Caring House stood in a completely different category as compared to the other options available, because: 1) Caring House is 100% focused on end-of-life care, including hospice. So, the staff are all experts at dealing with (and relieving you from) all the stuff you're so worried about (physical care, nursing/caretaker coordination, nutrition), so that you have time to relax and spend this valuable time with your loved one. 2) We truly felt like family from the moment we walked into the Caring House. It was our final interview of the day, and my dad for the first time relaxed as he discussed scenarios with the staff. Sandra immediately set us at ease as she walked us through how things work and was incredibly patient with us as we asked SO many questions. The testimonial videos on their site are fiercely genuine and reflect exactly how we felt when we were there--they truly welcomed our entire family into their home. 3) The vast community of people at Caring House that contribute to your loved one's experience is almost overwhelming, in the most quiet and calming way possible. Beyond the pros and highly trained staff running the place, there is a constant flow of volunteers (community members, nurses, spiritual leaders) that come to hang out, help out, make cookies, do chores, talk to visitors, coordinate event--it's amazing. 4) In the year since my mom passed away, the Caring House hasn't forgotten us. They continue to reach out as we move through the grieving process, and we so value their love and support. They have a true calling, and we have benefited greatly from their commitment. I wish and hope that every family facing a situation like ours have the opportunity to spend those last precious days and weeks at the Caring House. It was the best choice we made during a difficult time.

Non-profit status makes this an exceptional hospice. Please donate to this truly beautiful home filled with Angel volunteers and Staff that mattered when we needed them most. Immaculate home and gardens were just extraordinary comforting.

Short story, my dad got a acute bone cancer and ended up in the ER and hospital a number of times in the last 3 months of 2019. He ended up dying in peace and tranquility with me on New Years Day at 5am - he told me he wanted to make it to 2020! :-) During the course of my dads time there especially toward the end in hospice care, a number of "little angels" would come in and check on him (and me) every few hours making sure everything was okay and that we were comfortable. They where amazing angelic "women" especially when I chatted with them about "why they work in this area where people are dying?" Their personal stories are heart wrenching and loving as to why they do what they do!! I want to say thank you to them with all my heart! Thank you Kassandra, Laura, and Sherry and all the others who made his last days/hours so much so peaceful. Thank you ER staff for your quick responses and spot on treatment under tough, endless situations. Thank you Angela (miss your smile/laugh) and Mel in the Infusion Center for making a tough situation a little lighter. Thank you all for what you do! Hugs Mark!!

Thank you to Alexandra who was on call on Sunday, my dad's last day of life. You helped me get him so comfortable that I tucked him in and he closed his eyes and opened them in Heaven. Thank you too all of you for your loving kindness during the most difficult moments a person can endure. God bless you all.

As a mid-50's aged man, I am fortunate to have shared a lifelong bond of positivity with my mom…read more She took care of me when I was young and I took care of her in her later years. Between those two bookends of life, we enjoyed and endured much. About four weeks ago, when I learned she was to be discharged from skilled nursing/rehab after trying unsuccessfully to regain the ability to walk after a successful hip revision surgery, I was at a crossroads on what to do given my mom's advancing dementia and notable weight loss. A very caring nurse practitioner making her rounds at the skilled nursing told me about the wonderful care her father in-law received from 1 Heart Hospice. From the very beginning, Cynlie and her 1 Heart Hospice Team (Nadine, Romalyn, Retchie, and several others) were on top of every detail and not only helped me find the perfect (very clean, cheerful, and operated by a teams of very caring people) board and care residence for my mom but also had a new bed, wheelchair, and other important equipment at the residence before my mom arrived. My mom passed away with my wife and me by her side on Father's Day 2024. Between the time my mom moved in till the time she passed (ie, 16 days), I must have communicated with Cynlie and her colleagues 40 or more times. Sometimes it was about my mom's medicine, and other times it was about my need for emotional support or help decision-making. Nonetheless, 1 Heart Hospice was there every single step of the way. In the last 24 hours of my mom's wife, they assigned 24 hour nursing coverage to make sure my mom was comfortable as she transitioned. They did an excellent job and so much respect to my mom and the family. I cannot express adequately my gratitude for 1 Heart Hospice. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend 1 Heart Hospice to anyone in need of hospice care.

This was my first time utilizing hospice care for a loved one. I admittedly had false expectations…read moredriven by common sense as it relates to a very sensitive and delicate situation. The care quality was underwhelming to say the least. Agape poorly educated my family on what to expect during a most gut wrenching time. They set numerous expectations that were not met. Including and not limited to communication, follow up visits, warning signs and resolutions. The stand out interaction was when I sat with a nurse (who was new to the company) to field the many questions & concerns that I had. Through my inquiries, it seemed the Agape finally decided to act. I have zero experience in the medical field but through daily 20 hr shifts with my loved one I gained an immense amount of hands on experience. The Agape representative told me to my face that THEY DO NOT EXPECT US TO BE NURSES, just to be there to show love and care to my loved one. This was insulting and patronizing! Agape equipped us with a variety of medicines, dressings, equipment (including oxygen, a nebulizer, and suction device) though with no real direction on when & what to look for to use this mobile triage station. Mind you, I was not expected to be a nurse. The hypocrisy was palpable. I need to mention that we were never cautioned about bed sores. No mention of what they are, how they develop, what to look for and also, what to do about them. This was frustrating and infuriating. My belief is that people who are designated as 'end of life' should be treated, handled and loved the exact same way as when they enter this world. With such delicate care, close professional monitoring and a soft touch. Babies are not delivered in a hospital and set aside with instructions to the family to occasionally have a look to tell them that you love them. Agape missed the mark repeatedly and I can honestly say that I now have extensive experience with Hospice care, or lack there of. I will continue to share my story and educate those around me. Most of us will experience Hospice for a loved one and maybe ourselves. I will ensure to record detailed instructions in my own Advanced Health Care Directive along with additional personal wishes in my Will. This is to make it easier on my surviving loved ones who may be tasked with my care. This is responsible thing to do, for all parties. This is absolutely necessary because of companies like Agape Hospice and their lack of compassion, professionalism, accountability, execution and customer service. DO YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT HOSPICE. VET THE COMPANY. SEEK OUT REVIEWS. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON YOUR LOVED ONES SPECIFIC DISEASE OR CONDITION AND HOW TO CARE FOR AND INTERACT WITH THEM. YOU CANNOT COUNT & RELY ON AGAPE OR POTENTIALLY OTHER COMPANIES TO ADEQUATELY PREPARE YOU. ONCE YOU'RE IN IT, IT MAY BE TOO LATE. YOU WILL FEEL LOST AND HELPLESS, SO BE PROACTIVE.

They are not only skilled professionals but also wonderfully compassionate and caring people. I have nothing but praise for how they cared for Cheryl and for how they cared for me. They did everything in their power to make her comfortable and to ease her passing. But no one truly loved, as I loved Cheryl, dies alone; they take a part of those who loved them with them. Ria and Pia saved a lot of their caring and compassion for our family members and for me. They kept us gently apprised of how Cheryl was slipping away, almost as if she knew it was finally time to let go. Ria and Pia have very difficult jobs, and each assignment ends the same way. They showed respect and a sense of perspective that were vital in helping us to accept the situation and deal with it. As difficult and as sad as the death process was, it could have been immensely worse without their involvement. They are ideal representatives and public faces for your organization. They breathe life into your mission statement. Most appreciatively, Gary Hartzell.
