Too humble to gloat for themselves, the yield from this Dennis land is some of the finest (and award-winningest) vegetation on the Cape. And in this bright green, columned shop near Chatham Lighthouse, is the spot to load up on all the crops the farm has to offer. Bibb lettuce to root vegetables, begonias to string beans - whatever's popping up from the well-tilled earth is being sold from these shelves. Oddly, there's also a toy corner, trinkets and baubles for touristy purchases (my shirt has a lighthouse on it!) and a side room serving as a local art gallery. Peculiar? A bit. Unique? Perhaps. Contributive towards the homey vibe? Definitely.* Just like the farm, the retail location is staffed by folks with special needs (mainly students from nearby Chatham High). Unlike the farm, this piece is air conditioned. Give it a peek - your soul (and your stomach) will thank you for it. ---- *After a bit of research, it seems the building in which the storefront resides was an old art gallery. The owners of said gallery have allowed Cape Abilities to operate rent-free for what's now the second continuous season. Warm fuzzies abound!

There are a handful of things that make me think of summer, and one of them is corn on the cob (but…read moreit has to be REALLY GOOD corn, none of that stuff that you need to drown in butter and salt just to eat). The corn from Log Cabin Farmstand is OUTRAGEOUS: sweet, smells nice and I don't need to drown it in anything because it would just take away from the wonderful corn taste. It's the start of September and I cannot wait for next summer's corn!

But the food I took to go, all presumably made in house, was lacking. One would figure being on the Cape, an establishment would be judged by its chowder. This was a decent soup but an unrecognizable chowder. Very fluid, not at all thick, and flavor tasted more like chicken stock and white wine. The scones were completely flavorless. Save the chunky bits of sugar on top. Cornbread was decent if not more like a cake. I wish the food matched the warm exchange I had with the staff. Lots of great parking and outside seating atleast.

That was my reaction after dinner at Cibo. I believe it has the potential to become one of the Cape's next great year-round dining destinations. The Crostini ai Gamberi was fantastic--I honestly could have eaten two more orders. The Caesar salad was fresh and perfectly prepared, and the Chicken Piccata was tender, flavorful, and delicious. I have known one of the owners, Nate Galvin, for some time. Nate is a Level 3 sommelier, and his knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for hospitality add a great deal to the experience. I also enjoyed meeting Chef Kolby, originally from Florida, whose talent was evident throughout the meal. Now that summer is nearing its end and the Cape has been returned to its residents, this is exactly the kind of new restaurant we should discover and support. Great food, excellent wine, a welcoming atmosphere, and people who genuinely care about what they are creating. Cibo is off to a terrific start. We will definitely be back! Ron

Unfortunately I was quite disappointed when I went today for a panini to go. The paninis used to be amazing and a true treat. Today's Italian panini had exactly one thin slice of ham, one thin slice of salami and once thin slice of mortadella on it. For a $17 sandwich, I would have expected way more meat and the bread/meat made me barely taste any protein. Hopefully the new team can adjust and do better in the future.

But Fancy's has failed to pick up the slack. Their deli staff has little knowledge of the sandwich options. They no longer carry chicken salad or an option for green salads. The ice coffee sizes are absurd. The small is a large and a large is a 7 eleven big gulp. The produce selection was disappointing. For our one quick stop sandwich and snack option on the way to Nauset this establishment is failing on what could be a lucrative business. Sandwich was decent, service and selection -terrible.
