The positive reviews don't lie! This is long but much deserved…read more Coretha was very attentive all the way from the consult and past my appointment. I've had a rough road on my braiding journey with my braids not being able to last more than 2 weeks at most due to scalp irritation with multiple stylist in the past. Coretha took her time during my consult to explain the possible causes and identifying her approach to get me back on track with getting the positive experience I desired. She provided a discount code for the banana fiber hair I wanted to try and had no issues with using this braiding hair. It was truly educational. During my appointment I was able to experience her wealth of knowledge, admiration for her work, and the caring nature she has for her clients. Not to mention the space was top notch! After my appointment, she walked me to my car to make sure that I made there safely. She also checked in with me via text to see how things were going with my scalp. I am so happy to say that I am now 3 weeks out from my appointment with a positive experience and did not need to take my braids out nor have I experienced my scalp burning, bleeding, or itching like my previous experiences. I'm beyond grateful to have crossed paths with her. My days are easier and less stressful because of her. She has a gift that is hers alone. Sure people can braid but Coretha gives you an experience and she takes pride in every step of your journey with her. I can't wait until my next appointment!

I could not ask for a better experience for my very tender headed 7 year old daughter. Coretha is…read moreso good with kids and is so gentle. I appreciated that she ensured my daughter was going to be happy with her hairstyle before she started by explained exactly what her style would look like and she also found the PERFECT pop of color that my daughter loves. We are new to braiding so her thorough communication was reassuring. She checked the health of her hair, looked for breakage, and discussed best timing for her next trim. She also has so many snacks and drink options and allows kids to take as many breaks as needed. We never felt rushed and I really think kids pick up on that energy. My daughter loved her and Ms. Candace as well. We did Knotless braids and they are perfectly even, uniform, and have a beautiful wave to them. As a parent I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Coretha throughout the appointment. She does so much for the community and I can't wait to take one of her braiding workshops. Her salon is so cute and parking was easy. Overall such a great experience!

I…read morehave been relaxed for a little over a year since my big chop and needed to switch stylists, which can be tricky when you're on a regular relaxing routine. First of all, all my life that I've received relaxers, I've always been burned and almost thought it's the price you pay for being relaxed. I was nervous coming in because I had been scratching my scalp this week and I have super thick hair so the application process can be a bit daunting. Listen, by the time I was even beginning to get agitated in the slightest, Tia was already done with my entire application and ready to wash my hair. My hair and scalp feel so good! She's very attentive and hospitable and the environment here is very comfortable, uplifting, and safe. No gossip, no loud music, just the perfect place to self - care. Also, she has snacks galore and I love me some snacks! Thank you, Tia!

I had never had crochet braids before, she took me to look at different hair, and ultimately I ordered hair on amazon. It was late, she was flexible, she even offered to come in on her personal day to accommodate me, knowing I wanted to get my hair done quickly. Once my hair arrived, she knew I wanted it to look like single braids but not have them be single braids. My hair was a bit longer but again she was able to be flexible and work with my hair. The hair I ordered from Amazon was difficult to install, but she really gave me 100% I was soooooo appreciative of her! Thank you Ms. Regenia! You now have a new regular!

I spent over two years trying to find a stylist who would actually hear me when I said my locs were…read moredamaged at the root. I went through four different stylists who insisted they could "fix" them, but none of them listened to what I knew about my own hair. Ms. Regenia was the first person who sat me down, examined my hair with care, and prioritized healthy hair over everything else. She didn't pressure me or dismiss me, she supported the decision I had been trying to make for so long. She actually cut my locs for me, something I had been asking for repeatedly, and she did it with so much gentleness and respect. Afterward, she styled my natural hair beautifully and brought my curls back to life. Her spirit is genuine, her professionalism is unmatched, and her chair feels like a place of honesty, peace, and restoration. I'm truly grateful I found her.

Once I arrived, the stylist started single knotless braids, which is not what I asked for or agreed to. I was told either to take it down or leave with it. Since I had already taken my hair down for a different occasion and needed my hair done, I felt pressured to leave with a style I did not want. Warning: Scam Alert!…read more I was the victim of a Zelle scam perpetrated by Mame Sow, the operator of Mame African Hair Braiding. To reserve an appointment, Mame requires a deposit, which I have provided once in the past. Recently, Mame requested a $50 Zelle deposit to schedule an appointment, which I sent in good faith. The person Mame had me forward the deposit to is Fanny Noumedon. Mame had promised to send a confirmation of the appointment once she received an SMS from me containing a screenshot of the Zelle transaction. After sending the screenshot in an SMS - I never received the promised appointment confirmation. My credit union and I have both reached out to Mame and Fanny to resolve this issue, but their responses have been disrespectful and unprofessional. They claim they cannot locate my information in the Zelle system, which is their excuse for not returning the funds. I've contacted the Tacoma Police Department about the scam that Mame Sow and Fanny Noumedon are running within the city limits. The police advised me to never send a deposit for hair braiding services, as they cannot intervene in civil disputes. Learn from my experience - do not send these hair braiders any deposits, as you will not receive the service or get your money back from Zelle. **Update Upon seeing my online review, Fanny Noumedon's husband Kokou contacted me and pleaded for me to remove it, offering to repay the money owed if I did so. I refused his bribery attempt, and instead threatened legal action against both him and Fanny. Ultimately, they returned the funds, but my critical review remains published. I advise against providing any deposits to these hair braiders, and I advise against doing business with them.
