Nice little room, I really enjoyed the huge rolling bathroom door. The staff was friendly and attentive. My only gripe was that the black out curtain was just a smidgen too short, which gave the sun a hall pass to pierce through and did not allow for sleeping in. The complimentary breakfast was complete with eggs, potatoes, sausage, a waffle maker, cereal, coffee, etc and the dining room was full of comfy seats to choose from. Also, after reading the other reviews, I was under the impression that this hotel was in the middle of nowhere without any places to eat. I was both right and wrong In my assumptions. There are plenty of places you can grab a quick, casual bite - Whataburger, Captain D's, McAlister's, OEC, Ranchito's, McDonald's, etc. If you forget some toiletries or need snacks, there's a CVS, Walgreen's, and Kroger, and Walmart nearby. Highway 49 can get pretty congested, pretty quickly though.

A nice room. No blackout curtain for the middle section of window. Wonder why not...

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago while traveling from Florida to Texas. This was my halfway point. As I was traveling alone I made sure to park in front of the front entrance. The parking lot was well-lit, and I felt safe walking to and from my car. My room was on the 4th floor which I appreciated. No one walking above me when traveling alone I prefer not to be on the first floor. My room was nice and clean. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. The woman who checked me in assured me that the area was very safe. I arrived after dark but still had to run to Kroger down the street to pick up dinner. As it was dark out when I got there, and having never been there before, I couldn't really get a good impression. But there was plenty of fast food and stores around. The only complaint I have about the hotel - or at least my room - was that there was no blackout curtain for the middle of the window. One of the walls was covered in heavy curtains except for the middle section, which only had sheer drapes. There was no curtain to pull over this section so in the morning the sunlight wasn't blocked. Not cool if you are trying to sleep in. Thankfully I sleep with a sleep mask so it was no problem for me. All in all a positive experience.

Room curtains! Beautiful!

Five stars! Very clean, well laid out property. Parking is ample and extremely well lighted. Security cameras made us feel secure in leaving items in our vehicle (nothing missing come sun up)! Carpets and floors seem clean. Elevator had a little *traffic* showing but it was not bad and it's a high traffic area so not bothersome. Wifi had weak spots but worked 99% of the time. Staff was on point. If we needed it they had it! Breakfast is a nice selection of healthy options. I would prefer straight up pork sausage, but the turkey options weren't bad. They also provide a On the Go grab bag for guests that wish to have it. The bag includes a muffin, a fresh fruit, cereal bar, and a bottled water! Epic offering! Rooms were well sized and very comfortable even for three people. Decor and linens are amazing and fresh! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Getting everything unpacked for the night!!

I was traveling home from a convention in Dallas, and stopped in Richland for the night. The…read moreQuality Inn was the place I chose, and I was happy to get the place since I had lost my wallet earlier that day. Fortunately I was still able to book a room and check in using a phone app and stored credit card information. My night was initially uneventful, but then I received a call that a gas station 150 miles back had found my wallet and was holding it, so I was in good spirits after that. My stay was uneventful other than that. The room was clean and had all the amenities you would expect of a Quality Inn. I didn't have any issues, and had a good night's sleep. As an old saying I have become fond of goes... it's quality you can spell with a 'K'!

Extremely poor service and thoroughly disgusting. The clerk at the front (I believe his name was…read moreAnkar or Ankhar, I'm not sure of the spelling) was rude to every member of my family and wouldn't even allow my sister to fill up her water bottle in the morning after the breakfast station had closed. The room was the worst part. The bathtub had yellow stains from cigarette ash despite being a non-smoking room. The top blanket was riddled with holes from cigarette burns. The white sheets underneath that had red and orange stains all along the edge and the sheet we slept on had black and gray stains. Everything was filthy, including the floor that turned my feet black from walking around barefoot! The fridge was rusty, not to mention the massive crack in the porcelain bowl of the sink! To top it all off, breakfast was disgusting. My mom, who is usually a fiend for hotel breakfast, wouldn't eat anything because it all looked "so heinous." They also called our room for a wake-up call that we didn't request - twice! Do NOT stay here. This entire establishment should be shut down.

