In all fairness there is a sign saying that the hotel is under construction (we didn't see any construction). This hotel was also short staffed so it did have an effect (more so at breakfast). The rooms themselves were decent though there were stains on the carpet in our room. There was a tv and a small fridge, but no microwave. The beds were firm and the pillows were soft. With that said, while I did manage a little bit of sleep each night, I woke up in pain every morning. The shower offers plenty of height however, the water pressure is severely lacking. The bathroom was large and it looks to have been redone at some point, but the toilet seems to be lower than normal. We did like that the room was spacious and had a desk and a table for counter space. The indoor pool had a pleasant temperature but there was a lot of chlorine so the outside doors were kept open thereby letting bugs inside and into the pool. Also, the pool is showing some serious wear with chips in many spots. The breakfast in the morning was lacking and the sausage tasted off. There was constantly a line for the waffle maker so unless you wanted to wait, there weren't many options. I would say it was typical hotel food but that would be too generous of a comment. My family did stay at this same hotel a few years ago (gave it 4 stars back then) and we can see how it has unfortunately gone downhill. This was my second stay at this hotel and unfortunately I have to downgrade my 3-star rating to 2 stars. Both times I've stayed here has been during the weekend of the Frankenmuth beer festival. I used Hilton points for this stay and the only available rooms were two queen beds, even though I booked it back in December for a stay in May. When we arrived, I asked if they had any rooms with a king bed, but they did not; I figured it was a long shot since beer fest weekend is usually crowded, though. I'm Hilton Gold so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Also, we arrived around 2:15 pm - check-in is at 3pm - and our room wasn't ready. I know that technically we were early but usually at that point in the day the room would be ready. They found a different queen room for us though. That night, the toilet got clogged so we called the front desk and they said maintenance was off that night, or something like that, and the front desk employee literally just came up to drop off a plunger, for us to plunge the toilet ourselves. (Which is mostly why I'm leaving this two-star review...) I had remembered breakfast as being good here, too, but I grabbed a quick breakfast this morning and it was mostly bagels, muffins, a few hot items (sad-looking grits, eggs, sausage), and a pancake maker. Definitely better then just a continental breakfast but I only had a bagel and some apple juice. Hilton Gold and Diamond members are supposed to be offered either free points or a snack/food upon check-in, also, and I was offered neither, and realized it later. I asked about this upon check-out but they had no clue what I was talking about, regarding points; the employee offered snacks but since we were leaving, I didn't take him up on it. The rooms itselves here are fine, btw: probably 3/5 stars still. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have mini fridges. We did have some kids staying at the hotel that kept running up and down the hall and being loud, but that's not the hotel's fault. The bathroom fan was also very loud and the toilet didn't flush well, which is probably why it got clogged. read more

This hotel is by no means perfect as it has its flaws and obvious signs of wear. But it is clean and functional for the most part. I had four rooms booked here and no issues from the family members who stayed in them. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the rooms were clean along with all the common areas. As long as the price is right we will be back again in the future for the annual trip to frankenmuth. read more

We rented 4 rooms and they all smelled like mold. There was some type of damage in all rooms. No warning prior but the entire lobby was shut down. No restroom access from the pool so you had to walk outside and around to your rooms to use the bathroom. The elevator sounded like it was going to plummet down. The sound was terrifying. The pictures online showed 2 queen beds and a couch so we booked 1 room for 2 adults and 3 kids only to find a room with 2 full beds and no couch. They claimed the rooms were newly remodeled but there is absolutely no chance work was done. Trim was falling off of the walls in one room. Do not recommend at all. read more

Not ready to be opened!! Definitely unclean rooms , person left in charge knew nothing....only saw couple of rooms that any kind of seal of clean on them and my room seal was broken and someone had wiped toothpaste on hand towel left in bathroom......girl at desk kept saying they didn't have staff that day to put seals on doors? I didn't care as much if sticker wasn't on door (although suppose to be ) but I did care about used face towel and god knows what else wasn't cleaned....finally got moved to another room and didn't find dirty towels,,,but it was obvious this room was not too clean either.... I'm a diamond member and Hilton vacation club owner so I always try to support the brand....but I was embarrassed to my family for putting Us in this dump! Just a standard hotel. Nothing exciting. The room seemed clean enough. I use the Hilton app which allows me to pick my room and that was nice, except I couldn't use the digital key- they aren't set up for that apparently. I guess it's dog friendly, which is pretty cool. The breakfast area was awful. It's basically in a closet and with more than two or three people, it was awkwardly crowded and you'll bump into people. It was not clean, and I didn't see anyone working it. If I wasn't so shaky from being hungry, I would have skipped and gone to McDonalds. We didn't use the pool or hot tub because it was packed. My son who is 14 wasn't allowed to use the weight room with his dad because he has to be 18 to use the equipment. We slept, we left. read more

