I want to highlight the extraordinary care, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated by the ownership, staff, and administration at Lightbridge Academy. These individuals consistently go above and beyond to ensure the safety, well-being, and development of every child. In our case, they collaborated with external experts, including my son's grandmother (a DCF supervisor) and a regional manager from Children's Specialized Hospital, to address the emotional challenges my son was experiencing. This collaborative effort underscores their commitment to the holistic care of children. Unfortunately, the only opposition to these efforts came from Lauren P. and Patty P., who were unwilling to cooperate for the betterment of my child. It is disingenuous for them to cast blame on an organization that showed such willingness to help, especially when they themselves refused to support a united approach. For instance, they've alleged that Lightbridge Academy violated state protocols by keeping my son in a room for two hours, yet they omit a critical detail: they specifically instructed the staff not to contact his father during an outburst--even though he was just eight minutes away. Lightbridge Academy was following their directive, so any blame for this situation rests with them, not the facility. It is both shocking and disappointing that these baseless accusations are being leveled against a daycare that has shown nothing but compassion and professionalism. We maintain thorough records and evidence to refute these claims. Lightbridge Academy did everything possible to navigate complex challenges, including instances of parental alienation, manipulation, and misinformation, all while prioritizing the best interests of my son. For three weeks, my son experienced emotional outbursts, often immediately following drop-offs by his mother. The staff consistently went out of their way to support him, employing strategies like emotional redirection, personalized activities, and special accommodations to help him adjust. This level of care has been a hallmark of Lightbridge Academy throughout my son's time there--from when he was just four months old until November 2024. As someone with insight into daycare standards (thanks to my mother's role with DCF), I can confidently say Lightbridge Academy is exemplary. It is deeply unfair to see this business--one that treats every child as if they were their own--be maligned for issues rooted in parenting challenges, not institutional failings. I was there for a political meeting and it was a first look. The space was large. It looked like a community hall with piano, stage, tables and chairs, and a kitchen off to the side. The man I was sitting next to said he came there frequently and enjoyed all the organized activities offered by the Township staff. It is good when a community cares enough about its older folks to provide them with a place to congregate and socialize. It gives retirees motivation and a ready source of friendship. We should all hope our parents have such an opportunity close to home.

The rates are very reasonable ($35/month $150-$225 per year, depending if you want to use the pool). You don't need to deal with a contract or difficulty cancelling like all of the other gym reviews I've been reading. The gym itself is small but it's rarely crowded at all. I tend to go there after dinner and I'm often the only one there or maybe 2-3 others tops. It does get more crowded in the late afternoon but you usually don't need to wait to get on anything. They have a good selection of fitness machines, though most are a bit older. The free weight area is what I use most and it is very adequate. Though there are no bells and whistles, no locker room, no juice bar, no childcare, no sauna, etc, it's no frills, inexpensive, convenient, not crowded, and you can get in a good workout if that's all you want to do. For me that's what I'm looking for. The hours aren't the best, most nights they are open only until 9:00 p.m., Fridays until 8pm and Saturday only until 3 and Sunday only until 2:00!

My son attended 2 weeklong camps here this summer: Bugs and Slugs, and Swim Camp. The pool is fantastic, with an awe-inspiring slide. He made a goal to go down that slide 200 times during his 2 weeks, and I believe he succeeded. Lifeguards are spot-on, and they test all the kids to make sure they're capable of swimming in the deep end: those who can get to wear a neon colored bracelet for easy identification. In addition to the pool, there are beautiful fields and picnic areas, and a sizable gym for rainy day activities. Great location in the outer reaches of Hamilton Township. Most of the counselors we encountered were great, too. Well-trained, helpful, and friendly. The camp sessions are on the costly side, but the quality of the programs makes it worth it. My only complaint is that check-out is a nightmare. I bypassed that chaos on most days by arriving a bit early and signing my son out - a staff member would bring him to me that way. The kids and their counselors were all rounded up and assembled by that time, anyway - about a half hour prior to dismissal, so I don't believe I was throwing a wrench into the process (hopefully). I like to follow rules, generally speaking, but waiting in that line in the hot sun was just nuts. Other than that, the summer programs at the Y were great experience for my son.
