I contacted Hal Hammond of Hal Hammond after seeing all the positive reviews on yelp. I am working on a family cookbook/album and had several photos that I wanted to include in the book that were not in digital format. These photos did not have to be art quality, but they did have to be put in the right format and time was of essence. Also, I was leery about sending my photos to one of those behemoth-like scanning services that outsource the work to labs in foreign countries. I contacted Hal Hammond and he worked with me and my schedule. In the end, I had him scan about 40+ old photos ranging from the 1920s up to the digital age to put in my cookbook/album project. With some of the more damaged photos, he tinkered with them to bring them back to life. And he did all of this on time and on budget. I would not hestitate use Hal again. I was looking around Sacramento for a place to print a poster sized digital collage of my son's golf season. I built the image in photoshop and the file was over 100mbs. I tried 4 local shops and the national chains with no decent results. I found Hal Hammond online and emailed him. He responded immediately and after calling him, I then knew exactly what to do. Hal ended up printing, sizing, color correcting, and then framing my image and it is proudly hanging in our home. I happened to find Hal Hammond Graphics through the Internet. I'm from NY so I don't have a lot of contacts in California to ask regarding printing digital art. I wasted my time, ignorantly, at a kinko's/fedex and staples where I walked out with blurry prints and much frustration even after a young lady at fedex adjusted my image to print "properly". Anyhow, I walked up to the store to find that Hal was in the midst of moving as many items were being packed and arranged (he will be operating out of his home soon) but it didn't stop him from taking care of my project. He was friendly, warm, intelligent, and knew exactly what he was doing. He advised me on certain aspects on printing and creating my work to translate fully into print properly and was adept at adjustments. He had a true printer's eye, which I thoroughly appreciated, and made my experience at Hal Hammond a joy and a relief. I found Hal via a Facebook page called "Things I remember growing up in Sacramento" . We were sharing memories of East Sac, Alhambra District, etc. In our conversation, he mentioned that he had a graphics business in my neighborhood. I had been planning on getting a pic of my dad on top of Half Dome enlarged so that I could mount it with a picture of me that was taken there this past September. The pic was small (2" x 2"), blurry, grainy, and scratched (it was taken around 1938!). He scanned it and I was able to see so clearly my dad with his arms outstretched. I always knew that the pic was of my dad but it was so small and unfocused that it was hard to recognize him. It was like finding a hidden treasure.
