy check-in process...we were able to check in a bit early at 1pm. (Check-in time is normally 3pm here) Lobby was very clean and well-maintained. Lots of open space and seating areas/tables. Room was good. Small kitchenette-ish area with sink, mini fridge and microwave. Sofabed. Adequate temperature control. Good water pressure. Comfortable bedding and sheets. Large desk/table. TV with lots of channels available. Bathroom was good...but...biggest gripe is the door. The bathroom door was a sliding door, which when "fully closed" left a 1" gap where other people in the front area of the room can see the toilet...and the person who may be sitting on the toilet. Definitely a design error...I spoke to one of the maintenance staff in the hallway who acknowledged the flaw and said all rooms are like that. Rooms were quiet with minimal noise from the hallway and adjacent rooms. Hot breakfast was standard with the standard continental fare: coffee, juices, cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit, waffle-maker, yogurt and usually two options. Served from 6am - 10am. Fitness center was adequate with a few cardio machines, free weights and weight machine. Laundry machines (3 washers and 6 dryers) were functional and coin-operated. The pillows were a bit too "fluffy", either that or I have a big, heavy head. The bathroom sink water does have a sulfur smell to it. It's like if your water filter went bad, but it isn't harmful (I wouldn't drink it though). Water pressure in shower was fine. Good sound insulation, didn't hear planes from my room. A newer outpost of this budget-friendly chain located very close (5 min) to San Diego airport. We stayed one night to better position for an early flight back to Minneapolis. The room was perfectly comfortable with updated bath and functional furnishings. Despite the short night, I slept reasonably well and the bed and pillows suited my style (soft foam pillows and firm bed). My wife on the other hand who has an affinity for super soft, pillowy beds tossed and turned all night. Like so many places staffing is a challenge so we and MANY others spent some extra time waiting in the lobby while housekeeping scurried to prepare rooms-even past the posted 3 pm checkin time. Also housekeeping is provide only every other day so if you stay more than 1 night you'll maybe want to exchange towels at the desk. While not as cheap as some, it was a reasonable price given the proximity advantages. While they offer a shuttle, we opted to Uber to the airport to be better able to control our own timing and get there to line up for 4:15 a.m. security opening time. read more

Well, we received a delivery after returning home from the endocrinologist yesterday. I think Kitty had fun in San Diego but was a little bummed about his ride back home - it must have been tough to breathe in that box. haha He's home now, and Xander and him are both happy. My go-to spot while staying in San Diego while on business. Ample parking on both sides of the building and grounds are kept clean. The lobby is clean, and the little snack shop is well stocked, expect high costs. Checking in can be slow and fast. Depends on the time of day and staff on hand. Today's was a normal 5 minute wait time. The room is clean and qell stocked with linens. Now comes the confusing part. I've checked in at this location over a dozen times. Sometimes, a parking pass is needed, and others are not needed. It's unknown when those rules apply. Going somewhere with this point, I promise. If you check in via the Hilton app, which I highly recommend. Your digital key is delivered to you via app. Great! Right? Well, you still need a physical key for your room to function. So you still have to visit the front desk. Then you may or may not need a parking pass. The app is pushed as a contact less easy check-in process. It kind of is but still requires front desk interactions for your parking pass and physical key. This may be confined to this location only. There are no food locations directly on premises. You will need to take the foot path to go over the water and into a small area with a few mediocre food locations. The parking lot is shared between 2 hotels. The lot between both buildings can get packed pretty quickly. read more

