Came here to get a drink. Ordered a Mini Soda. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THAT SIZE…read more FALSE ADVERTISING. SO WHY ARE THEY NAMED THE UNIVERSE OF MINI SODAS. HUH. ZERO STARS. I have nothing against this University, and it seems kind of cool. I'm not going to turn up my nose and complain about their entrance standards because most of the kids around here seem as smart or smarter than that a lot of the other colleges so that doesn't seem to be a problem. It's just so damn cold up here so I don't envy anybody going to school around here. Some of the kids aren't the friendliest but that can be said about a lot of the schools these days. And of course there's a massive Stadium overlooking the whole little area and Dinkytown which is kind of part of this area is right next to it and possibly even cooler. And here is what I said about the Uni neighbourhood and Dinkytown, which is kinda part of it: More like the Looneyversatile District, because crazy folks wander these streets and the food around here is quite versatile. I'm in love with the University District of Minneapolis - it's just absolutely fabulous. Lots of beautiful people and lots of fun and energy and excitement. Not always the safest neighbourhood but definitely a very enjoyable part of town. Also lots of great ethnic food and fun things happening and some delicious bubble tea and just basically one of the coolest University Districts in the whole of the Great Lakes region. And here's what I had to say about Dinkytown, which is sort of part of this district: Not to be confused with Dickytown, which is full of men that love men. Or Dingytown which is run down. Or Ditzytown where Barbie and I live. Dinkytown is basically college kid Paradise because you have everything you would want within about 5 square blocks and it's fun and young and energetic and there's places to drink and pharmacies and places to drink and restaurants and places to drink and did I mention that there are places to drink around here as well. Many residence Halls are here and it's just basically a really cool part of town where all the college students are and I highly recommend that if you come to Minneapolis, and you want to be where the action is in the afternoons or evenings of any given day, then I recommend coming to Dinkytown cuz it's pretty awesome. The Korean place was really good and a there's lot of other good food places around and you can't really go wrong. There's also two Kung Fu Tea locations within a few blocks and a Chatime, and a Darque Tan, and a Sencha Tea Bar and a Bambu, and if you've got like half a dozen Boba joints or more within a few Square blacks than you know you are in a very cool area. And it's not even Chinatown. It's for everybody. Kung Fu Tea makes the best drinks out of all of those. Lemon Black Tea FTW. But the Sencha around here is really nice and much nicer than the other locations if you have been to all of them like I have - even one in Madison. Perfect neighbourhood. And don't accidentally go to Dixietown. It's in Alabama. And you might end up in the Slammer.

I attempted to transfer to Normandale Community College to University of Minnesota Twin Cities but of course like all students transcripts are required. I was told multiple times that Normandale does not transfer transcripts due to U of M's lack of organization, so they stated I HAVE to go through National Student Clearinghouse. I was accepting of that. Until they managed to lose that transcript. How does one lose an e-transcript? Another issue was on my application I had "College of Lake County." also known as "CLC" with the correct address, located in Grayslake, Illinois. I remember this clearly. However they argued with me profusely stating I needed a letter from "CLC" "Central Lakes College" in Minnesota. That was mailed. And they lost that as well. This has been an awful experience and honestly because it has been this difficult to get into this school, I am no longer interested in applying. It's an average school. From what I have read professors are busy with graduates while soon to be graduates are teaching the undergraduate classes which are 40-200 depending on what class you take. U of M does not have the best interest of their students in mind. They have lost sight of their future: the students. I recommend doing an overhaul of the more important departments. Like Admissions. Calling in four times and each time stating to correct name and address? That is ridiculous.

I have never taken a course at the University of Minnesota (UMN). I used to hang out in this area…read moremainly because I like Dinkytown, which is the heart of UMN student life. I like the stores and good eats in this neighbourhood. I've always felt comfortable visiting universities and checking out campuses. It's no different here. I had a friend who got his master and doctorate degrees from this university, so I got to hear about his experiences when we both lived in Minnesota. I am a hockey fan. The UMN has a decent hockey program, both men's and women's. You often see local talent make it to the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Frost rosters, respectively. Alex Goligoski, who recently retired from the NHL, played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers at UMN before he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup with this team, but spent his last three years with the Wild as a defenseman. During his 1,000th NHL game, he scored the game-winning goal, which was quite the storybook ending. As of late, Brock Faber is a solid defenseman on the Wild. He is starting his second full season with the team and was captain of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He is young, but exceptionally skilled and mature beyond his years. Taylor Heise, who is a forward for the PWHL's Minnesota Frost, played for the Minnesota women's hockey team. The Frost won the Walter Cup and she won the Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP award. If I were looking into academics, UMN has both computer science and mathematics departments that would have appealed to me. It is similar to York University in that you can choose to do either a Bachelor of Arts or Science in either field. Only a Master of Science is available in both. You can also study towards a PhD in either domain. UMN has a Bachelor of Science in Technical Writing and Communication. Many universities start off offering Technical Writing degrees as an Arts degree. I like the shift with universities going with a Bachelor of Science. Technical writers are needed more than ever to explain technical, complex details as clearly and concisely in engineering, medical, and more. It's makes more sense that it's a Science degree. This university does not offer graduate degrees in Technical Writing. It's one reason why I didn't do my Master's here. I don't have any inclination to get a doctorate. If UMN offered one in my chosen field, I'd consider it if the price is affordable and I could do it remotely. It was nice being back in the area. (394)

They advertise wanting to support students, but every time I had shown up with a concern or issue, I was constantly dismissed and felt invalidated. For an adult learner, they offer the "Augsburg for Adults" or AFA program. This program recognizes the needs of a busy adult with a full time job and a family and still allows you to complete a traditional 4 year bachelor's degree, at a real accredited college. Signing up as an adult, you are allowed to transfer in a lot of the credits you may have done at a prior college. If you started but never finished, or did a 2 year at a community college, or even a little bit of trade school (or for-profit schooling) you will have some of your credits transfer. Classes are offered every other weekend, in 4 hour long sessions. So the classroom time equals out to be the exact same as a regular daytime student in a traditional program.... you are just condensing it into bigger blocks, so you don't have to show up as often. Having class only twice a month works well for me as an adult. The cost is reasonable for a private college - though much higher than a community college. A traditional 4 credit class at Augsburg in the AFA program is around $1,700. They work with your employer if you have tuition reimbursement available. Also, this isn't really well known, but there is a regional student loan program out of North Dakota called the DEAL loan. This is probably one of the best private loans available out there. Luckily Minnesota students are eligible (only3 or 4 states are eligible). Look into that and into federal stafford loans if you need some financing. The instructors have generally been top notch professors, although I have had a couple stinkers. One was a tenured professor who was absolutely full of himself, and one was a grad student who was trying to make some money as a part time instructor. Both were terrible. Otherwise though I've been very pleased with the teaching talent at Augsburg. If you're an adult learner, I find that the AFA program is a really good fit and there is a lot of support for adult learners. The staff in this program are very supportive in making you feel like you get the whole college experience yet also have your unique needs as an adult student taken care of. It's been a great experience for me. I've got less than a year left to graduation with two degrees!
