WARNING: UNETHICAL BUSINESS & ACCOUNTING PRACTICES: I won't…read morethrow the entire corp under this umbrella (yet); but beware of doing business with the Cascade/McCall division in Idaho. Avoid at all costs OR *DO NOT EVER* agree to terms of "card on file" payment. I offered that courtesy last month and they have displayed some of the worst business practices I have ever seen. After securing my card number: they never call me back (even for casual/kind voicemail requests for a simple RECEIPT), the have never provided receipts or invoices of any kind. Often the mailbox is full, deterring communication. In fact, on a Friday afternoon (8/28/2020) at 3p (well within normal business hours) I called for the 7th (?) time. I (finally) spoke to a human; who I believe to have been the "manager" Ed? I kindly asked who I could talk to to get receipts and/or invoices for purchases posted on my bank account for a specific project. There is nothing unusual about this request, and quite frankly: I shouldn't have to ask. I was told "No problem! The person you need is Anna, she is gone but will be back tomorrow." The man (Ed?) was able to look & tell me how much ($) per-yard we were being charged (allegedly). I replied as normal - "Ok! Thank you!" The next day was Saturday: whether they're supposed to be open on Saturdays or not, I don't know at this point but I have NEVER received a call back from Knife River in any way/shape/or form and I have been kind and understanding until this incident. They have abused my kindness & understanding. I am the OWNER of the company they are charging and being treated like a low-level idiot. Low-and-behold the next day (Saturday) a charge is seen pending for $4,155 - mysteriously processed AFTER my phone call the day before. So, the mystery man isn't able to give me invoice/receipt information; no one will call me back regarding my concern for NEVER having received any; but they're able to process a mysterious & blind charge of $4,155? Mind you: they hadn't been on our site for nearly 2 weeks and "usually" charge the day-of. I called that day the charge posted (Saturday) and got voicemail. I explained my experience from the day before and told them at this point I am losing my "understanding" and concerned. I explicitly said: "You are no longer authorized to use that card on file until I see and review receipts/invoices." I also informed them that I would be disputing the charge directly with my bank (who agrees with me 100% - although I feel no need for justification). NO CALL/NOTHING. I won't accept a COVID excuse either. There is nearly 2 months of the time in question and even the most-reduced businesses can return a call. MONDAY (8/31-2020), (2 days later) ANOTHER CHARGE for $739 (with zero communication). For what? How many yards and at what rate? What date(s)? Who knows? I don't. That's the point of Invoices and Receipts. They are not willing to be accountable, will not communicate in any fashion and are not abiding by basic business ethics or sound accounting practices. I gave them an email address, they have my information. Amounts are disputed, card is closed. They can contact me if they want to discuss payment. I've also reached out to the Boise Location, and 2 phone numbers with "Corporate." I hope to hear back or I will dispute every charge I've ever had with Knife River. Also (because my patience is gone) - the crew that showed up to our site was on pretty much every occasion, RUDE and unprofessional. We get it. You're the "only vendor" in the area. It's remote. This does not justify any of the behavior we have experienced.