There's a front lobby, a rear lobby, the breakfast area, two computers in the business area, and the check-in desk. We were on the second floor, and we woke up to the scent of bacon!! It was the perfect location for our first two nights in San Diego since we wanted to explore Carbillo National Monument and Point Loma. The hotel is modern in exterior and interior design. Stayed here recently - over the past week. Booked this hotel based on the reviews across Yelp, TripAdvisor, Expedia, Google - although I booked directly on the hotel website, since it's usually "preferred" for the best rates (some hotels have price matching), bonus rewards points, more flexible cancellation terms (in light of COVID). I took lots of photos. I needed a quick escape, so I figured a road trip to San Diego would do it - and wanted a clean, safe place to stay for the night. I found a reasonable rate for a Water View - King Bed, Non-Smoking room - overlooking the bay. The room itself was spacious, clean, and the towels were well-stocked. The room had a lounge chair with side table, a desk - with a somewhat awkward to maneuver desk lamp, a flatscreen TV (which I didn't turn on once during my visit), a mini fridge, and of course the bed itself. The Good: Clean room (for the most part), great view, plenty of parking, thoughtfully placed outlet panel - both for AC plugs and USB plugs. Hotel was next to the airport, but the rooms had enough sound insulation so that the noise didn't really bother you too much. Water pressure was great, and plenty of hot water for that morning shower. Internet was fast enough for me to complete a Zoom call without any bandwidth/latency issues. Also located in a safe area - Naval bases on one side, Harbor Police just down the road - obviously use common sense/situational awareness at night. Not-so-good: A/C & Heat machine: The A/C worked well during the day, but the heater didn't come on at all, even when I turned up the wall thermostat - it was still releasing cool air. The only difference with the heat setting was that the smell of the air seemed more pungent. Water: Water from the faucet for some reason always had a strong sulfur smell to it. Oddly enough, the shower water didn't have this same issue. Shower: This is probably the first hotel I've stayed at ever - and I used to travel a lot for business - where there was not a tub in the bathroom. Forget having a soaking tub after a long day exploring the city. Your only option is a walk-in shower. You can sort of catch a glimpse of it in the bathroom photo I attached to this review. "Honored" Requests/Staff: I had requested late checkout upon initially checking in (Digital Key function didn't work and so I had to stop by the front desk). Jen cheerfully assisted me and offered a late checkout of 2pm. The following morning, when I went down to look at "breakfast" options - I confirmed with Stacy my late checkout request. Stacy told me she saw no notes whatsoever regarding my supposed conversation with Jen the previous day, and offered a late checkout of 1pm. A few hours later, a little before 12 noon, I received a knock on my door - it was the housekeeping supervisor who asked me if I planned to vacate soon... I told her I had late checkout until 1pm... she looked at her clipboard and told me there wasn't any notes for that. Disappointing. Also, while Jen was friendly and cheerful - despite me checking in on Thanksgiving (meaning she had to work the holiday), Stacy could be a bit more discreet when discussing guest details. She didn't pick up on the fact that I didn't want to announce my room number to the lobby full of guests when she had initially asked for it to confirm my late checkout request. I showed her my phone (which had the Hilton app on it) with my confirmation number, arrival/departure dates, etc. - she was friendly later on when I politely brought up that the coffee station was out of creamer - which she promptly refilled. "Breakfast" : Breakfast was in a paper bag and consists of a water bottle, an orange, and a Nutri-Grain bar. See pictures. I imagine an attempt at individual portions of a hot breakfast would be too much to ask for here. Parking: Parking is $15 a day - for the privilege of parking in an otherwise empty lot. My room - overlooking the bay - also overlooked the "overflow" lot - which was practically empty. Elevator-of-death: There are two elevators serving the hotel. The elevator closest to the front desk shakes and you hear this unnerving clanging noise each time it passes the 2nd/3rd floor (my room was on the 4th floor). It's the elevator that has the picture of the cute dog with the phrase "selfie" taped onto the doors. I snapped a shot of the inspection certificate...which expired back in 2018. The other elevator - which I only got a couple of times - had no issue. I get that we're in the middle of a pandemic, and the Hotel/Hospitality industry is strapped for cash right now - I empathize with that - however, if you're going to take shortcuts, it should be reflected in the hotel rate as well. The rate certainly doesn't reflect the reduction or quality of amenities offered. Not sure I'll stay here again in the future with how many negatives there were and whether they'll be addressed or not. read more

