    Room with 2 queen beds
    Liz P.

This was my second stay at this hotel and unfortunately I have to downgrade my 3-star rating to 2 stars. Both times I've stayed here has been during the weekend of the Frankenmuth beer festival. I used Hilton points for this stay and the only available rooms were two queen beds, even though I booked it back in December for a stay in May. When we arrived, I asked if they had any rooms with a king bed, but they did not; I figured it was a long shot since beer fest weekend is usually crowded, though. I'm Hilton Gold so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Also, we arrived around 2:15 pm - check-in is at 3pm - and our room wasn't ready. I know that technically we were early but usually at that point in the day the room would be ready. They found a different queen room for us though. That night, the toilet got clogged so we called the front desk and they said maintenance was off that night, or something like that, and the front desk employee literally just came up to drop off a plunger, for us to plunge the toilet ourselves. (Which is mostly why I'm leaving this two-star review...) I had remembered breakfast as being good here, too, but I grabbed a quick breakfast this morning and it was mostly bagels, muffins, a few hot items (sad-looking grits, eggs, sausage), and a pancake maker. Definitely better then just a continental breakfast but I only had a bagel and some apple juice. Hilton Gold and Diamond members are supposed to be offered either free points or a snack/food upon check-in, also, and I was offered neither, and realized it later. I asked about this upon check-out but they had no clue what I was talking about, regarding points; the employee offered snacks but since we were leaving, I didn't take him up on it. The rooms itselves here are fine, btw: probably 3/5 stars still. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have mini fridges. We did have some kids staying at the hotel that kept running up and down the hall and being loud, but that's not the hotel's fault. The bathroom fan was also very loud and the toilet didn't flush well, which is probably why it got clogged.

    Peeling paint in shower

A pure dive. Peeling paint in the bathroom, carpeting full of stains, toilet wouldn't stop running, bathroom door had to be forced to close, tub dirty. If I hadn't been so tired I would have left and found another place. I was told manager would be in the next morning and reduce my rate. To no surprise , no manager. I called Hilton Rewards and they stated they would give me a full refund.

    Clean inviting lobby

Excellent stay. I slept a solid 10 plus peaceful quiet hours. Very clean. Ty does a fantastic housekeeping job. Bonnie who served breakfast was awesome. Friendly and did a fabulous job keeping the hot breakfast stocked. Everyone I encountered was so friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Immaculately clean. I highly recommend this hotel. One of the best I've stayed in.

Not ready to be opened!! Definitely unclean rooms , person left in charge knew nothing....only saw couple of rooms that any kind of seal of clean on them and my room seal was broken and someone had wiped toothpaste on hand towel left in bathroom......girl at desk kept saying they didn't have staff that day to put seals on doors? I didn't care as much if sticker wasn't on door (although suppose to be ) but I did care about used face towel and god knows what else wasn't cleaned....finally got moved to another room and didn't find dirty towels,,,but it was obvious this room was not too clean either.... I'm a diamond member and Hilton vacation club owner so I always try to support the brand....but I was embarrassed to my family for putting Us in this dump! If you can't offer a safe and clean stay during these times....then just don't open your doors!!

    Rude comment from an employee

A staff person tried to use my and another customer's credit card illegally to pay off a medical bill. I got a new credit card, filed a police report and got my money back. I also reported the issue to Hampton Inn Birch Run and Hilton Honors Corp. No one reached out to me directly. One of the GMs tried to disguise it as the wrong merchant ID being used which I don't buy one bit. I also went on pissed consumer and poster about my experience and someone clearly working there posted this evil, gaslighting, demeaning, offensive and cruel reply which I am posting on here for the world to see. It's probably the same the same "thieving heathen" who attempt to use my card illegally. I tried letting Hilton Honors know this is how their employees talk to and treat customers and they didn't respond or seem to care and wanted to talk about everything except that. To save yourselves unnecessary drama and DISRESPECT everyone I totally recommend you NOT stay here.

AOK sums it up quite well here, my dears. In town for a brief stay to attend a wedding nearby, the Hampton Inn was recommended. Given the other options, it's about par for the course. Pros: Max, the head of the kitchen. Best service at a complimentary breakfast I've maybe ever received! Offered to make my kids waddle, bring over my coffee and other various things. Room was clean and well equipped with a fridge. Smooth check in and nice desk staff. Washers and dryers on site. Cons: The common areas could use a good, deep, solid clean. Dusty and just a bit dirtier than it should be. Particularly the pool was looking a wee but scummy and the breakfast area/lobby in need of some elbow grease. The actual breakfast, while standard for a Hampton, is pretty lacking. The egg monstrosity is the major fail but a passable meal can certainly be assembled (bagels, waffles, yogurt), just don't expect to be wow'ed! It's summer and thus the price was $150/night, with tax my final bill was $350 for 2 nights which seems pricey given it flanks a highway, shares a driveway with KFC and the major attraction in BR is the outlet mall, which is not safely walkable from this hotel - FYI! All in all just fine.

Rooms are comfortable and clean. Service was super friendly. They offered us a coupon book for Frankenmuth and a local map. There's a pool and a hot tub and a complimentary breakfast every morning until 10am. Our room even had a hot tub.

Located just 5 or 10 miles from Frankenmuth, this was ideal and just minutes away. This was a newish Holiday Inn Express and was just fine for our purposes. The front desk greeted us warmly when we arrived, checked us in with no hitches, and we were all set. The place was reasonably clean, the lobby area pretty small but sufficient, and they had a nice pool for anyone looking for that. The next morning we patronized the little breakfast room and the food items they offered were just perfect. The staff operating the breakfast room replenished the foods regularly, making for fresh and hot choices. The prices here are more family friendly than those in the Frankenmuth downtown area. The bedding was nice and the beds were perfectly adequate for a short visit. Nice experience here, and we'd not hesitate to stay again when we return.

