Place is ok, lots of sports fanatics. I went here for 3 years, and it was... ok?
The staff and half the teachers here don't really care about the kids. A kid could throw up or get injured or even pass out and a lot of them I've witnessed are just horribly nonchalant about the whole thing. Many of them just don't show concern.
When I was here, the people that worked in the office were awful. Very rude desk people. Not to just students, but to parents and other people as well. Very unwelcoming and undetermined to help you.
The campus isn't always clean but considering other schools its kinda average. The k-building stairs though, those need a soap waterfall poured on them daily, those are gross.
The kids aren't always bright. There's actually been a couple fights that broke out during my time there, they got bloody. Probably fighting over something stupid like a girl or something. A lot of them drive recklessly down the hill after school or during lunch. The bathrooms need maintenance. The only good bathrooms in the entire school are in the girl's locker room and perhaps the teacher-only bathrooms on the top floor of the two story K-building, which when released to the public for students as well, was suddenly hot boxed three days later..... some kid had to go and smoke in there, making the whole place smell like weed and ruined everyone's privileges to access those cleaner bathrooms. Jerk. How do kids get that stuff? ugh.
My friends and I would hide behind the library during lunch to avoid the craziness in the main areas. It was peaceful and calming back there except for when we would smell weed or cigarette smoke every couple of months or so. When you're a student in highschool you know about some of the underlying things that go on there. Kids are experimenting with things they really shouldn't, and the teachers don't know about it, and we can't always pinpoint who does it. Its quite inconvenient with the K-building, my favorite building which always harbored the science and art classes and teachers, because whenever you'd go there for lunch, there'd be at least two to three couples making out on the stairway which was... probably the grossest and dirtiest location to be doing that in.
I knew quite a few teachers that were pretty cool, but I also knew some who were pretty bi-polar and hard to deal with. They'd hire this one substitute sometimes too who was some military guy who never followed through with the class schedule and tell gross jokes and waste our time, getting us in trouble the next day because we weren't given proper time to do our work.
Some of the teachers outright have insulted students and never apologized which I had to report to the counselors. Honestly, trying to stand up for your teachers and other students alike was exhausting.
A lot of the old school assemblies were kinda useless, they surprised me in my senior year though, they had more games and actually had a serious simulation that dealt with drunk driving to show students how dangerous and scary it could be. They actually held a staged funeral for the "dead" student that was "killed" in the "accident". Kudos to the director of the assemblies during all of this, I was very pleased.
Its hard to write reviews about schools like this, because no one ever stays here. Within the past four years or so of this school during my time there, we've had three to four principles, and about over 6+ teachers and staff retiring, leaving, or switching schools.
So management at this school is constantly changing, and its hard to really have a grounded rule system because of that.
There was also a school lockdown one time, where a supposedly armed guy with a stolen car had escaped into the back school road and into the trailer park behind it, police didn't notice kids were still walking up the hill. Principle freaked out and hid us in the office, kids texting their parents goodbye...everyone was in shock. They still held classes and even called students that drove home and told them to come back to school?! The nerve of these people... unbelievable, extremely unprofessional on both the school and the police. I tried to write about this in my journalism class but the staff censored it! They didn't accept it in the newspaper despite this potentially bringing up concerns and solutions so we don't have repeated problems like this in the future.
There's a lot of other problems or highlights with this school, but it'd take me a whole essay to write about them. Otherwise I'd say this is an average California Highschool.
Its not easily accessible road-wise. Really only one way in and one way out. Traffic down the hill might not get you home until an hour later despite it normally taking only 20 minutes. If a truck breaks down in the middle of the line, you're stuck there for the rest of the evening.
