We normally stay here a day or two each summer, but of course this summer things were a little different. For starters- this Hampton has had it's share of good days! The wear and tear is visibly noticeable, and quite disappointing for what they charge per night! One small perk- Hilton Honors members will get two free bottles of hot water for whatever that's worth! Here's my experience with staying at this Hampton during Covid-19: The two front desk workers were both friendly & had on masks and gloves. They DID NOT screen us at all. The didn't take our temperature or ask if we had any symptoms of the corona virus. The check in process was less than 5 minutes which was sweet. The machine for payment was covered in plastic wrap which made no sense to me but that's another story. Also, there's plexiglass around the front desk & the floor is marked to enforce social distancing . Only 2 people are allowed to ride the elevator at a time, and there's a station to sanitize your hands before you get on. The rooms are sanitized and sealed to let you know that no one has been in them which was reassuring. I found the room to be old and sort of worn, but spotless nonetheless. They've gotten rid of the throw pillows and all pamphlets and stationery has been removed as well. We only stayed one night which was more than enough for me. There's not even a USB port in the rooms which lets you know how dated this place is. I'm not sure how they handle continental breakfast because we opted to skip that. The hotel was not crowded at all. I honestly didn't see one person on our floor during our stay. Plus the parking lot was only half full which let's me know the hotel was not booked up. Masks wearing was NOT strictly enforced as I saw a man in the lobby without a mask and nobody said a word to him! Lastly- make sure to keep the chain lock on your door! Housekeeping barged in our room around 9am without knocking, and we were still in bed!

I had a nice stay with no real issues other than my girlfriend saying the bed wasn't comfortable, but I didn't have any problems with it. Checkin online was simple and even got my digital key on my phone so just walked in and went right to our room. Checkout was just leaving and getting my receipt via email. So simple and convenient. Due to the Covid restrictions, breakfast was severely limited so we opted fir for a diner in town. My room, 323, was spacious, clean and quiet. Overall. It was a positive experience and I'd stay here again when in the area.

One of the Worst Hotel Experiences of My Life - BED BUGS in 3 Different Rooms…read more I came to this hotel on a 5-day business trip with a coworker, expecting a clean and restful stay. Instead, what we experienced was an absolute nightmare. By day three, both of us had painful, swollen bites all over our legs. At first, we thought they were mosquito bites -- until a pest control expert told us they looked like bed bug bites. We checked our room, and sure enough, we found a live bed bug in the bedding. We filmed it for proof and brought the video to the front desk. We were stunned by the staff's response. The front desk attendant, Vaughn, was completely unfazed -- chewing gum, dismissive, and asking why we "waited so long" to report it. Even with video evidence, we were met with skepticism instead of concern. When we asked about laundry service to avoid spreading bed bugs, we were told we'd have to pay for it ourselves -- maybe get reimbursed. We were moved to another room... only to find another bed bug AND a granola bar stuffed between the bed and the wall. Disgusted, we returned to the front desk again, apologizing for coming back so soon -- and that's when Vaughn casually told us bed bugs are seasonal and "come and go every year." That alone should be a dealbreaker for any guest. It only got worse. Our third room had yet another bed bug. At this point, we were mentally and physically exhausted. We sealed off part of the room and tried to sleep, paranoid and beyond frustrated. The next morning, my coworker spoke to someone claiming to be a manager -- who asked why we didn't report it sooner and whether WE CAUGHT THE BED BUGS for pest control. Completely inappropriate and tone-deaf. Later, we spoke to the so-called general manager, who tried to downplay our bites as mosquito bites, despite the videos we had from all THREE rooms. He even tried to justify the behavior of his employees, one of whom had rudely cut off our boss over the phone and slammed a keycard at us without saying a word. We were reimbursed for laundry and only given a partial refund, despite having to live in fear of bringing bed bugs home, losing sleep, and enduring some of the worst hospitality I've ever experienced. Not once did anyone sincerely apologize or take real accountability. If you care at all about cleanliness, safety, or basic respect as a guest -- do not stay here. This hotel has a serious infestation problem, and worse -- an even bigger problem with how they treat their guests.

