They offer you coffee or tea from a local business in Libertyville which I thought was awesome and there's also cucumber-lemon water too. Patty came out to get me around 6:15-6:20 and patiently listened to my thoughts on what I wanted to do with my hair. She was super friendly and really helpful with offering advice every time I told her about my hair problems. Too dry, too frizzy, too damaged, everything! Believe me when I say my hair has been through a lot over the last decade and more. Patty washed my hair with an amazing minty shampoo and also a very light, non-creamy conditioner which I specifically asked for (yes!). Then she also showed me a leave-in conditioner and thermal protection spray that she thought would be best for my hair. What I most appreciated was that at no point did she ever try to sell me any of their products. She simply talked to me as if she was recommending something for a friend. The haircut turned out to be pretty good. My bangs were cut a little too short than what I would've liked though but luckily it grows out fast so it's not that big of a deal. She took off about 6+ inches of hair in the back so it ended up at the length that I wanted. Other random points: The Hair Fetish uses a lot of Paul Mitchell and Davines products. It's also a huge bonus that they do a free trim of your bangs if you come in the next 3 weeks after your haircut!

Rodney became my hairstylist when I was around the age of 17. I'll never forget my friend dragging…read moreme in to meet him. He felt that Rodney was so laid back and cool. In less than five minutes of conversation, it's easy to understand why. Rodney is comfortable speaking to just about anyone. I have watched him with his clients over the years. What impresses me is that it seems he styles males as much as females. Of every age. I don't see many male stylists who are able to do that. This goes for the Chicago salons I have visited over the years. Rodney may or may not agree, but he has always reminded me of James Dean. When I walked into the salon at 17, he had a tight-white t-shirt on, and jeans. Just like the icon himself. Rodney seems to like music and culture from that era as well. In contrast, Rodney has longer blond hair which echos more of the '80s. I've always found that amusing. Rodney is the best. Just sit down in his chair and let him tell you all about the El Camino he's restoring. I can't wait until he finishes this car. The look of satisfaction on his face will be epic! If you ask, he'll show you photos on his cell phone. Rodney is an unsung hero of hair. Twenty-seven years later, I found Rodney in the same salon where I left off back in the early 2000's. I had just moved back from California, and reconnecting with Rodney was just what the doctor ordered. He knows pretty much everything about me, and I had a California story for him which captured almost everyone's concerns in the salon. It was my first haircut and color since I got home, and it felt Cathartic. Also, I have never felt so supported by people I didn't know. Just when I was thinking humans were poisonous, everyone here in this moment reminded me that some people are still good. You could tell by the looks on their faces. Even if they were just curious. lol That's okay. I get that way too. I now live in Chicago, and drive completely out of my way to get my hair done. My old stomping grounds. It takes a good chunk out of my day, but it's totally worth it. Chicago salons have never treated me well. I might find a decent stylist, but my hair ends up dried out, and it breaks off, leaving my hair looking frizzy. All from the color that they use. When Rodney colors my hair, it feels the same as it did when I started my day. There's probably a simple answer, but what it translates to is a world of difference! The Optometrist I work with has learned a little bit about Rodney after each of my visits. She notices the color right away and knows I went to see him. It's to the point where curiosity has gotten the better of her because of how I describe him as a person. She already knows he has talent from looking at my hair. However, it's because of the nice things I've had to share about the kind of person he is, which made her say, "I have to go meet Rodney." I really hope she does.

Finding the perfect hair stylist is like finding the perfect mate, a long trial and error process…read moreuntil one day you meet that match and Eureka!!! - finally a comfortable feeling! That's how it was when I first met Anna of Anna's Hair Studio. After bouncing around from hair salon to hair salon and never being happy with the results, I found Anna (through a friend who recommended the salon). Ok, I said to myself, another trial and error endeavor with hopes that the stylist would understand my request of what I wanted in a haircut and that I'd walk out of there without damage that would take three months to grow out. Well, let me tell you folks...after the very first visit, I had without hesitation, found my new hair salon home! Not only am I super happy with my haircuts, but I'm happy with the feel of the studio. Anna is super sweet, an expect stylist and a great listener and communicator. I think the most important thing (beyond a precision cut) is the ability of the stylist to really listen to what the client is saying and be able to understand and comply to those wishes. On the other hand, the stylist should also be honest and tell the client that what they're looking for may not look the best with their hair texture, face shape, age, etc. Anna does both. I've only had haircuts and foil highlighting done so far, but this is a full service salon which offers everything you'd expect from a high end salon including waxing, facials and nails. The aesthetician is supposed to be fantastic and a facial will be my next teat to myself. I've only had my hair done by Anna, but my sister and friend have their cuts and hair color/foils done by Lauren and Ivanka and they are super happy with both stylists.
