This hotel is very nice. The hotel has been remodeled and it looks nothing like the old version. Everything is contemporary and sparkly. The interior lobby has an open floor layout and it makes the space seem inviting. It would be a great place to meet people and visit or enjoy a meal. I was staying with a friend from out of town. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very nice. We had a great night sleep and were comfy all night long. The hotel staff did everything they could to ensure we had a pleasant visit. The continental breakfast was delicious and hit the spot. Its always a nice touch to have a bite to eat in the morning before greeting the day. This must be a popular hotel because they were busy. People coming and going but everything was handled very well. The staff was professional and accommodating. There is room for plenty of parking and everything was easy to access. There should be no issue with finding a place to park. There was also adequate lighting in the parking area. I never felt unsafe or vulnerable. Bathrooms are updated and nice, though the sliding door either closes the bathroom (well, mostly) or closes the closet -- weird design that is probably supposed to be innovative but honestly would be better with a regular door. read more

My husband and I stayed here last night and we were immediately welcomed in upon entering the hotel ! The lady that took care of us was so very kind and helpful as well ! Our room was very nice and very clean as well thanks to the amazing housekeepers ! I did complain of a smell of smoke in our room and she offered to change rooms for us which we declined as I had already brought all our belongings in and had everything set up for us - my husband said it was probably from smoking outside and the smell just lingered in so we just kept the room ! Now let me talk about the breakfast ! The breakfast was so hot and delicious and also had a wide variety of choices! The lady working the breakfast bar was a sweetheart! My husband and I travel often and this is by far one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at ! The price for our room was reasonable, and the staff were all very kind and helpful , our room was spotless and the breakfast was so delicious - this was a really nice place!!! My first night in a hotel in over a year, and I can tell it will be the worst night of the entire Covid ordeal. Why? I chose this hotel because they clearly stated they were still requiring masks- the signs are posted everywhere indicating that it was still they're policy, but when I walked in there was a group of about ten guests at the Lobby Bar, right next to the Check In stand, totally unmasked, partying down on their own, even though the bar was closed. I quipped to the (masked) clerk that I was astounded that, in a College Town, it was ironic that no one knew how to read, and he appreciated the comment, but I didn't want to make a fuss because he's yet another underpaid employee in this country of employees who are asked to risk their lives for a company's bottom line. I lugged my bags up the stairs, double masked this time, because I wasn't getting in an enclosed space like an elevator, and will be sleeping with my mask on, which will make for a fitful rest. I can't wait to get out of here tomorrow. If I had more time I would light up a cigarette in the Lobby tomorrow at check out, and film the ordeal, as they would most certainly enforce THAT rule, while letting the unmasked guests assert their own right to defy the "masks required" rule. But, again, I don't want to burden the employees, who just want to get through the day in a thankless job where the Corporate Suite refuse to enforce a stated policy. It's funny, because I just watched a video of Ricky Schroder being refused entry to Costco for not wearing a mask- he demanded a refund of his membership, and the Supervisor arrived and presented it to him, because Costco cares more about their employees' and customers' welfare than, apparently, Hilton/Hampton does. Not the worst place I've ever stayed, very attractive on the outside, lobby, pool, etc. However I can't give more than 2 stars because overall, there were just too many issues. It could use a good scrubbing. The carpet in our room was absolutely filthy. Just so so dirty you don't want to walk around the room in your bare feet. Husband killed a nasty looking spider IN the bed. Beds were just OK, pillows were tiny and worthless. Breakfast was fine if you only want cold items--cereal, yogurt, etc. Coffee was offered in air pots but was pretty good. Otherwise the hot breakfast items were a huge disappointment, bland and boring. Sausage links had been over baked in the oven and were petrified. Breakfast is huge for us when we book a hotel, so we would not stay again for that reason alone. P.S. I'd pick another spot until that road is fixed!! Not their fault, but the construction crew severed their internet line and we were without any internet the entire 3-day stay. In addition, road construction on their access road made it very very difficult to access the hotel. You had to drive over roads that were all torn up, and more than once had to wait for work trucks due to construction in progress. read more

After a four night stay, this location proved to be a good move. Minutes from Downtown Lawrence and the University of Kansas close by made traveling around town easy. It's about 45-50 minute car ride from Kansas City. This hotel offered no surprises (ot Ptoblems). Great staff and housekeeping, indoor pool and fitness center were Hampton fine. Complementary morning breakfast and of course, good coffee! Look forward to returning on my next trip to Lawrence, KS. read more

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Lawrence in April. Great location. Dave, at the check-in desk was most efficient and helpful. He put us on the third floor which was very quiet, even by the elevator. Upon getting settled, we received a text message asking us to be sure to let Dave know should we need anything. He recommended several placed to eat, close by. Dave is an asset to Hampton Inn. The bed was comfortable, room sparkling, small refrigerator in room - very enjoyable stay. Oh, and breakfast is included. LOTS of choices. I got off nightshift in 2018 from KU Medical Center. A full blown blizzard was going on. I tried to get a room here so I didn't have to drive home to lawrence. I was already exhausted. I had to go back to work that night on the burn unit. The person working the desk refused to rent me a room because he said it was too early. This place can rot in hell. read more

It was very clean, and all accommodations were lovely, staff was courteous and competent. Given the TripAdvisor reviews I was expecting a better experience. The room was ok - shower perimeter was stained or moldy and the heater/ac unit was very loud (on the plus side it helped block out street noise) and blew air forcefully to the point of being unpleasant so I had to turn it off. Bed was comfortable and room otherwise clean and front desk staff was friendly. The breakfast was mediocre at best - more so than other Hampton stays. read more

