The color…read moreservice alone took 3 hours because the highlights initially came out yellow and required correction. Even after the correction, the color was red, not ashy brown. Since my hair was still damp, I hadn't yet seen the full extent of the damage. After washing and drying it, I found singed and broken hair sticking up at the top of my head. I had already paid a $137.50 deposit and was charged another $202 at checkout. The initial deposit was applied, and the charges included the weft installation that was never completed. When I spoke with the owner, Alexis, she agreed that the charges did not appear correct and promised to refund my credit card. I also sent her a photograph of the damage, which she acknowledged seeing, and she agreed to refund the entire service. A few days later, Heather, the "salon coordinator," called and revoked the owner's promised refund, offering only $75 for the extensions that were never done in the first place. Heather said the situation was not the salon's fault because I "voluntarily" stopped the service. She ignored why I left: the color had already taken 3 hours, required correction, remained incorrect, and left me facing at least another hour in the salon. To boot, she justified the time it took by saying, "Clients will sit here 7, 8, sometimes 9 hours." I still tipped the stylist 20% because she was kind and had put in effort. My politeness was later used against me as "evidence" that I had been satisfied with the service. Heather claimed that footage of me smiling at checkout proved it. I smiled because I was being polite and did not want to embarrass the stylist. My hair was still partially damp, so I had not yet seen the breakage. For comparison, another salon later corrected the color, installed 60 extensions, fully blow-dried my hair, and finished everything in less than 2.5 hours. The stylist was pleasant and made an effort. My issue is with the incorrect color, damaged hair, unclear charges, incomplete service, straw-grasping reasons to revoke my refund, and Heather's absolutely smug and controlling attitude.

The eyelashes were overly large, and the colors should have complemented my skin tone instead of making me look completely different. I was very disappointed. I couldn't find 1 gray in any of the areas I checked. My curls were pretty and had a soft bounce to them. Unfortunately it was raining by the time I left. I should have asked her to take some pix at her station when she finished. Luckily I took some quick pix in the car because by the time I got home my naturally curly hair had begun to poof a little. It didn't look bad, just a little fluffy. No fault of Melissa's. As any natural hair girl knows, when we blow out our curls, humidity is not our friend. Which is why I only blow mine out every 4 - 6 wks or so just to check the health of my ends. Perhaps if we had used a lot of hair hair spray or gel I would have retained more of the structure of the curl but I try not to use those much as my hair leans on the dry side. Regular Blowout appointment - 11/4 Another great result. Melissa was just as friendly as the first appointment. I had slept with pre-poo in my hair the night before the appointment. Melissa said that made brushing it out easier so for any natural hair girl reading this, try doing the same. Especially if you have a tender scalp. Less tangles, less pain in the brush out. Next Day - 11/5 Put hair in loose, low to the nape ponytail. Slept on satin pillow. Woke up with beachy waves that were very much presentable.

She was right on time (I needed more time to drink my wine!) I have very thin hair that I actively work to keep from falling out. Tara gave me a great cut that looks good on me and works for my hair type. I can't say how hard it can be to find someone who understands thin hair but Tara did. I get the impression that she likes to keep up on all sorts of continuing education and likely has a good hand on lots of hairs. For you curly haired girls, she has naturally curly hair so she probably understands curly hair too! So, after my great cut she didn't have a product I was looking to purchase. So, she immediately said she would order it and still honor the new client 20% off. She did NOT recommend a ton of expensive products that don't work on thin hair as soon many stylists do. They do NOT accept tips on your credit card so be sure to bring cash. GREAT experience. This is my new place, for sure!