I arrived in the afternoon and was greeted and checked in promptly. I have IHG status, and they gave me a small goodie bag with water and snacks at check-in. My room was on the second floor (ground level, just steps from the lobby). The room itself was quite large, with a modern design that felt recently renovated. There was a large television and a desk area with a comfortable leather chair. The mini fridge was more substantial than usual, closer to a half-size fridge, and actually worked well, which is not always the case in hotel rooms. The heating and fan system also worked effectively, and I was able to block out any outdoor noise. The bed was especially comfortable, with plenty of pillows that were not overly firm, and clean, crisp white bedding. The bathroom was spacious, the shower had good pressure, and was stocked Dove products. Breakfast is included with the stay. I had a few mini omelettes, though much of the hot food had run out by the time I got there. There was still a decent selection of fruit (apples, oranges, berries), baked goods, and oatmeal packets. I also had tea, although I heard the automatic coffee machine was not working during my visit. Overall, this was a smooth and comfortable stay. The Holiday Inn Express brand seems to have experienced a glow-up, my recent stays over the past few years have been good, well-priced, and reliable.

The only room they had available was a smoking room. We reluctantly booked as we are non smokers. The first thing we noticed upon our arrival was the stench of stale cigarette smoke. It hit us like a ton of bricks. The overall cleanliness was awful. The sheets on the bed were ripped and had clearly not been changed. There was poop smeared on the toilet seat, the mini fridge looked like it had never been wiped down, the mirrors had gunk smeared all over them, the water from the sink, toilet and shower was brown and smelled like death. Washing up for the night was not an option. The real kicker? As I laid down in the bed, I noticed something blue and shiny laying under the dresser. I decided to investigate. It was a crack pipe! That's right, a complimentary crack pipe with booking of any smoking room at Royal Motel! We complained to management and we were refused a refund. Do not waste your money here! $110 for one night in this room was a rip off. If we had felt safe enough we would have just slept in the car. It definitely would have been cleaner

Underwhelming to say the least. Where to begin? I already knew I made a mistake when I first arrived. The property looks like its heyday was before the Korean War. The front of the building looks at least a little colorful, a bright green coat of paint applied over many older coats of chipping and peeling paint. There's a swimming pool in the center of the property, in front of the office, and it probably hasn't been in use since the Reagan presidency. There were multiple 40-gallon trash cans surrounding the pool, collecting the garbage from the many long term guests. I entered the office to check in, noticing the clutter, and broken fixtures. There was a Mister Coffee, filled with yesterday's brew, ready for guest needs. No cups, of course, but the coffee looked old enough to eat with a spoon. I was given a room two doors down from the office, past a storage room. On the other side was another room, with a long term resident. Who had a dog. That barked. ALL NIGHT. Loudly. This room was smaller than a college dorm room. There was a desk, being used to hold a broken mini fridge. No chair for the desk, however. Certain expected items were missing, like a clock, working outlets, or hangers for the clothes rod. There wasn't even a Bible (I'm not religious, I just found it funny not to find one.) There was an air conditioner held in place with duct tape in a window, and a plug-in portable heater nearby. The sink was in the bedroom, not the bathroom, which was just a toilet and shower stall built into an old hallway. The window shade was broken in the bathroom, so they had a towel draped over the window instead. There were at least 3 different brands of ceiling tiles throughout the room, and you could show the age based on how yellow they had gotten from years of cigarette use. The floor was a poorly cut laminate wood places over a pre-existing carpet. Most likely the carpet had been flooded or damaged in the past, and they didn't want to remove it. Or maybe there's a chalk outline on it. The front window shade was held in place with electrical tape. The door had a basic household locking knob on it, and no deadbolt or chain lock. There were screws sticking out of the walls in multiple places, perhaps for hanging up your keys and towels. There was a dead wasp right inside the door, but surprisingly, I didn't encounter any roaches or mice during this visit. I was shocked. The linens were seemingly washed, but very old with signs of washed and dried stains on the sheets and towels. The shower curtain was hung up with a cable tie replacing a rung. Based on how yellow it had gotten, I doubt that the curtain has been cleaned since before the pandemic. The old, not working baseboard heaters have been painted over with white spray paint, and rather poorly, probably just to pass an inspection. I got through the night, and when it came time to checkout, I found the office open, but no one there. There was a bell to ring, but no one came. I left the key on the counter (there was no drop box) and left. I wish I could have seen this place in 1955. It was probably an elegant motor lodge. No longer, I'm afraid. I feel sorry for the people living there long-term. You must have really hit rock-bottom for this to be an acceptable life choice.
