When you walk in to the newly renovated salon you will be greeted by the very friendly Zak & Tony. The hairstyling duo are the only stylists at the salon and provide incomparable hair services. The salon is impeccably clean, and offers some of the best product lines in the industry. Recently adding an esthetic services to their salon, Zak & Tony's has your beauty covered. You should be warned that this is not you average salon, it conducts itself much like a barber shop with open conversation and community gossip amongst all who sit in its chairs. It is a great experience! Also, before you run to Google searching for the number to make your next appointment be sure you schedule a good 3hr. chunk of your day. I'm not saying it takes this long to make you beautiful, but due to the size of the salon and the fact that there are only two stylists here, they are frequently behind schedule. I would suggest to the business just to add a price breakdown on the website with the costs for cuts at each length with each level of hair stylist just to allow for customers to be more well informed before coming in and so that nothing is a surprise! Laura was patient and helpful with helping me to decide on a look that was close to what I pictured, but also achievable in one shot (I tend to want really big changes that take many, many procedures, and Laura always manages to help me get as close as possible in one go so that I don't leave disappointed). The rest is pretty standard- I have dark hair and had booked in for highlights and color, so my visit was fairly lengthy. While I was there staff was polite and friendly, and it was very clear they have positive relationships with their clients. One of my friends came to meet me and was so impressed she herself is looking forward to her own visit in the near future. If you're looking for a good spot for a cut or colour, hit this place up. After two months since my haircut I'm still in awe at how I can just wake up and put minimal effort into making my hair look good. I don't even know what Margo did that was different than the others but it's been freeing. I've had many hairstylists over the years across Canada and also in the UK. I get anxious when booking with a new stylist but Margo immediately put me at ease. She exudes confidence without arrogance. She listened to my preferences and adjusted along the way. This is the biggest Chatters in Ottawa, and I believe it was the first one to open. They have a lot of hair products and they have frequent sales where I have literally bought salon shampoo, conditioner and styling products for less than drug store brands. They also have a good selection of false eyelashes, including the new magnetic eyeliner to use with magnetic lashes. And it's the legit Ardell brand, not some sketchy brand where the ingredients aren't even listed on the packaging (yeah, I'm looking at you, Showcase). They also carry the Ardell magnetic eyeliner alone, and not just the kit with the lashes, in case you already have the lashes and just want the eyeliner (most stores like Rexall or Sally Beauty Supply sell only the kit). They carry nail products as well. Staff are super nice and always willing to help you find stuff. This location is in The Ottawa Trainyards. It's in the section where Starbucks, Cleo and Ricki's is.