The last several weeks, my company has been sending me into Mississippi and weirdly enough. I have friends and relatives there. I had an auntie that was staying in the Jackson Pearl area at this hotel me living two states across. I was on the road for five hours to try and come hang out with them for a couple of hours before I had to go to work . Well early that morning I was gonna go pick up my aunt as she had been in the hotel for two days and we were going to kabbutz for a couple hours, talking about family matters since our relatives live in the Memphis area. Well, I went into the hotel lobby to pick her up after I had just got off the highway that morning. I went and knocked on her door to. I was downstairs waiting in the parking lot for her well as I was waiting in the lobby I asked the lady who was the front desk attendant about how to get to Flowood!! She seemed nice enough well that was until I tried to walk over to the breakfast bar and get me some coffee since I had travel lag. As I proceeded to walk over, she corrected me and said well you know our breakfast bar is only for a guest and I told her well is that the way you treat guest of your guess is that if they're on the highway and want some coffee you would deny them that??? at the end of the day I don't argue with people that have stick the hotel policies so at that point I just told her when my guest comes downstairs. Just tell her I'm in the parking lot. This was a very good learning experience because I actually had to work in the Jackson/pearl area in the next couple of days and this hotel reminded me where I'm not going to spend my money!!! Which is actually quite comical because my job actually pays for my hotels and I told them I would rather go down the street and spend more money if you treat the guest of your guest this way then this hotel is not welcoming enough and it doesn't deserve my hard earned cash. Thank you La Quinta you definitely knocked it out the park with this one!!!

Surestay Hotel - Richland By Best Western

I found SureStay by Best Western, in Jackson, MS to be a great budget place to get some sleep. My…read moreroom was clean, spacious, and the bed was comfortable. That was the main thing I needed. It's a bit interesting to get to because it's on the east side of the access road. But if you use your GPS, it will get you there about the time you think you've missed it. It is surrounded by industrial type businesses. There are no restaurants or stores within walking distance. However, within a short drive there are many shops and restaurants. The hotel staff was efficient. I cannot say the gentleman at the front desk was warm or welcoming, but he was efficient. Rooms open to the outside like a motor lodge. This one had been remodeled a few times. It did look nice and was clean. There is free parking, free WiFi, and a pool that looked well maintained. The room had sufficient lighting, and plenty of electrical outlets for charging devices, including some above the nightstands. There was a TV, mini-fridge, a small microwave, and a place for hang-ups (most people have a couple). The bathroom was equipped with dispensers on the wall for shampoo, conditioner and soap. Well, one had detached from the wall and was propped to the side. I bring my own, so I didn't use theirs. The hot water was hot as it should be. I did notice it seemed they use a water softener because I never felt completely rinsed. Some areas could be improved. In my room, some of the floor tiles were loose. There was an open space at the bottom of the door, as much as an inch, so that light from the outside shone through onto the floor. I put something in front of it to keep bugs from entering. The towels were quite thin and, if you want to wrap one around your waist, you had better be thin too, or it will reveal things like a hospital gown wherever you attempt to join the ends! In spite of that, I did get dry. Breakfast is a really big word for what is offered each morning. "Lthe ironicly named "continental" breakfasts are usually bigger. There was coffee, make-your-own waffles and mini-muffins. All I needed was coffee, and I make my own in-room, so I didn't care. Still.. the price I paid on Expedia was low, and I did sleep well. So, I was happy, and pleased with my stay.

What a horrible hotel. The floor in our room was dirty enough to turn my white socks black. One of…read moreour blankets was stained. There was a small spider web in the bathroom. The sofa with a pull out mattress was broken down and unusable. It was also disgustingly stained. It looked like they salvaged it from a dumpster. After 14 hours in the car all we wanted was the basics clean, comfortable, lights and AC. The AC worked most of the lights did not. And the room was NOT clean. The Surestay brand Best Westerns are always a crap shot but this was the worst of the worst I have stayed in to date. Most of the time when you have a complaint with a hotel it is something over looked or was unexpected or employee performing below standards. In this case this owner made the intentional decision to furnish this room with a disgusting sofa/bed. While this is not the first time I have found soiled sofa/bed in a Surestay it is the first time my party wanted to use the bed in the sofa. There was no way any of us wanted to sleep on it. Makes you wonder what they were passing off under the covers of the bed beds (insert horrified face emoji here). I wish Best Western would dump the Surestay brand it literally soils their reputation in the hospitality industry. I brought this up with Best Western corporate and they did give me additional points for the inconvenience but they did not give me the impression they were going do anything about the problem with this hotel particularly or with the Surestay brand generally. I got the song and dance that they can't force the owners to invest money in their hotels. Really!!! If you have no influence in that regard why let them use your name. Sorry but that dog don't hunt so speak.
