I stayed in Jersey for the weekend with a friend and we were looking for a hotel that was cheap,…read moreconveniently located and if possible, roach-free! This place actually surpassed all my expectations, bearing in mind that it was 60 quid a night (including breakfast) and only 5 minutes walk from the centre. The welcome was very friendly, with our bags being taken care of immediately. There is a large car park where you can park for free (get a permit from reception for a fiver's deposit or you'll get a fine). We were on the third floor with huge rooms that had lots of light streaming in. The beds were twins pushed together, but it didn't feel like it - they were very comfy. The bathrooms were huge, and the only toiletries provided were two small bars of soap, so don't rely on the hotel for shampoo. Towels were clean and fluffy and the only complaint I had was that the hot water for the shower can obviously be affected by other rooms. There was one sick bastard that kept turning his taps on and off at random, so my shower on the second morning went from Arctic to molten and back again several times. The breakfast was great the first morning - it is usually served from 8.30-9.30am, in a huge dining room, but we wanted to get away early, so they very kindly came in early and provided breakfast at 7.45am. It was lovely, we had the place to ourselves and were treated very well. The second morning, we arrived at 8.32am to find more pensioners than I thought were still with us, crammed in to the room! Luckily we all had assigned tables, so there was no problem getting a seat, but wow, we were the youngest people in that hotel by a good 50 years! Breakfast consisted of cereal and juice that one helped oneself to, then coffee/tea/toast and full English served at the table. I had boiled eggs, which were slightly overdone on day 1 (4 minutes) and slightly underdone on day 2 (3 minutes). Had I stayed for an extra day, I would have experimented with 3.5 minutes! The hotel is very slightly shabby, the photos on its website don't really hold up, but it does have an outdoor pool that looked clean and pleasant, it has an outdoor cafe that featured a Koi Carp pond (very cool) and a games room/bar. We didn't actually try any of these facilities, but it looked like quite a good place for kids. At least they would be spoilt by all the grandparents who were also holidaying there. I believe that several tour companies aimed for the more 'mature' traveller use the hotel, so there were coach loads of OAPs staying there. All in all, I would stay there again. It was really good value for the price, clean and definitely roach-free!

The rooms are nice and can't really complain about the room as for £80 ($120) it is reasonable mid range hotel. The air conditioning is good and the room very clean. The staff are very friendly and like to have a chat with you. They use to have a fish tank in the lobby and local legend is that they got rid of it after a drunk guy decided he would have a little swim in it! Don't believe me? Look up the hotel and man swimming in fish tank on youtube! The receptionist told me they had a refurb a d it happened to not be in the plan but all the locals will tell you different! Food in the hotel is adequate. I had a rib eye at night and while the steak was cooked to perfection the quality of the steak was not great for the price. Take off £10 and it was amazing but at current price not so much. It had a bit of that sinewy fat in It and i just think if you are paying £25 ($40) for a 10 oz. Ribeye then they really could do a bit better. It's a shame really as it was cooked perfectly. Someone is doing good work cooking wise as the scrambled eggs at breakfast were awesome but someone is also not buying well as the bacon in the morning was terrible as was the chewy fattiness of the steak at night! I would still stay here and recommend it as its nice hotel. Would i eat here though? Mayne if i couldn't be bothered going out. That's the only reason i ate here to tonight. If you have the energy then I would say go exploring!

Upon entry, you'll be greeted by a typical reception area, but it is where the corridors and hallways come into play you will be pleasantly surprised with the modern touches, such as the blue and red MK Ultra LED lighting. You will almost feel like you are part of a James Cameron film! http://www.whale.to/b/cameron5.html The room that I had was fairly small, so much so that I was unable to even take a photo of the bedroom nor get a photo of the bathroom. The bed was not the most comfortable that I have stayed in and it's proximity to the wall had me crashing into it a couple of times during my stay here. As is now de rigueur throughout most hotels, it had a small LCD TV alongside the obligatory tea and coffee making facilities. The room was fairly standard in its decor, however I must say I really, really, enjoyed the picture that was hung on the wall. A really nice touch. The bathroom was nicely decorated (perhaps even a recently refitted) and cleaned to a nice high standard. Do not expect expensive fittings here, but what was there was fairly new and certainly well presented. The shower was not to normal hotel-water-pressure standard, in that I like to have my skin pounded with pressure at the end of a long day before I go out. I visited both of the bars in the place on various nights. The first one is a typical hotel bar, but I was impressed by the vast array of different spirits they offered here. The other bar had light entertainment on one of the evenings, and although country music played by pensioners is perhaps not to everyone's tastes, they could actually play their instruments to a very high standard, and really knew their repertoire. Overall, I have no real complaints about anything in this hotel, and as ever the real litmus test is whether they have a Gideon Bible in the room, and the answer is YES and for this, they earn an extra star!
