Since Dr. Newland took over, Hamilton is back to being the best around! We have a 17 year old cat, that we have been taking there as of 3 years ago now. They done a great job with dental cleanings and tooth removal, her full checkups (bloodwork, urine, fecal, etc.). You can see the love and care that shines through with Dr. Newland and Dr. Seymore, as well as their staff. They make you feel as at home and ease as possible with each visit. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! The entitlement within this practice is insane. I went for a check up with one of my felines that had asthma, without any consent they took blood and did not speak to me until I noticed him licking his neck, then try to give me a $600 bill for blood work. I have owned a cat for 20 years and have never had a veterinarian do something without my consent then try to charge me an arm and a leg for bloodwork that they think I need. I only found out once I asked hey why is my cat licking his neck? Then they proceeded to tell me that they drew blood and were upset that I was upset and called it protocal. That's not protocol, that's entitlement and thinking I'm dumb enough to pay that. read more

Dr.Newland and Dr.Seymour are both amazing and knowledgeable doctors. They have gone above and beyond to thoroughly explain many things that I did not fully understand to make sure my pet has had the best care possible. They are very patient with my pets and it is very apparent how much they care and love for animals. All of my dogs love coming here to see both of them! Not only has Dr.Newland been amazing with my pets she has even gone out of her way to help me when I took in a foster puppy who was unfortunately surrendered to me and very ill. I, like many others, am really picky when it comes to taking my fur baby to vet. I pick out doctors out for Lucky like I would pick them out for myself- and I would NEVER have taken lucky there if I had known that Dr. Hamilton had retired. This was within the first week that Dr. Mann had taken over and let's just say he had absolutely no idea how to handle my dog. Keep in mind, Lucky is a 23 pound miniature dachshund (aka a weenie dog!) He tried to take blood from Luckys neck and everybody who knows the slightest thing about animals should know you never touch an animal neck unless you know them because they will attack. Lucky isnt the kind of dog that would attack and he didn't even attack him but I just didn't like the fact that he went straight for his neck. Lucky has been going to Dr. Hamilton for the past six years and he always has taken blood from his paw and when I told him that he told me that he doesn't know what he's doing that there's a larger vain his neck. Strike one. Don't go against my word. This is MY dog and if I ask kindly to take blood from his paw, then respectfully do it. Lucky started freaking out because some heavily sweating fresh outta college dude was poking at his neck. Strike two. Lucky was freaking out and getting so scared they tried to remove him from me and take him into a different room to try to get his blood. When he picks him up to take Lucky away looking made the scariest sounding noises and actually defecated himself on the nurse. I kinda lost it at that point and had to yell at them. Their only response was that " Dr. Mann was bitten earlier that day and other dogs could sense it." No kidding you were bitten! You don't know how to handle dogs!!!!!!!! Poor lucky was absolutely exhausted after this whole ordeal. He's farrrr more expensive than Dr. Hamilton too. I no longer take lucky here and wouldn't recommend him to anyone else. He was also flirting pretty hard with me after everything was said and done. Not sure if he was trying to smooth over what just happened but it was a really weird visit. read more

I call and say I need to get Flash in for an allergy shot, and since he's been going there since a pup, they don't even question who is calling. I love that! Their rates beat most, if not everyone in town, and when I would ask Dr. Hamliton for a script to take w/ me because I could get it cheaper, he would ask me for how much & where. We have been going to Hamilton after a horrific experience at Berkley around late 2020. Since then, we have brought all 3 of our cats and have seen both Dr Seymour and Dr Newland, who are both just amazing! Fantastic bedside service, always explain everything great, and handle our pets with care. We've also had nothing but great experiences with the front desk staff as well! We have been going to Hamilton animal hospital for 43 years, when Dr Hamilton started it. Dr Newland took over practice first part of this year and our yellow lab Sierra took to her fondly on her first visit. Had to take her in again a week ago and Dr Newland and her staff were great with the new virus restrictions going on. Coming out to car to get your pet and bringing them back out when done and the doctor took time to talk to you. Dr Newland seems to sincerely care about our dog and does not try to always sell you a new vaccine or health product. Very happy with her and glad she took over the practice. read more