(Last year not so much) The Marv Herzog Hotel sits along the Cass River we chose the River side view, our room had a jacuzzi & small balcony. Our room was very clean with no visible signs of any issues. Bathroom had body wash, shampoo & conditioner all full. Daily room checks with fresh towels & bed makeover. We didn't feel comfortable on the balcony but the large patio was very nice with plenty of room and seating. Included with your stay is breakfast, typical of most hotels. What surprised us was you receive a drink ticket for 2 drinks German beer , wine or soda & hors d'oeuvres for a happy hour. All staff were very friendly & accommodating. Our refrigerator was not cooling the best & they allowed us to store our freezer packs & food in their refrigerator. Greatly appreciated this. Parking garage is tight, we have a truck and it was snug. No pool as this seems to be more of place for couples not necessarily families with small children. Although there were families there. The town offers a free shuttle which we used but most things are within walking distance. I am giving 4 stars because of the refrigerator & I wish we could have set the air conditioner for the fan to run continuously it didn't seem to have that function. & the tv didn't have a sleep mode. Overall I think we will stay here again in the future it has been kept up very well.

Whether you're looking for a family getaway or just a relaxing weekend, the Bavarian Inn Lodge offers something for everyone. We had a great time. They also have an area that you can walk to and watch the Peacocks. As far as the rooms, they are okay. The restroom is tight, with the toilets sitting inches from the shower. The second time I called, I ASKED to speak to a manager and was switched over, so of course she didn't hear the laughter or giggling I heard. The trip started off fairly well, until around dinner time! We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for dinner after the automated system said 20-40 minutes. When I did call, I was met with laughter on the other line and was told, "we're understaffed - but are you the room that ordered all the beer?" "Nope. Definitely not. We have kids in tow and we do not drink. Me and my family are STILL waiting for food..." To which she laughed again, said they were understaffed and claimed the young lady hauling food was on the floor and would be "right there". 15 minutes later, I called again and they removed the food from our bill - which I appreciated, but also hated having to ask for - AGAIN. Also, asking me about an 'order' because the staff was already taking too long seemed borderline inappropriate. That being said, my kiddos are both 7, one chose this waterpark as her birthday venue, and everyone had a fun time. (It's a tad frustrating that check-in is so late and in order to get INTO the water park, with the most slides that is, you had to pay extra. So, anyone who pays for just the park gets in earlier technically. Which again, is a tad annoying. You pay more to stay and then pay even more to play. The lazy river, the family raft ride and the outside hot tub were their favorites to play around in a there are a few inside we didn't even check out. The breakfast/dinner/game time coupons and cards were all pretty nifty and we used every single one of them. It is a bit misleading that the place to enjoy dinner is the 'Bavarian Inn Restaurant' and is not attached to the hotel in any way and says it closes at 8:00. We booked it there to arrive in time for a dinner only to see them seating people at 8:55. All of our issues revolved around meals/food, and younger staff members just joking around when you try to ask questions, but overall - my kiddos had a great time and that was the goal.

Very easy to book online and be sure to get a rewards sign up. We did a package that included pizza and pop, a chicken dinner at Zehnders, and a breakfast buffet for both mornings. The hotel is easy to spot next to Bronner's. The theme of gnomes and fairies is so adorable. Staff are awesome! They were so sweet to my daughter and us. Whether it was our waitress, lifeguards at the waterpark, or the front desk. We were able to check in early, so be sure to ask! Our room was one of the older rooms and was one of the ADA compliant rooms, which has larger doorways, no bathtub, a queen bed, and a seating area with a fireplace. The room decorations and everything in it are original. It's very desperately needs to get a facelift. The room was right off of the front desk in waterpark, so walking to the action only took a few steps. I noticed there is no recycling bin. There was a mini refrigerator, but the temperature control wasn't the greatest. Carpet was buckling. The seating area did have a pullout couch, but the couch itself was slippery with the fabric and pretty uncomfortable. Not sure how well house keeping was. There was a Nerf gun instructions paperwork behind one of our bedside nightstands. The water pressure was awesome. The bedding felt clean and the bed overall was comfortable. Housekeeping was able to give us a few more towels off their cleaning cart, which was nice. There is an arcade, but it's definitely not as big as the other hotel down the street. It's very crammed into one room. The pizza and cheese bread was absolutely delicious. Was not expecting that for a kid themed hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but the buffet items don't change. So the second day we were already kind of sick of the options. They do a nightly movie night in the lobby at 8 PM. If our daughter was older, we definitely would've snuggled up in the lobby to watch the movie. The waterpark was our favorite. Our daughter is just over two, and I was so surprised at how many things she was able to do. She even got to go on a waterslide with us, holding her to go down. Also, she was able to go down a waterslide all by herself, so she thought she was super cool! At the hotel down the street, there's barely anything for a two-year-old to do at their waterpark. She absolutely loved being able to wade in the water with the toddler pool going up to 2 feet. She also was brave enough to go under the big bucket that splashes. We stayed two nights and I think we went to the waterpark at least four or five times and she never got sick of it. There is a security checkpoint for the waterpark. Security will put UV light on your wristband to make sure it's not a fake also go through any bags that you're bringing into the waterpark. Do not bring towel towels, the waterpark provides towels for you. Additionally, they provide lifejackets. There are plenty of tables and chairs all along both water parks, the old side and the new side. The new side wasn't as toddler friendly. There was a small slide she could go down, otherwise there really wasn't much else for her to do. We had a great stay and I think with them updating all of the hotel rooms, I think Zehnder's is the place to be!
