I called to ask if they accepted walk-ins and was told they were busy and not taking them, which is completely understandable. I then asked if I could schedule an appointment, but the person who answered hung up right after I asked. I called back to try again, and the individual on the phone was still very rude. They said they had a 6:00 PM slot available. I confirmed that 6:00 worked for me, but they repeated multiple times that they close at 7 and that 6:00 was the only time available. Each time I confirmed that 6:00 was fine. At this point I started to get agitated that I had to repeat myself 3 times just to confirm the time. They then asked for a phone number to confirm the appointment. I said that if they could see the number I was calling from, that number was fine to use. After a moment of silence, instead of responding normally, the person suddenly yelled "HELLOOOO?" into the phone. I explained that I thought they might already have my number, but I could provide it if needed. At that point, the interaction had been so uncomfortable and unprofessional that I decided I didn't feel comfortable getting my haircut there and declined the appointment.

Showed up for my appointment and the salon was dead empty (1st red flag) with their discount on papers plastered everywhere (2nd red flag). Had to wait 10 minutes as they got my hairstylist who was doing who knows what in her car....(3rd red flag). I asked for a simple "modern mullet" hairstyle similar to what I nornally had with just the sides shaved and top and back trimmed. My hairstylist then proceeds to shave my sides almost all the way to the top, so I resemble "Cillian Murphy" from Peaky Blinders. I get it caters to a female clientale more, but really....? Turns out the 20% discount ended up not even mattering. The total cost was $40, but yet I had to pay $36...(20% of 40 is $32). Still, I chalked it up to just a bad haircut at a shady place and I could move on. Yet, turns out AGAIN, my debit card info was stolen from here, resulting in multiple DoorDash orders totaling over $500. So I beg anyone, avoid going to this place or you definitely will be paying for more than just a terrible haircut.

Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. What should have been a simple takedown, wash, and closure install turned into an all-day ordeal that completely derailed my Saturday. Looking back, I wish I had read the lower-rated reviews before booking. It's clear that closure installs are not this salon's strength, If I was to view the lowest reviews they mention the same issue. During my entire eight-hour visit, I wasn't offered water or food, and by the time the bundles were being sewn in, the work felt rushed and lacking care. The closure was barely customized, just washed and trimmed. There was no color or makeup applied to help it blend naturally. I asked for a small leave-out to cover the lace and weft, yet the result was one of the worst installs I've ever received. When the final reveal came, I could literally see the lace lifting. It felt like a slap in the face after such a long day. They offered 50% off, but it still feels like a waste of time and money, especially since I now have to find another stylist to fix it. This experience left me extremely disappointed and questioning the consistency of their service. I genuinely don't understand how this can be the same salon the Washington Commanders chose to represent their brand. After posting my review on Google, the salon responded with an apology and blamed a scheduling mix-up which is an explanation that doesn't address the quality issues or lack of professionalism. At this point, a full refund would have been more appropriate, as I clearly stated I wouldn't be returning.
