First and foremost, the staff here are amazing! They introduced themselves and inquire about our likings and preference. In addition, they made recommendations that matched our likings while offering popular dishes that most recently ordered. Their mussels are absolutely amazing. The flavor paired with the green onion is on another holy level. Their seaweed butter and sourdough bread is also a must order. The crispiness of the crust is something other bakers need to contend with. Scallops had a nice Asian flavor to was hard to pinpoint but it definitely ruffled some thoughts about the origin of the sauce. Upon walking in, you'll be greeted with an ambiance that is sea themed and old pier like vibe. Don't be fooled by the decorations, no be distracted by the amazing drinks the bartender was crafting. This place is fun, has good vibes, and you'll wonder why you have not visited this establishment earlier. Great job team for delivering amazing service, food, and memories.

The food is prepared really well, and ingredients are super fresh though. Tried the little donut thing with caviar on top. That was the best bite of the meal. The caviar was so fresh. Was it worth the price? Hm, maybe not? The scallops were also great. Not overcooked. The fish and chips- great, moist. But hm, nothing really stood out. Also enjoyed the seaweed butter and fresh sour dough in the beginning. Overall, good experience. Nice service (people here are nice but not really warm- so it's an interesting vibe coming from the US). Probably great for a special occasion, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

A bar in the middle and mixed seating with table cloths gave it a fine dining feel. They are known for their extensive Wine and Champagne list and that definitely lived up to the billing. We ordered a bottle of Zuccardi 2021 Torrontes-light, fruity and paired perfectly with Brunch. Extensive list of Brunch selections that came out as a Seafood tower- Shrimp from Smögen, king crab, prawn salad, crayfish in garlic, seafood salad, cured fjord salmon, herring, fish pâté, smoked salmon, langoustine, cucumber and horseradish salad, eggs, bread, sauces-all so fresh and delicious! Fish and Chips were tasty and we finished with a White Chocolate Mousse. Service was friendly-that said, could've been more attentive. We did have a chance to speak with the owner and he shared how they've recently redesigned their interior. For our party of four, about $60 USD or 600 SEK per person for a Seafood Lover's Brunch. Lives up to "the city's coolest Sunday Brunch" billing!

This was also my first dining experience in…read moreSweden, so I guess this review should be taken through the prism of that fact - food is expensive, wine is very expensive - for a foodie/oenophile this is not the best news. The wine list looked okay - with a minimum price per bottle probably close to $60. Any wine can be had by the glass, with the price of the glass simply a quarter price of a bottle - don't know how big the pour is. As the result, my choice of drink was sparkling water. The restaurant offers the tasting menu with 3 dishes, but somehow I didn't feel like dessert (one of the 3 dishes), so I decided to create my own tasting menu. My first dish was seafood soup, some sort of a bisque, which was good but not necessarily a standout. For the second dish I was looking for something reasonably priced, so I ended up with the white asparagus creation, which again was okay, but rather small for the entrée dish - I guess you get what you pay for. Service was friendly but rather slow. No recommendation on this one - may be someone will make better choices.

We were a party of 3 and there were no small tables right by the window, our table had a great view of the sunset as the large tables by the window were empty. We ordered a bottle of the house red and it was quite nice and easy to drink. The price was very reasonable at 465 SEK. For appetizers, we ordered the Butter-fried Hokkaido bread with cream-fries chanterelles, hot-smoked wild duck, pickled silver onion and Swedish cheese and the kampot cured hamachi with jalapeño emulsion, baby gem, roasted pepper, finger lime, salt-roasted almonds and herb salad. For the main course, we ordered the daily lamb special, the butter- fried cod loin with chanterelles, pickled beetroot, hot smoked pork belly, baked celeriac, grated horseradish and butter chicken broth and the filet of beef with truffle-stewed leek, duck liver croquette, baked portobello, fried garlic, jus on roasted chicken and apple cider with fresh grated truffle. For dessert, we had the milk chocolate ganache with fermented black currant cream, Tonia ice cream, fresh currants, shiso and brown butter crisp and choux au craquelin filled with cream on roasted apple, crème brûlée foam, salt roasted macadamia, pressed apple with lemon thyme and ice cream on ginger. All dishes were excellent and really well done. While the appetizers came out rather fast, the main course took a while but it was worth the wait. The cod loin was so tender and flaky and melted in your mouth. The lamb dish was good and had some very good flavours and the beef was made very well, the sides that is came with stole the show. The desserts were both very good and not sweet. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

The atmosphere is great - very noble with floor lamps, armchairs etc. - but not too conservative. GASTRO - A little piece of heaven in Helsingborg!…read more We had the pleasure of having dinner at Gastro in Helsingborg, Sweden, 3rd of November 2018 on a Saturday evening. We had heard a lot of good things about the place, but we could not have foreseen the outstanding experience we had in wait for us there that evening. The restaurant is beautifully situated near the harbour of Helsingborg. The building - which is a former bank - have high ceilings, a cool décor, nice pleasant lighting and some very good acoustic properties to it. In the background played some dampened music at just the right volume. All these things combined made the perfect surroundings for what was about to be revealed. We were seated at our table - which we have made a reservation for - by a very nice staff member, who would be our waiter for the evening, and was so with an outstanding capacity! We started off with some cocktails - made with excellence. Then followed some lovely appetizers on two different plates with some seafood and some formula one cattle, garnished and made to look like little works of art. They tasted absolutely wonderful! Next up was some Fröya salmon, söl, Danish crab, brioche, pickled greens, smoked quails egg, apple, trout roe. You just got a smile on your face by this one! Third plate in in front of us revealed a combination of bleak roe, chestnuts, Jerusalem artichokes, Brussels sprouts. Made to perfection! After that fantastic treat came the next in the form of Langoustine from Mölle, "cannelloni, preserved tomatoes from Viken, parmesan cheese, Swedish squid, basil. By now we were in seventh heaven! To all of the courses above we drank a lovely 2015 Forge Cellar Riesling, NEW YORK, USA. After a great stroll down seafood lane, it was now time to shift gear, and we did indeed! In came hot plates with the most exquisite Lamb from Sinnarpsdalen, variation of cabbage, almond potatoes, goat cheese, beetroots boiled in blackberries, seasonal mushrooms. It all just melted in our mouths - we were just blown away by this! To this we decided on a very fine 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, GRANDES SERRES, RHÔNE, FRANCE. It was now time for some dessert! And we were treated with a Variation of blackberries, blueberries, vanilla and lemon verbena. A perfectly made finale to this heavenly treat our taste buds had been through! To accompany this work of art we went for another in the form of a glass of some nice sweet 2016 Petit Guiraud, SAUTERNS, BORDEAUX, FRANCE. At the end the only thing to say was; WOW! WHAT A RIDE! We can honestly state that we found a little piece of heaven that November night in Helsingborg - and we can wholeheartedly recommend restaurant GASTRO to anyone looking for a food experience which is nothing less than extraordinary! Thank you staff of GASTRO! - we will be back!