The one star i(rather than zero) is for the friendly staff. But the hotel is HORRIBLY maintained. The carpets are stained. The bed skirt is torn. There is a pervading smell of mildew. When I book a Hilton brand hotel, I expect a certain level of quality. This Hampton Inn is sorely disappointing and will cause me to question future bookings with Hilton. read more

We're Hampton regulars. This is a well run location, and we were pleased overall. Room was very clean and well maintained, as was the entire property. Breakfast was well done, and we were pleased to see enough staff to keep things stocked while still keeping the place clean on a busy Sunday morning. The thing that stood is how friendly all the staff were. From the maintenance guy who changed a light bulb (5 minutes from notice until fixed) to a couple front desk persons and housekeeping. If I could leave 0 stars I would. So, I was extremely excited to stay at this hotel especially after walking in and seeing their pool area... that didn't last long. My fiancé and I were greeted but what I assume was the manager, tall slender women with dark hair ( whom I thought was very gorgeous) she asked for card and ID for incidentals and I asked "how much would that be because I need to transfer the money" she took the card and said "let me check". After she came back, she listed a price and I asked if that was for the incidentals and she replied it was for the room, I then let her know the room was paid for. She got extremely rude rolling her eyes and making cocky head gestures saying "we don't charge incidentals". I was so confused! She took the cards back and headed for the back office with a HUGE eye roll, so I asked her "did you roll your eyes at me" she said "excuse me" so I repeated myself and she handed over my card and told me to leave the property. I, still confused asked why and with no explaination was told to leave again. I walked out to cool off. My fiancé then goes in and politely asked if we would please still have our room, he was shot down so I went back and spoke to someone else who was also rude. I drove almost two hours to stay here. The lady I was speaking to said I was yelling at her when I was not I was frustrated and in tears and extremely confused. They threatened to call the cops on me (which they did 20 minutes after I left). They would not help me with getting my money back our anything! I am still confused as to where I went wrong. I have never dealt with anything like this so it hit a little hard and it hurt my feelings. I will definitely be speaking with headquarters to get this handled. If you want to stay somewhere with friendly staff... this isn't the place! S.N. The stair well has had garbage and potato chips on the floor for 2 days now. Garbage over flowing outside the entrance on Friday. They have rodent traps in the stair and back entry ways. Wonder why? A staff person tried to use my and another customer's credit card illegally to pay off a medical bill. I got a new credit card, filed a police report and got my money back. I also reported the issue to Hampton Inn Birch Run and Hilton Honors Corp. No one reached out to me directly. One of the GMs tried to disguise it as the wrong merchant ID being used which I don't buy one bit. I also went on pissed consumer and poster about my experience and someone clearly working there posted this evil, gaslighting, demeaning, offensive and cruel reply which I am posting on here for the world to see. It's probably the same the same "thieving heathen" who attempt to use my card illegally. I tried letting Hilton Honors know this is how their employees talk to and treat customers and they didn't respond or seem to care and wanted to talk about everything except that. AOK sums it up quite well here, my dears. In town for a brief stay to attend a wedding nearby, the Hampton Inn was recommended. Given the other options, it's about par for the course. Pros: Max, the head of the kitchen. Best service at a complimentary breakfast I've maybe ever received! Offered to make my kids waddle, bring over my coffee and other various things. Room was clean and well equipped with a fridge. Smooth check in and nice desk staff. Washers and dryers on site. Cons: The common areas could use a good, deep, solid clean. Dusty and just a bit dirtier than it should be. Particularly the pool was looking a wee but scummy and the breakfast area/lobby in need of some elbow grease. The actual breakfast, while standard for a Hampton, is pretty lacking. The egg monstrosity is the major fail but a passable meal can certainly be assembled (bagels, waffles, yogurt), just don't expect to be wow'ed! It's summer and thus the price was $150/night, with tax my final bill was $350 for 2 nights which seems pricey given it flanks a highway, shares a driveway with KFC and the major attraction in BR is the outlet mall, which is not safely walkable from this hotel - FYI! We stayed here 9/3/20 for one night while visiting Frankenmuth. Upon entering our bathroom, I could not believe most of the towels and face cloths were stored on the back of the toilet. When a toilet is flushed, droplets from the toilet's contents spew into the air. Not a sanitary practice to store linens near this. In addition, the toilet bowl had a furry looking dark ring at the water level. This toilet had not been cleaned for a while. Also the bedspread looked dingy and worn. I'ts been a while since a review was done so perhaps things have changed. I stayed here 2 nights ago and had a great experience here. Staff was nice and friendly - informed us of breakfast times, thanked me for being a Hilton Honours member and told us how to access wifi. The price was quite reasonable and the room size was good. two queen beds which were great for sleeping. Room was nice and clean. Their toiletries were decent - they use Neutrogena products. Bathroom is your average tub shower, but it was very clean. The breakfast is actually pretty decent. it was quite busy when we ate. there's a waffle station, oatmeal, cereals, pastries, bagels, as well as some hot foods - ham, eggs and potatoes. The coffee they have regular and robust - robust is okay but i'm used to darker and bolder coffees so it wasn't my favourite. They also have hot chocolate and Bigelow teas available, and the morning paper. Breakfast was more than what i would expect when it's a free one which is usually a continental breakfast but here they do offer a full hot breakfast. The pool is nice - not a lot of people using, and i like that the hot tub was quite a large size so it can fit more people. Minutes away from the Birch Run Premium outlets, this was a great place to stop before heading to the shops the next day right when they opened at 10am. Great little place to stop by if you're just in town to do some shopping, and if you're not very picky and appreciate a nice free full breakfast the next day then this would be a good place to stay. read more

