I would love to give 3 1/2 stars if I could. I visited this salon because I bought its Groupon for $17 for a mani/pedi. I had not heard of it, and I generally bounce around for my nail care based on whatever is convenient. When I first tried to schedule the appointment, I had to wait a week or so, because they have one manicurist with one chair/station, but when I called this time, it sounded like she was not as busy and I had a lot more flexibility in my choice. The salon itself is small and colorful, not particularly relaxing, but pretty and clean.
The mani/pedi room is a small area off the large main room of the salon, which is nice, as you're separated from the louder area where hair is done. The pedi chair is comfortable (but not massage), and Nikki, the nail technician, gave my feet and calves a great salt scrub as part of the treatment. She had a nice array of polish colors and helped me choose a pretty lilac for my toes. She was pleasantly chatty, and easy to talk to while she worked on my feet, and the pedicure was very pleasant. The manicure experience was similar, with a brief, lotion hand massage and she worked carefully on my nails. I chose a clear polish, and the nail shapes look nice. I asked if they offered the OPI shellac manicure, and she said they had chosen not to because they had seen nails that had had them done, and they were unhealthy and damaged.
I wish this salon did not offer feather extensions, which result in the slaughtering of the roosters from which the feathers are gathered (and their bodies are then thrown out as compost).
When I was leaving, I saw the salon was offering Groupon customers 1/2 off their next service if they booked that day (but not for mani/pedi). I asked about a service they didn't advertise, but the owners said they would do it and asked if I thought the price she proposed was fair, which I did. I liked their friendly authenticity. I will try them again. Their prices, without the Groupon, are very reasonable, and I was happy overall with my mani/pedi experience. read more
