We are a family-friendly park, complete with a beach, playground, camping facilities, boat launch and marina, and even a store stocked with snacks, essentials, and gifts. The staff takes customer service seriously, and makes every effort to make park visitors feel welcomed and comfortable....like extended family. I have reached out to Phillip, the post previous to this one, but to no avail. Phillip, we've been in the Directorship of OSP since October 2013, and sincerely hope you will come back for a visit....we think you'll find it a different environment. Come check us out!

I went and saw an attendant of the grounds and the house is open only on Saturdays for tours. She recommended that I explore the grounds- and they were beautiful. (They are open every day.). Maybe a little clarification on the times listed in this posting would be beneficial. I'll give it three stars just cause the grounds were so pleasant and beautiful.

Located in Twin City, Georgia, is a serene retreat spanning 1,634 acres with a 412-acre mill pond surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped in Spanish moss, creating a picturesque and tranquil environment. The park's centerpiece is the historic Parrish Mill, a combination gristmill, sawmill, covered bridge, and dam built in 1880. The mill, restored in 1998, occasionally operates and can grind up to 200 pounds of corn per hour, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history. We had a very hard time getting our camper backed in due to the trees. We actually damaged the side of our travel trailer. There was an experienced truck driver in the camp and he came to help along with other campers. Even with that it took 45 minutes to get into our lot. We have a 27' travel trailer.

The park is maintained by the Rotary club but the trails are paved and easy to follow as well. There are also some benches scattered throughout the park, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery. I love that this park is so well-connected to nature, so many different species of trees and you can see the creek everywhere. Clean, accessible restrooms and places to sit and eat. What sets the park apart from others, however, is the stunning view of an old mill and the waterfall / creek that surround it. It's a little bit of an adventure to hike down to if you're doing it with younger kinds, but very doable and totally worth it. This would be a wonderful place to go to take some nature-esq photos, or just quietly exist and meditate for a while. During our visit on a weekday evening we were the only ones there and it was incredibly peaceful and quiet. Definitely worth the little drive out from the highways to get out to it.

We missed the street that takes you to the park twice, when we finally found the place it had ample parking available. There is a playground which was packed on the Sunday afternoon that we visited. The restrooms are located next to the playground and were relatively clean. The park offers plenty of shade and was well maintained. There was a small outdoor gym where I saw 1 person utilizing. I saw people playing catch in the open field and several people were walking their dogs. You can walk, run or bike ride on the trail. There is a very peaceful area that over looks the river where we took pictures. We were able to get in several miles and more than my required steps for the day. I look forward to coming back to Amerson River Park.

If you like to meditate or just need a place to clear your head, this is the place. The parking is free and you can enter the park from two separate places. I highly recommend this park for its quiet and because it is much less crowded than other Atlanta parks.