This used to be our vet. Thought the monthly plan was great but we lost all trust in our vet after he misdiagnosed our dog twice and suggested we have surgery after multiple xrays. Luckily I took him to another vet for a second opinion and they ran a full blood screen, showing his underlying issues and came up with a treatment plan. I first chose Hamilton Animal Hospital because of the closeness in proximity to home. Now that I live at the other end of the world, they're still my animals doctor because quite simply, it's worth the drive. Dr. Hamilton and his staff are some of the nicest and most attentive people I have ever met. They pay attention to details, always remembering my pets names and finicky habits without having to even glance at a chart. Normally, my animals get a bit skittish when they're out of their comfort zone, but the calming and friendly demeanor of Dr Hamilton and his staff puts them right at ease! ATTENTION: Dr. Hamilton has retired. So while he was a compassionate and attentive vet, his replacement is most certainly not. Dr. Mann (sp.?), the new vet at Hamilton Animal Hospital lacks bedside manner, shows little compassion for grieving families, and has rude office staff. Recently, my mother (who has been a client of Hamilton since ~1976) lost an elderly cat. In the process of euthanizing the cat, Dr. Mann repeatedly attempted to remove the cat from the room (to perform the euthanizing) against my mother's consent and then charged her for services not performed and the staff had the stones to argue the charges with her. Also, they have a creepy/unsettling deal with their cremation company. Apparently, they give free mass cremations, but gouge pet lovers who want a private cremation (charging 100% more than the average going rate for a private cremation). It doesn't seem right. I'm glad that my mom has chosen to leave this practice after almost 40 years. read more

I had not been to doctor Mann before. I chose to my my 15 year old cat Lilly there because she was not looking well. I wanted to go some place close to me to minimize her rude in the car. Dr Mann was wonderful with my baby. He treated her and ran some blood tests. I took her back and she was not doing well again. Long story short I ended up having to put my dear Lilly to sleep at an emergency clinic on New Year's Eve. Even though it was not done at his clinic I still received a condolence card. We have always used this vet for anything outside of vaccinations, and unfortunately had an elderly animal that was no longer eating and in severe pain. I attempted to call this office from the number on here and was hung up on three times. The third time was greeted with a "stop calling, it's not going to work" when they answered and hung up. I work nearby and proceeded to drive there. I went in and asked if they could help me. I was informed that they "do not perform non-client euthanizations" The woman at the desk was also very rude about where I had been taking our dog for vaccinations because we had been using a local municipalities' vaccination clinic. I will never take any of our animals there ever again. I would consider this as close to a time of need as we have ever had, and they did not help, and further used it to talk down to us. read more

I was skeptical as well after being a patient of Dr Hamilton for nearly 30 years...but over the past year Dr Mann and his staff have proven themselves to me and I wouldn't take me fur babies anywhere else. Dr Mann knows his stuff and handles my furry friends with skill and kindness, always taking the time to explain things and address my concerns -as does all his wonderful caring staff. I feel like a huge pain in the ass most of the time, but they never give the impression I'm troubling them at all. My little dog was nearly dead a year ago from a rare disease that needs frequent monitoring and care for the remainder of her life, and is thriving today because of the love and attention at Hamilton Animal Hospital. I've been bringing my animals to Hamilton Animal Hospital for the last 3 years. It is always easy to book an appointment, even short notice. I also love that there is not usually a wait time. Dr. Mann is great with dogs and cats. He's also real with you regarding what is necessary for your animals and doesn't try to up sell you on expensive interventions when they aren't necessary. They don't have all the frills of some of the larger veterinary practices in Oakland County, but that doesn't bother me one bit. They do have a new laser system that helped out my dog during one particularly bad ear infection. They also recently implemented a system where I was sent health cards for all my pets with their age, weight, and vaccinations. When I moved to a new apartment, this made the process extremely simple and the apartment staff even complimented how convenient they were Prices are fair. I love going to see this Vet...AND his lovely staff of ladies!! I was referred by a co-worker a couple of years ago when I adopted my first Pug. I love that one of the Ladies is a long time Pug Mom, and she predicted that I'd add another to our family....and we did. Dr Hamilton takes a good long time with us, never rushed, very calm and gentle. The prices are great, it's very personal and warm. I, too, used to live in close proximity, but have since moved. I have been going to Hamilton for over 20 years. Dr. Hamilton was a caring, competent and low cost vet. Upon his retirement and sale of his practice I continued to patronize Hamilton Animal Hospital. I found Dr. Mann to be a step up from Dr. Hamilton. While his methodology was different, I sensed that his knowledge and demeanor was state of the art. Upon reading other's poor reviews, I found them to be unfair, and unjust. If you go here with an open mind, I think you will find a doctor that cares deeply about the health of your pet, and has the knowledge and background to keep them healthy. Additionally, the office is clean, and modernized, and the staff is attentive and supportive. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. read more

We were going to Dr. Hamilton for many years and liked him. I was nervous about the new vet, Dr. Mann, but he has been great. When our dog needed her teeth cleaned Dr. Mann told me he would call afterward to let me know how our dog was. . . we didn't have to wait all day to find out. When our dog needed to be on an IV for the last 3 months of her life Dr. Mann was very informative about what we were doing. When it came time to put her to sleep, Dr. Mann was very compassionate. He spent time with us, told us what would happen, and gave us as much time as we needed to be with her to make our final decision. He took her in another room to put an IV needle in her leg, brought her back into the room to spend more time. He told us to call him back in the room when we were ready. It was the end of the day and they never rushed us. We received a condolence card in the mail the following week signed by Dr. Mann and each staff member. I recommend him highly. read more