Wow! Run away as fast as you can. Booked a two queen, was "offered" a king smoking room! Who still has smoking rooms in the Hilton brand? Disgusting! This property is being renovated, and you should not stay here. Sink is crumbling, cigarette burns on the sink. The renovation is not going to help folks...find another property. Oh yeah, and the "service" by the night attendant Mike had no service at all. We arrived just after midnight, the parking lot lights went out, the front entrance was taped off with caution tape like a crime scene, so I went around to a back entrance, which had a buzzer....buzz...no answer, so I called. When Mike answered, instead of finding out where we were, and coming and letting us in, he insisted we come all the way around, under the scaffolding and around the tape. There was one small sign with the word "Guests" and an arrow, but you couldn't see the sign because of parked cars. Mike continued his "exemplary" service by failing to anticipate who we might be...only Diamond left tonight, failing to offer a drink, and then being very blase about our concerns. No worries, though, as soon as I become nose-blind perhaps I'll sleep. What is happening to the Hilton brand? We need to "make Hilton great again." #allHiltonsmatter read more

This was the finest hotel we have stayed at since I left the west coast 20 years ago. Their rooms were large; they were very clean; the sheets were pure luxury cotton, with weighted blankets. The room temperature was just the way we like it to be. This is the first hotel we have stayed at that truly had windows that did not let in light from outside. No amenities were missed. The staff was very nice. There was a list of local restaurants that delivered. The standard bathroom necessities were in the bathroom for us to use, however if you came without a razor, tooth paste or tooth brush, shaving cream, and many other things all you needed to do was call the front desk and those needs would be provided at no cost. We will never stay any place else when in Lawrence, KS, and we will look for Hampton Inns where ever we should need to travel. read more

As a loyal Hilton Honors member, the Hampton Inn was my first choice when looking for a hotel in town to stay at after my company's Christmas party. The hotel has gone through some major renovations over the past year and looks great both outside and inside. Check in went smoothly and the staff made us feel welcomed. The room was clean and included the usual Hampton amenities. The lobby was festively decorated for the holidays and large enough for everyone to gather before heading out to the party. The hotel is located in a convenient spot just minutes from I-70, KU and downtown Lawrence, but you will need a car or Uber to get anywhere in town. No need to look further than this hotel. The recent renovation makes it a great spot to stay while in Lawrence. read more

This Hampton looks much older from the outside than it feels inside. The rooms are up to the current branding. I had a king room with plenty of floor space (great for me because I like to exercise in the room with resistance bands). The staff was friendly during check in and helpful with suggestions of nearby places to eat. Another plus here is the location, which is close to the main drag, but just far enough that it's not overly busy. If you're interested, it looks like there is a frisbee golf course across the street. The breakfast here has some good options that seem to rotate daily. As you would expect from a Hampton, the internet is free. I would not hesitate to stay here again when I return to Lawrence. They don't have much for exercise equipment (only cardio machines), but the front desk said your room key will get you in free at a gym down the street. My only complaints are that the shower doesn't get hot enough for me, even when turned all the way to hot, and the wireless internet was pretty sluggish. read more

This was the hotel I liked least of tour, and it was probably the nicest. The pool was awesome! Indoor, with a raging-hot hot-tub. Thanks for letting us use it! Bent rules for bent bands, I always say! The couch was mine this night, and it did the trick. Sadly, after 9 nights of flooring it, there was nothing that would help my back. Ok... disregard all of the other reviews. This place has been COMPLETELY renovated. Just look at the dates of the reviews. Place is beautiful, doesn't smell like smoke at all and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Breakfast is your usual fare, plenty of it and the staff that was stocking it was very friendly. I used the fitness room which was small but had everything I wanted and in good working order. Pool looked great but I didn't pack a swim suit. One of my favorite things about this place is that check out is at noon, sometimes you just need a little more time to get moving, especially on a Sunday. read more

Instead of an actual bathroom door we had a barn door on a track! This poorly thought out re-design leaves a centimeter wide gap between the door frame and "door." In other words, you can hear absolutely everything. I am horrified and will under no circumstances be returning to this Hampton Inn location. I stayed here when I was in town for the Kansas half-Ironman, and the staff bent over backwards for me and the other participants. They opened up breakfast at 4:30 on race day and provided rags to wipe down our gear. If I'm ever back in Lawrence, this would be my hotel of choice. read more

I stayed at this hotel last night. I won't stay there again. I was on the second floor, which has an open balcony to the small lobby. There were several traveling youth teams at the hotel last night and people were allowed to party until midnight - keeping many of us and our kids awake. For 4 years I have been a loyal customer of this Hampton Inn in Lawrence, KS. In addition, I have been a loyal Hilton chain customer for over 25 years in business and personal stays both in the US and in Europe. While this particular hotel has been renovated and finally caught up with the times I must say that their management is a complete failure. Over a year ago (April 2016) my wife and I asked to be placed on a list for our sons graduation on May 2018. When I called in August 2017 about rooms, I was told that none were available. Apparently the hotel management took it upon themselves to sell all rooms in the hotel under a bulk purchase. While this may be something that is common place (as I'm sure they sold them at a premium undoubtedly, greed at its finest) why would the management not contact us to let us know that this decision had been made so we could immediately make other arrangements. Common courtesy would dictate this at a minimum. I can promise that Hilton Corporate training teaches this at it most basic level. Apparently this management brain trust must have missed class on that day or possibly been out selling rooms to the highest bidder in the parking lot like ticket scalpers at an NFL game. Shame on this management for their poor level of customer service, self righteous, careless attitude with respect to loyal/follow the rules Hilton faithful. read more
