We knew we would need daycare once our baby turned 6 weeks and the search was overwhelming and scary, especially for first time parents, but once we met with Jeanelle and Alycia we felt so much more at ease and like we had a team ready for our nugget. It's been such a joy working with them since and how accommodating and inclusive they are. Would recommend to anyone We love you guys!!

Also, please look at the dates for the positive reviews here and on google. The positive reviews are almost always in response to a negative one, meaning they have to request positive responses. This was a complete disappointment. Initially we were excited to have our 4-year-old start at Briar Rose. We did a tour with the owner Melanie and was presented with a service that sounded perfect. Our child had previously been in a bilingual daycare and was told that this was a bilingual school as well. My wife speaks fluent Spanish, and this is a requirement for my child. We had our questions like "How long has your staff been teaching?" and the answer was 7-8 years "Will my son continue his Spanish" and the answer "our teachers are bilingual". All of these questions were skillfully answered by Melanie. Two weeks later and my child's first day arrives. My wonderful wife does the drop off. She said it went well, but mentioned that the teacher seemed new. I come to pick up my son, at 4:30pm. Melanie said a quick hi, introduced me to the teacher (which I will not name, this review is not about her personally). The teacher was polite but too young to have 7-8 years of experience. I asked her how long she had been teaching and she replied "I have only had my own class for three weeks." We were never informed of a new instructor. We were told on our first visit the teacher had "personal issue" to take care of. After going over this with my wife we decided that this was not what we had been told, and simply wanted to cancel, get some sort of refund, and find another place. We wanted the refund due to being lied to. The teacher being brand new (not 7-8 years experienced) and not bilingual as Melanie had told me on a follow up phone call. Melanie was very disagreeable and offered several rebuttals always mentioning the contract. Unfortunately none of them addressed the bait and switch that took place. Melanie stated that they had passed on many students since my son had taken the spot, at the time we met, 10 days earlier, there was 7 openings in the Poppy Classroom, which at the time of this post an still be seen on their website. I was also told that "it is unfortunate that my son has a dad that makes quick assumptions." Which I took as an insult. As a parent, quick assumptions are necessary for the protection of any child. We can't sit in the classroom with them, we have to make assumptions. And still I was not making assumptions, just re-iterating the misinformation that I was given. Melanie continued to refer to the contract, and I continued to refer to back to the misinformation, regarding their school and what is advertised on the website. The site says Spanish speaking, with teacher Katie in the Poppy Classroom, Katie was not the teacher. The new teacher is not on the website all. Melanie is not on the website at all (correction, she is there but the photo isn't her). After further review many of the staff pictures are repeated with different names. I took screenshots of this information as it will most likely be remedied after this posting. It did not end well. Myself without a refund and them without a new student. This situation could have and can be easily resolved with a simple refund. Contract law is more important to them than customer service and honesty. Later Melanie attempted to trespass me from the property. I haven't even received a speeding ticket in 20 years. Ivette (the other owner) claimed I was "unacceptable, threatening and extremely demeaning" on a phone call that she wasn't on and I have recorded (100% legal in Oregon, and recommend everyone do due to situations like this). I never raised my voice and was extremely respectful. Ivette and Melanie immediately jumped to being victims the moment they had to confront adversity. I spoke directly to the officer involved and he also didn't understand their motives. As of this post they still have not returned all of my son's belongings.

We started our 3.5-year-old daughter here for her first exposure/experience with daycare/preschool…read moreor anything of that sort. We knew it would be an adjustment for her and us, but we felt comfortable that the school was prepared for it. Ultimately, we unenrolled her after a week due to an incident and how it was handled. We weren't alerted until 90 minutes after the incident (which included a large scratch on her face and a large knot on her head), and we were told a completely different story than what happened (details below). A boy in our daughter's class was upset, and as she was standing next to the teacher, he shoved her into the wall, where she hit her face on the wall and head on the ground. We know things like this can happen when you have roughly 6 new kids starting in one class at one time (with just one teacher), but the biggest issue we had was how (and when) we were alerted. We were sent a notification in the app 90 minutes after the incident took place and the message said it was a kid who bumped into her while everyone was playing and she was fine, a small scratch and a pure accident. When I arrived to the school and saw her with massive scratches on her face (which still have not fully healed and we hope don't scar) and a large knot on her head it seemed to be a bigger incident than we were told. Not only that, the incident report said it was an intentional act with the kid being upset - very different than what we were told via the message in the app. I do think this is a unique situation and likely wouldn't happen again, and I have nothing but good things to say about those who work at the front. But we were unable to look past the delay in alerting us coupled with the different story being told on what actually took place. If I were a prospective parent I would advise you ask about how many new kids are starting at once and what support that teacher would have as well as what their communication plan is when an incident takes place and the staff is on a tour.