Definitely not among my favorite Hampton properties but serviceable enough if I needed to stay again. Located right on I75 at the Birch Run exit. Getting to the hotel isn't very intuitive (or well marked). You have to go up to the intersection and go right at the movie theatre or cut thru the KFC parking lot to get there. It sits next to a giant open field that (preaumably) was to be used for future commercial development that never happened. The breakfast area has been recently remodeled to bring up to other standard Hamptons. But the pool is right off the lobby...so people checking in can watch you swim. I am not self conscious by any stretch but it is just a weird layout unlike any I have seen. The kids don't seem to care...so all good I guess. read more

This Hampton Inn is ok. My only real complaint is that my room was right next to I-75, so it was pretty loud. Luckily I'm not a light sleeper or I would have been more upset by this. I got a room with a hot tub, but I didn't use it. As cold as it was in MI it may have been nice, but I couldn't do it. It's an ok place to stay if you're loyal to Hilton like I am, but if you aren't maybe there's another option. read more

We stayed two nights over the memorial day weekend and had a good experience. The rooms were clean and basic. Clean is usually all I can ask for in a hotel these days. We dont travel much so I cannot say how expensive it was but I thought the price was fair. The pool and hot tub were nice, we used both. I have a family of 5 traveling and we were comfortable in our room with two queen beds and a mini fridge and microwave. They offer complimentary breakfast which was very nice. The first day was sausage gravy, biscuits, (second day no biscuits and gravy, ham instead) scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, and waffles, in addition to the cold choices cereal, bagels, toast, English muffins and fresh fruits. The coffee was wonderful too. But what was the highlight of the hotel I have to say is a man named Maximus, he ran the kitchen both mornings we were there and you will count yourself lucky if you are staying while he is running things. He is such a friendly gentleman and always at your service, even when you are trying just clean up after your 3 year old who (as usual) just spilled cereal and milk which she convinced you she is old enough to carry. The breakfast space is spotless which Maximus prides himself on and that really shines through. In short we will go back just to see his smiling face! read more

We stayed 2 nights in a double queen room. We never received housekeeping service the next day. Instead of apologizing, the manager made typical excuses stating we must of had the do not disturb sign out... our bathroom ceiling then started leaking the second night! Needless to say I said I would not pay for the room. The manager Mariah was very unprofessional getting loud at me and my concerns. Not to mention that when I needed to call the front desk about the leaking ceiling our room phone didn't work!!!! The place is poorly maintained it is evident from the overflowing garbage cans and dented walls in the Lobby! read more

The staff was friendly, room was clean. The beds are AWFUL. Even my young children complained about how hard and uncomfortable the beds were. I could hardly move the next morning. I called to ask about getting another room or canceling my second night and was told "I'm sorry" and that was it. Very disappointed and will not recommend. read more

We stayed here and did not have very high expectations to begin with as we knew full well that it isn't an upscale hotel. However the experience was still extremely dissatisfying. The lobby reeked of chlorine. The rest of the hotel reeked of pot. I even saw people smoking pot in their rooms. When I called the front desk to complain they said that there wasn't anything they could do other than fine them. They explained that there was a nearby festival, Cannibis Cup, and many attendees were staying in the hotel. They indicated that most had their medical marijuana cards and were paying the $250 fine for smoking so they couldn't do anything. That is ridiculous- they can still kick them out at is it clearly says this is a non smoking location and they continue to let people smoke brazenly in their rooms. It isn't even that it is pot that bugs me, I would be equally bothered if it was cigarettes. Never staying here again and I suggest that you don't either. read more
