I had taken a tour of Ireland ten years ago with my wife and three collage age children using Hammond. It was exceptional! The general tour was planned but the driver upon arrival suggested some alterations with the age and interests af my children in mind. The trip was unforgettable . It was before i was writing reviews, sorry. I just returned from a week long trip with my wife and two other couples to Ireland. again using Hammond. My wife planned the trip with an ensemble of employees, Farah, Michele, Joe and Susan. Upon arrival our driver James Jimmy Pierce met us at Dublin airport and guided us through our amazing tour. We crossed paths with his better looking brother Anthony Toni Pierce leading another group. Everything was a five star experience. The longer travel days was broken up by small town and pub visits to make the travel less tedious. Again Jimmy made point of interest stops that were relevant to our 65 age group, Whenever he dropped us off to wonder in a town for a few hours he said "Ill find you" and by goodness he would walk up just when our allotted time was winding down. We booked a tour through the Elders. Overall, I thought Hammond did a nice job. Luke, John, Mike, and our driver Philip were very knowledgeable. Being 110 of us, things *mostly* went off without a hitch. There were some days that were a little more disorganized (i.e. not leaving the airport the first day until $ hours after our flight came in), or where we didn't have time for lunch until 3 pm or not at all. We only spent 1 1/2 hours at Powerscourt Gardens (including eating, shopping, and looking at the scenery) on a nice day vs. spending 3 hours at the famine ship on a rainy day. 2 breakfasts were also missed (where as the flier says a full Irish breakfast included daily). At first we weren't sure about traveling with this kind of tour - what if we didn't like the people on the tour, or didn't want to stick with the group all the time? But we found it to be the perfect mix camaraderie and low commitment. If you wanted to do things on your own, you had more than enough opportunities to do so, but we made wonderful friends and thoroughly enjoyed doing things with various sized groups. Both Hammond trips I've been on with The Fenians (2009 & 2013) have been fantastic! Well-planned and perfectly orchestrated. They manage to show you a lot without making it feel rushed, and also provide enough variety that even though we visited the same cities in 2013 as we did in 2009, we were able to see entirely new sites and the only repeated experiences we had were by choice. Their coach drivers are very knowledgeable and add so much insight to the areas visited. They shared things we would never have found out traveling on our own. We stayed in nice hotels, and all breakfasts & several dinners were included so it's a great value (and breakfasts are so huge we often didn't even need lunch!). I want to tell you what a great time we had on our recent Hammond Tour of Ireland. The itinerary Hammond suggested was perfect and the hotel accommodations were very good. We felt we really experienced the beauty, the people and the general sense of the place. The highlight was, of course, our driver Jimmy. He was great! His suggestions as to places to visit, his commentary on those places, and the Irish people and their culture was most welcome. But what we enjoyed most was his constantly friendly demeanor which added immeasurably to our enjoyment of every day. We all appreciated going places the big tour busses couldn't get to, and not having to deal with the crowds...even when Jimmy had to put down his side view mirrors to make room for oncoming traffic on the narrow back roads in Ireland. Here's a hint: Instead of being concerned about your precious American Express account, you need to be concerned about your customers- the ones who pay the bills to American Express who use your services. "We don't make deal directly with customers, we only work through an American Express seating representative." Your customer service rep IS Hammond Tours It doesn't matter if you say you care, or if your ads promise good customer service. What matters is that you show that you care by helping the customer when they have a problem. This is your company's public face and your reputation is on the line. That customer service rep is Michele Hammond. And she is proof that your company doesn't care about its customers. She only cares about making the sale and sending the customer off a cliff. Michele Hammond creates your bottom line results When you come right down to it, it's almost always the lamest people who have actual contact with actual customers who create your bottom line results. It makes great economic sense to solve a problem with one phone call, not an impersonal kiss-off email response. Yet day after day, lame non-responsive and inept people, who are not smart enough to make direct and sympathetic decisions, handle the most important thing any company has - customers. It's really time for that policy to change. Customers matter. Treat us like you know that. Ms. Hammond, dear, in case you haven't noticed, the tourism industry is in crisis, and the country is in the midst of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. I just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful time we had with Altan on our recent tour to Northern Ireland and Donegal. The sights - music - stories were a daily delight. Keith was an amazing driver negotiating the narrow roads all the while telling stories, singing tunes!! And talking about the traditions and culture of the areas we passed through. Also members of Altan added their own music, stories and cultural info to the bus rides making a totally enjoyable experience. Had a wonderful time on the Blaggards Trip! This was my 4th trip to Ireland overall through Hammond Tour and was not disappointed. Some of the hotel rooms were small but all were beautiful & clean. The three dinners provided were very good! But of course the one constant on the trip was our amazing tour guide, Keith! His wealth of history and stories always keeps us entertained. He is always friendly and helpful with a smile on his face. His songs always brighten my day even after a long night of enjoying Ireland's nightlife!! Traveled with 23 family members on a tour of Ireland in March organized by Hammond Tours which included my 86 year old mother who is partially handicapped. Hammond had excellent customer service patiently handling and explaining all issues that arose including handicap accessibility and meal restrictions. We booked a tour with a large group. We've come to Ireland from SoCal. Our guide Michael, and the 3 coach (bus) drivers were fantastic! Our driver, Luke, was fun, witty, full of amazing stories and historical facts. He was kind and caring, and made sure each and every one of us had the best trip possible. Our guide Michael was charming and went above and beyond to make the group excursions fun and easy for us to enjoy. Timing 3 busses into small Irish locations is t easy. My mom fell the second night. Michael met my parents at the hospital, stayed until she was released and saw them back to our hotel. He then arranged for all remaining hotels to have their room closest to the elevator. Above, and beyond. We wanted a side trip to Còbh, or Cove, and Blarney. Michael arranged a small bus and saw to it everything was set up for a nominal extra fee. I can not say enough positives for this organization. I have now taken 3 tours through Hammond and all have been impeccable. read more

