I'm here 1-2x per year if friends request to go. I'm usually one and done. Drinks aren't that great, and they're not well-balanced. They are more affordable than craft cocktails elsewhere, but you get what you pay for. Back to the service. We have experienced the most awkward rude service here repeatedly, which is so odd, as we know most of the long time bartenders around town and don't experience the same elsewhere. I'm not sure if it's management, a bro, toxic male culture, or what, but these dudes are jerks. It had to be said. If it was once or twice, fine, but something's amiss. Sorry, guys. Do better. We are trying to support you, but you make it so difficult.

You find yourself randomly in the outer burbs at Top Golf, Jungle Jims's or Liberty Center, and you want a delicious local craft or bourbon bar. You look around and see tons of strip malls and chains. What's a local to do? Map yourself to nearby downtown Middletown, a charming reemerging historic city. On the outskirts of the downtown area, park easily on the street (or behind) and find yourself at a local husband and wife owned distillery. Here, you will find the real deal. Plentiful bourbon selection, owners who understand booze and make it too, peanuts, comfortable seating, friendly locals who care, great music, events, proximity to local events downtown, and access to delicious eats. And reasonable drinks! No longer are we going to pay $17 for our old fashioneds. We have found the place and it is here. Try the Mike's Old Fashioned, then walk out to the back patio, have a smoke, or cross the green space and find yourself at New Ales with delicious pizza. Highly recommended for a drive or if in the area.

White Dog Ice Tea was their version of a Long Island, and was refreshing, tart, and not overly boozy tasting. They also participate in DORA, so you can take your drinks and walk around town (designated area). Really cool. Clean place. Air conditioned well for a hot summer day. Great customer service. This distillery is interesting because they were the largest mail order alcohol provider back in the 1800s. The owner showcased some of their classic whiskeys between their bourbons and their ryes then brought us back to the barrels that you can bottle from and gave us a tasting to help us choose which barrels we would want to bottle. I ended up blending two barrels for an incredibly smooth bourbon that I'm excited to open up! We ended with a couple more tastings to choose between the maple rye and maple bourbon. We left with a couple bottles and an experience that we won't forget! The space is extremely small but I felt like it helped with the intimate experience. I think I'll have to make it back soon to support this fantastic small business bringing back some history! Overall, highly recommend!!
