I had long hair and asked someone to cut it short, and I ended up with an embarrassing enormous afro, and I'm a caucasian. I should add, that she's an expert, cutting curly hair. Halaina welcomes you to her lovely salon, tucked across the street from Socastee High School. With a lovely Mediterranian entry, you open the doors to a welcoming kitchen area, where you help yourself to complimentary coffee during the day and wine in the evenings. Halaina will explain to you what will be best for your hair as far as cut and coloring. She takes her time with you to ensure you will walk out feeling gorgeous and that you got what you paid for. Halaina does run specials, so do watch out for them, however her prices are fair without them. Since the day I met her, I had an immediate connection, as she sculptures my hair while I enjoy the experience. My husband was weary after the huge afro I had, but he's delighted with my short cut. I'm thrilled to have such an expert stylist in the Socastee area. Halaina can cut curly hair, as best as they come. If you're driving down 707, turn on to Cimmaron Drive (across from the H.S.) and the salon is the first building on the left. You won't regret it.

Edit: I am grateful to have spoken to Renee, the owner, on the phone. I was able to clarify a few…read moreinaccuracies in their response to my review. To note, the stylist did not explain to me that she didn't feel confident in her ability to blow my hair out. She made ONE comment that a piece of hair wasn't curling, and I said she can use the iron on that section if needed. I was also able to clarify that the stylist did NOT ask someone else to step in until AFTER my hair was "done". If this was communicated to me at ANY point during my appointment, I would have gladly had someone else who felt confident in their ability to blow my hair out step in. Lastly, I was able to clarify that no, it was never mentioned that my deposit would be refunded. No mention of that was made while I was there. I am glad I was able to clarify these points, and I will take Renee up on having someone else blow out my hair another time. Looking forward to a better experience next time! ----------- Original review: The only service I can speak to is the blowout- the other services may be great, but words can't even describe how unacceptably horrible this blowout is. This blowout took 2 HOURS, and my hair is a curled mess and not at all a voluminous blowout. Not only did specifically say I wanted a 90s style blowout with lots of root volume, I even shared 2 photos and mentioned that when I do my blowouts at home I put the sections in rollers after drying to achieve the desired look. All of that was completely ignored. I mentioned that I was ok with using the curling iron if needed, but again, my goal was a blowout look. Instead I got a head full of ratty curls. The owner did offer to have someone re blow it out. I appreciated that, and I would have gladly taken them up on this offer if I hadn't already been there for 2 hours. I left incredibly disappointed at the subpar quality. I hope they enjoyed my $25 deposit. Please save your time and blow dry your hair at home or go literally ANYWHERE else.

I would not recommend this place and I will never return which I think was her intentions. This…read moreplace has biblical verses posted on the walls as if it demonstrates their integrity but it's a front. Renee did not care about the look I was going for, even after a consultation appointment and showing the picture I brought multiple times. She showed up late, took calls in between putting foils in my hair, did the exact opposite of what I asked as far as where I wanted the color, spoke poorly and gossiping about the other stylist to both employees and other clients right before that young girl's shift, slapped my wet hair in my face multiple times, she kept bumping me while I was in her chair, she did the worst tinting I have ever seen like two giant caterpillars on my face and then, told me she couldn't finish the services to cut my hair and blow it dry because she was too tired. Mind you, I booked this appointment weeks in advance after waiting weeks for a consultation. She also charged me to correct her hard lines and for bringing the color too high when I went back for the corrections. This woman wants to retire and it shows. I moved to a new town going for a new look to feel better about myself and instead I've spent months feeling embarrassed because of her spiteful and deceitful actions. I had outgrown my hair to have healthy, thick and lush hair which is now fried and destroyed after being at this salon. She also told me she doesn't like people from out of town and despises growth in her city, so I think she did this to me on purpose.