Hammond Tours leaves a lot to be desired. We booked a tour of Southwest Ireland. We arrived at Shannon Airport along with about 500 others simultaneouisely.Only two immigraetion agents to clear the whole mob. No indication which baggage carousel contained our luggage.A $ 35 euro cab ride (twice the usual mile rate) to our Inn (the only one available). Hotel has no elevator, walk up two flights. No dinner reservations so no dinner.Drunken wedding party guests roaming hotel at 2 AM. Room looks out on large air conditioning machinery. At another tour hotel the shower is not working, shower handle falls off in your hand. Last evening dinner is cancelled by Hammond with no explanation. Excellent guide and Ireland's beauty only good thing about this tour. Would not recommend. read more

My husband and I booked a trip with Hammond Tours and everything seemed to be great until we arrived at our accommodations in Ireland. Every place we stayed was less than adequate and we were booked at 4 and 5 star hotels. After seeing a pattern we finally asked a desk clerk if our accommodations had anything to do with our prepaid vouchers through Hammond tours and she said yes they could get more money for the rooms than what they received from our vouchers. Below are just a few things we encounter, I would have to have multiple pages to list everything. Our accommodations were the Brooks Hotel, Hayfield Manor, Malton Hotel, Park Hotel and the Adare Manor. At all of these locations we had either view of roofs, over parking garages, above the recycle bins, above the metal keg storage, next to a carnival with scary rides and the room had no AC so we had to leave the window open, over the entryway of the establishment, below to dining room, above to lobby where the nightly entertainment was held, moldy and musty rooms, etc. This was a trip my husband and I had waited for, for 6 years because we were raising our nephew. We contacted Hammond Tours while in Ireland as well as when we returned to the states and still to this date have received no response from them. I would never recommend them. read more

My sister and I traveled to Ireland in October, 2015 though Hammond Tours. It was an unforgettable trip. We had known we wanted to go to Ireland, but we weren't sure what cities/points of interest we wanted to see. Hammond Tours arranged everything perfectly for us, and they allowed us to modify our itinerary to skip areas we weren't interested in and add on days in places where we wanted to spend more time. The hotels we stayed in were top notch and centrally located, and we got upgraded in some places, which was nice. We didn't have a driver every day, just one to take us to each town where we stayed for 2-3 days. Our driver was outstanding--he taught us so much about the landscape and Irish history during our drives, and also played music for us when we he noticed us begin to doze off, haha :) He also modified our drive a bit based on his knowledge to make sure we made the most out of our drives. I would certainly book a trip with Hammond again, and would request our driver again for sure! read more

We had great tour of Ireland with Hammond Tours. The planning process with Joseph was a terrific experience. He was very knowledgeable and responsive. Joe gave great advice without being overbearing. Our driver Damien was fantastic! He was very accommodating and did a great job of suggesting tour stops along the way. He also went out of his way to suggest and arrange dinner and entertainment plans. Given that this was our first tour of Ireland his knowledge and tips were most appreciated by our group. Damien did his very best to make sure each person in our party had their "special Irish experience". The Mercedes Midi-van/coach we toured in was very well laid out and comfortable. All but one hotel met or exceeded our expectations. The rooms, grounds and the Irish breakfast were top notch. Our only disappointment was with one of the hotels. Our group did not believe it met the standard of a four star hotel. When asked, Hammond tours did make an adjustment which was most appreciated. Had the hotel in question been a true 4 star hotel or Hammond Tours volunteered to cover the hotel adjustment on our last night I would have rated them 5 stars. As is I think they were a 4.5. Our experience in Ireland was the trip of a lifetime! Lots of fun, lots of history and no stress. We would not hesitate to recommend Hammond Tours and look forward to working with them again. read more

My wife and I just returned from a week long visit to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. This was an incredible experience. We got a fantastic mix of culture, history, fun and even the magic of Ireland. Our driver was Michael Costello and he is unbelievable. We have had a number of professionally guided tours from Paris to LA. They were all great but none came close to Mike in delivering the perfect mix of fact, fiction, fun, and local help and advice. We are very particular on hotels and hotel rooms and between Michele Hammond, Mike, and the top venues themselves any minor concerns were immediately addressed.