The enterance of the hotel is clean and organized. It has swimming pool. The parking lot: is spacious, but you have to pay $20 per night. In some hotels parking is complementary, while others you have to pay for the parking. You also have a free breakfast. For the breakfast, they have various options. So, you can grab fruit and yogurt or eat egg and sausage which were tasteless. They have waffles, toast and jam too. The room: -First, our reservation was for a room with water view and we preferred higher floors. We had a room in the second floor which barely had the view which we expected! -Amenities: They room include a fridge but there was no microwave. Meanwhile, in other Hampton inn, we had microwave in the room as well as many hotels! - Although cleanliness is a standard that you would expect across all hotels,but in this hotel they don't clean the room daily as other hotels do. Let me explain what service we received in several hotels: 1- Make the bed 2- Dusting and wiping specially if you stay for many days .In other hotels,they do this every single day 3- vacuum the carpet 4- clean the bathroom 5- clean the trash 6- Replenish items like cups, coffee/ tea or other materials we need 7- Mop the bathroom We DID NOT Receive THESE SERVICES HERE! These are basic services!!!!!!! You have to call the front desk for the service you want to have ; for example make the bed or clear the trash or vacuum. This hotel was very clean and quiet, no complaints. However, we did not notice prior to booking that there is no hot tub, so that's a big vacation disappointment, but it's our fault. We should have checked when booking. Made an assumption. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable. I could hear and feel the springs, and it was very firm. I thought I was comfortable when I went to sleep, but I kept waking up with shoulders, arms asleep. I am exhausted right now and about to go to sleep and Wishing my bed was more comfortable. When we checked in the room didn't have a shower curtain (no biggie) called the front desk they brought one that was a bit small . Second there was left over food still in the fridge. The next morning my daughter and her boyfriend took the shuttle to the airport me and my other daughter went back to sleep later we started to get ready and house keeping knocked and started to come in told him we were still there and he apologized and said he had us checked out shortly after his boss just opened the door and barged in arguing that they have us checked out told her we are still here . I took up with front desk and all they can say was sorry about that . Now when we stay at other hotels my teenage daughter gets nervous about someone barging in . My stay here was to recouperate after heart surgery , I have to say they made my stay the best in a long time. They checked on me and made sure everything I needed was there for me. I want to say Luis, Catherine and the rest of front desk were outstanding. Then the breakfast staff Martine Schaeffer and yes I did ask her to write her name down for me as she made my day. She asked if I needed help or anything as I was using a walker to get around. Everything about this hotel experience was just right. Seems like it's quite new construction, nice big, modern rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got rain soaked and there was a coin dryer for our use. Hot coffee and tea 24/7. Good location- close to the airport and downtown San Diego. read more

Super clean and super new! Although a bit more pricier than other Hamptons I stayed at, this still didn't disappoint! Walking distance to liberty station where you can find a lot of shopping and restaurants! The room we stayed at was down stairs. It was pretty small for my family if 4! 2 teens and my husband! With all the bad reviews we were hesitant to book this hotel however we had a fantastic stay. The facility was in a good area, very clean, friendly and caring staff, tasty breakfasts, quiet during our mid-week stay, with quietly muffled jet noise during the day and none at night. Beds were comfy, our room had a mini frig, no microwave and the bathroom was equipped with a hair dryer, generous bottles of shower gel, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The A/C was not bothersome. The room cost was reasonable however with large front and back parking lots we were surprised we were charged $25/night for parking as no one but guests parked in them. We asked for a harbor view and were never told the cost of the additional charge per night. After an enjoyable 3 days, our issues began as we checked out, with charges they put on our credit cards. First they split the room costs on both mine and my sister's cards which we requested, followed by then putting the entire bill on my card, and an additional $399 on my sister's card which she was told did not show up from their end and that she needed to contact her bank. Returning home she had to spend time at her bank and eventually contacting her credit card company to get the charges removed. The bank told her hotels are notorious for adding charges which drop off later which mine did, however hers did not. None of that should ever occur if they have competent staff who know what they are doing. read more
