The Halifax Forum is host to many of Halifax's smaller events, consisting of an arena and multipurpose rooms. If you happen to be going there for a hockey game, be sure to dress very warm as this rink tends to get exceptionally cold. Typically, there will be a small canteen set up inside, where you can purchase a hot chocolate or other hot beverage. The rink is not overly large and has limited seating, but is a practical location for many University hockey games. The hockey games are very reasonably priced (approx. $7), and University students (with ID) receive free admission. Typically, it doesn't tend to get very crowded in the arena, so while the seats are plentiful, body heat is not, so remember to bring a blanket to sit on.

Stopped in to the Centennial Arena Skate Sharpening service on Sunday and was a bit surprised, but in a good way. I haven't stopped in a while, but we were heading for the Oval for a skate and my skates were RUSTTTYYYY and not sharpened at all. i called around and most places were either super busy or a bit expensive for the time it takes to sharpen a skate ($10... why??) So I thought, why not stop in here. Firstly, service was great. The guy behind the counter was friendly and talkative, but didn't get distracted from the sharpening. Always good to keep it casual while keeping timeliness in mind. Now for the actual sharpening. Well, the skate sharpening here was a pleasant surprise. Located conveniently at the front door, I didn't have to go searching at all to find them. A nice little heated spot, he was able to get the job done in under 5 minutes and send me on my way. No waiting, no posturing, no anything. In and out. It's hard for me to argue with that! They did a good job, they were sharpened quickly, and they were just what I needed. AND, the real question... HOW MUCH DID IT COST!? Did they gouge me? Nope. At a great price of $5/pair, you just can't get a better deal! You have to pay cash, but it's worth it, without a doubt. Highly recommended if you're tired of waiting in long lines or dropping your skates of hours before they'd be ready, or if you want to pay half the price!

Every time I pop up to swoon over the view, the lighting, and the layout, I sink deeper and deeper into a venue crush. Wheelchair accessible with safe and reliable elevators (worth pointing out considering some of the others in the city), the theatre space is on the upper level of Alderney, just above the farmer's market space. As you climb up, you get a gorgeous view of Halifax and the harbour through the all glass walls that only gets better once you reach your destination. Upstairs, the round as they call it is sizable and beautifully lit by the reflection off the harbour waters. All the glass makes the place feel even bigger than it is - kind of like an outdoor amphitheater...but, you know, inside. So, uh, a theatre. Nevermind. Bad comparison. While inside the theatre is comfortable for audiences and guests attending any number of community-driven performances throughout the year, I do find the stage strikes me as a bit small. I suspect that may be the only thing holding this space back from a booker's point of view. All the other pieces are in place to welcome bigger touring productions otherwise.

My school made the decision to call the mobile crisis line to get peace officers to come and do wellness checks on me daily sometimes multiple times a day for multiple days. The police and peace officers were extremly well trained to do their jobs. They invited me to church with them and ensured my well being was good. They came with 8 peace officers and involuntarily took me against my will to the emergency room and forcefully medicated me. They sat by my side, fed me snacks and talked to me for over 12 hours until I was admitted to the emergency room. I finally given psych treatment that I needed for over 3 years. The police and peace officers that Dal contacted actually advocated for me to get a TON of resources including assisted living, a work program for people with disabilities, psych nurses to come to my home weekly to check in on me and unlimited food. I am forever grateful for their decision to contact the peace officers to involuntarily admitted me into the psych unit because multiple professionals refused to get me treatment in the past for years and I got brain damage because of it. I thank God everyday for this school getting me the treatment and resources that I needed to survive and reach my full potential. Sadly I had to leave school due to my acute psychosis and brain damage but I will be forever grateful for them advocating for me to get the resources that I needed to survive and thrive.

The professionals at the school did not take the time to talk to me and get to know me and isntead they labeled me as bullying my professors, expelled me and banned me from the property for life. They took away all forms of communication from me to prevent me from getting justice and told me I needed to hire a lawyer to talk to them while I was living in severe poverty. They never made sure that I got treatment from a peace officer for my acute psychosis and paranoid delusions so I stayed in my severe acute psychosis for over 3 years. Due to the length of time I went with my psychosis untreated I now have been diagnosed with severe brain damage and memory problems. They should have spent more time talk to me and getting to know my situation to ensure that they could have gotten me treatment from a peace officer and giving me involuntary treatment for my acute psychosis but their only goal was to maintain their reputation and sales so they didn't bother getting me treatment from a peace officer when they desperately should have done so. They ruined my transcripts with a false suspension and expulsion due to labeling my acute psychosis as breaking a rule and bullying my professors when it wasn't that at all and it has prevented me from getting into new schools and prevented me from getting a career. I demand that they remove my suspension and expulsion from my transcripts to ensure I can go to a new school across the country and get a career to be as successful as I can be. There was never a rule broken and they overlooked my acute psychosis while being very uneducated about how to get a peace officer to involuntarily give me treatment to prevent this from happening again to de escalate the situation. I demand justice and peace for myself and others in this situation. I demand that they reach out to me because they are ignoring me until I pay for a lawyer while living in severe poverty. My statute of limitations for legal actions would be extended about 3 years due to being in a psychosis for 3 years. They have threatened me with lawsuits with their lawyer as well which are baseless. I have NO FEARS and NOTHING else to loose from this school. I DEMAND JUSTICE IT'S BEEN OVER THREE YEARS.

They even have the bingo hall separated into two sections: all-ages and 19+ so this really can be a fun night for anyone. Bizarrely, "basic bingo" (as I understood it) never seems to be played there. By "basic bingo," I mean one line, in any direction. No it starts complicated and just gets more and more so.
