However, the rides are really the only thing I have to say that's positive. Ride operations were poor at best. They take a long time to load and unload, with the only exceptions being Griffon and InvadR. The worst offender was Tempesto. In fact, the entire Festa Italia area had pretty poor operations, which is unfortunate since it has some of the best rides in the park. Tempesto is a very short ride, and in the time it took them just to load one train, it could have completed about eight cycles. I also found that Apollo's Chariot and Pantheon were pretty restrictive for larger riders. I'm not that big of a guy, and they had to squeeze me into both of them. (Also, there's a ride operator at Apollo's Chariot who will, without warning, shove the restraint into your thighs and is apparently not afraid to risk permanent damage to your future lineage.) I can't imagine having to push a wheelchair around this park. There are extremely steep hills everywhere. So if you're planning to visit and have a mobility disability, all I've got to say is: good luck. The food was kind of mid, with one exception: the pizza pretzel. That was actually pretty good. To sum it all up, if you only care about rides, this park is a great option. However, when it comes to literally everything else, it's pretty weak.

There is a secondary "kiddie land" Land of the Dragons that features a large treehouse and rope nets along with a few rides. There are also kiddie rides scattered throughout the European areas too. My oldest and I rode the coasters he was tall enough for. Favorites were the new Verbolten , the Big Bad Wolf, and DarKoaster. The railway is a good way to get to other areas of the park. My oldest also loved Escape from Pompeii and my youngest loved le scoot. We definitely plan to return in the future.

I haven't personally ever tried their food but they offer a few cafes and dipping dots throughout the park.

Laid out in zones with boardwalk style pathways you will find zebras, a bear, lions, rhinoceros, orangutans , giraffes, meerkats, reptiles, tortoises, turtles and more. While there are no elephants, hippos, camels, or larger primates they do have a nice assembly of animals. The otters and meerkats were especially active during our visit, playing and put on quite a show for us. It took us roughly 2 hours or so to walk the zoo and could have easily stayed longer if the heat was not so oppressive. Many of the animals were seeking relief from the heat as well and hiding so we missed out on the red pandas, cheetah, and some others. We did have a 30 minute wait to do the Funhouse so we decided to do the maze first. The maze wasn't very long, honestly probably five minutes or less to go through it, so we basically went back and forth through the maze numerous times to pass the time. I would give the maze a 6/10; it was decently fun, but would've been better if there was just more to it and it was longer. *they take and hold purses/bags with them behind the counter while you're in the maze; you get your purse back before you go upstairs though* As for the Selfie/Funhouse, I definitely loved the concepts/themes in the different rooms and the trippy aspects in each room. I recall there were only 4 rooms and a few decorated/themed walk through halls. I would give it an 8/10; I thought it was pretty cool. Definitely felt like it could've used a few more rooms/interactive areas. For what they provided though, I would say it was a pretty decent experience. You definitely go through the entire thing in about 15-20 minutes, so just like the maze, not very long; really just in and out. After doing it once, I don't see myself going back again unless they were to add some new aspects to the place. My overall rate of experience : 7/10

Nestled near the city's downtown area, this small park offers a peaceful retreat for locals and visitors alike. There is not much parking right next to the park but there seems to be street parking up the hill. The surrounding area is not the nicest area but if you can get to it, I think it is worth it. One of the nice features is the wide, unobstructed view of the river, where you can watch boats and ships pass by. The park is often quiet, making it an ideal spot for reflection or reading. Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout, offering seating options for those who want to enjoy the fresh air. A paved walking path is also great for a leisurely stroll. While the park doesn't have a playground or large recreational facilities, it's well-maintained and offers clean surroundings. A short walk brings you to a beautifully landscaped area with neatly trimmed grass and thoughtfully placed flowers. There is an aircraft carrier to one side and 2 large support ships to the other. Informational plaques in the park provide historical context about Newport News' maritime heritage. The plaque tells the story of how ¼ of all the soldiers returning from World War I came through this park to come home. I loved seeing the gardens and all the growth there already is. The snack bar was open which I was so happy about because it was time for dinner. I could not pass up the typical food offered at sports event. I got a hotdog, water ice, pretzel and nachos. Everything was great. There were two employees/volunteers and they were so much fun! They helped us a lot choose what to eat and gave great feedback.