The facility is clean and secure and the staff is polite and professional. The school uses newer technologies to provide parents with excellent communication and lots of pictures. The principal also regularly sends messages or emails about events, staffing changes, and other happenings at the school. The teachers did a great job implementing the curriculum and our daughter loved working with them. We were also given informative updates about her developmental progress through periodic conferences. Although the COVID pandemic disrupted all daycares in 2020, the school handled it as well as they could. Overall, Touchstone took great care of my daughter and set her up to succeed in elementary school, and I highly recommend it.

My children attended the Beaverton location and my niece's transferred to this location after the…read moreBeaverton location closed down. My sister, their mother, and I noticed that this location feels like all business and no regard to making connections with families like how the Beaverton location has. Whenever we get a chance to talk to the former Beaverton teachers, they always make us feel welcome as always. But not the Hillsboro team and sorry to say even the Hillsboro principal doesn't feel genuine. It feels like when parents talk to her, it goes in one ear and out another. I understand that you want business to thrive but you also have to make an effort to make people feel welcome. We really miss the Beaverton location and wish it will open again. The teachers feel like family, are always happy and have the time to address any concerns you have or small talk. You can tell that the Beaverton teachers truly care about your child and your family. The Hillsboro team does not make you feel that way. There are also some safety concerns. My niece told me that one of the teachers of the younger class forgot some children on the playground while going inside. My niece's class, the older kids, were still playing while the younger ones were going inside. The main door is on the older kid playground area. The teacher of the younger class went inside and left 2 students outside. Thank goodness there was another class outside because my niece's teacher noticed this and brought the children inside. I don't know if the other teacher was talked to about forgetting her students. Another safety concern is that recently they decided to open the emergency side door exit for the older classes to make going home time faster since there is always a long line. So that door is open and the teacher just lets the child out, but having to stay by the door because they're supposed to stay with the rest of the class. I understand that they want to make it convenient for families to make the pick up time faster, but the teacher isn't able to personally bring the student out to their families. What if the child gets hurt on the way? And what about the children in the classroom? If the teacher is in the doorway watching a child go to their family, who is watching the kids inside? I would truly give this school 0 stars but give it 2 stars since we still keep in touch with the Beaverton transferred teachers and they ALWAYS make us feel welcome.

The director was beyond kind as I explained I was a first time parent. She explained to me the ins-n-out of their infant classroom (6wks-1 yr) and even took the time to show me the toddler room (1-2yr), 2's, pre-school room (3yrs) and grade school rooms. I was very impressed how detailed everything was. I was also informed that there was a waiting list and she even encouraged me to tour other facilities to compare my experiences. After looking at 4 other day care centers near our home, I knew this one was it. What stood out mostly about this KinderCare was they never once asked me about money. They focused on our daughter's needs, our work schedule, and how they could accommodate. The kids that attended here seemed happier than other places I've visited. The class rooms are slightly bigger than other places I looked at (and it didn't feel like they were packed-in). Because my Daughter is just a few weeks shy of being 1, we were encouraged to visit again to see how she would do with toddlers in addition to getting to know the teachers and kids in her class. I felt confident and heard ever time I left their facility and the communication with the teachers and director have all been clear. It took some juggling but we are now attending there part-time. Today is her first day at KC. To my surprise, I received an email around noon with a picture ensuring she was fine and had a great time playing outside. I appreciated the director taking the time to ease my nerves into our first day. Upon our arrival, I noticed there were already assigned items to our daughter's name (clip board, cubicle, etc). I appreciated the organization and thoughtfulness of this facility. Hope to update soon with how things progress and if she likes being there!
