I went there for a Christmas dinner with my family last year and it was good, but nobody was really impressed with their meal. It's pretty expensive also (they had a multiple course option for Christmas time dinner), so for the price we expected to have some very good food. Would definitely return for the daytime ambiance and drinks, but probably not for the food.

In warm weather you can also sit outside on the terrace. Since I didn't eat, I won't comment on the food, but looks like a great place to spend some time (but judging from the menu a bit pricey). The waiter was friendly, and arranged some extra chairs in the fireplace room for our large, unannounced group.

My experience at Royals & Rice was mixed. I've lived in Vietnam, so I can confidently say that this…read moreis no authentic Vietnamese food fare. It's pan-Asian food newly interpreted and slightly altered to suit European taste buds. This is no bad thing in itself and can work out quite well as with the sweet potato and chicken satay dish of my friend which was nicely flavoured, with a hint o spicyness and decently peanuty. My chicken and mango salad which I ordered extra hot was also fresh and flavour full, packing a good punch of chilli, as I had requested. The entrees on the other hand were of mixed quality: the tofu avocado summer roll only contained a minuscule piece of avocado while also containing curry (? It was yellow) flavoured rice instead of the traditional rice noodles. This didn't work for me at all. The dumplings with mixed meat on the other hand were flavourful and the sauce of fish sauce, soy sauce and sugar tasted great. Sadly I have to subtract another star for ambience and service. There is a quick turn over and the place was packed. We were seated right at the door with the window open which wouldn't close as we were informed by the staff, so we were quite chilly through out dinner. The service was also a bit unorganised and clumsy. My wine was dropped into someone else's order right before my eyes and I only received it upon asking for it again. Not sure how other places in Munster are as I was only visiting. Would go again, but would probably not be my first choice.

The friendly servers make quite an impression actually. And the food they bring is spot on. Great burgers!

I knew I loved Hans Im Glück in Cologne but I wanted to see how it would compare to the one in Münster. The seating outside is nice and there are plenty of tables. It was very crowded there so we had to sit outside. Which was good and bad. It was cold but luckily they had blankets and candles which helped a little. It was good because it was soooo warm inside and the music was just way too loud. I ordered my go to which is Geissbock and a Pound of sweet potato fries. The burger is so good with the bacon, fig, onion, feta cheese. Just goes so well together. And the sweet potato fries were also very good. You get a special dipping sauce and we tried the Avocado which was good but didn't go so well with the fries. Great burger place!

Their menus are quite different, featuring different local fare. Grosser has a page dedicated to a raw fish delicacy which we did not try. Grosser also prides itself on its vegan options. It sources its meat and vegetables from long-standing farming relationships. It even makes the point that it washes and irons its own napkins instead of outsourcing to a laundry in order to be more environmentally friendly. Kleiner noticeably uses a lot more soft furnishings: tablecloths, napkins, curtains, etc. Both meals were really good but Grosser's meal tonight is closer to my own tastes with more fresh vegetables in the minestrone soup and lots of mushrooms in the pasta and meatloaf (jagerhackbraten). The house beer is the bierbowle. The second beer was an herb beer featuring strawberries! For dessert, we had the damencreme in contrast with the herrencream from Kleiner. The damencreme's custard was flavored with aniseed. Instead of rum, it had amaretto and instead of dark chocolate, it has white chocolate.

The outdoor courtyard is busy, but the waiters are attentive and the chairs are comfy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly- tender but still firm. The flavor is what captured my attention. Clearly it was cooked in salt and a bit of sugar, but something else brings an incredible depth. Schnitzel was just the right thickness. I know that the correct way to serve is pounded almost newspaper thin with waves of breading exposing the interior. This isn't that. Instead you have a tender piece of meat with great flavor and golden brown. The potatoes were plentiful, similar in size, snd tossed in butter. The hollandaise was unctuous and just the right amount for this generous portion. Finally, the rose was chilled perfectly and a generous pour. The decaffeinated coffee was accompanied by a tiny pitcher of milk and a cookie. Delicious end to an incredible meal. Must go!

We tried on 2 separate occasions with a group of 4 several months apart (once on a Sat and once on a Mon) to get breakfast here and both times they were 'out of breakfast' at 1015 (it is served until 11) but no one bothered to inform anyone who was waiting at the reception for over 1/2 hour. It seems like people want to give this place a chance as there are always people in line but they can't handle anything but a small crowd and there are no communications about the wait or even if they will stop service before published hours. I gave the atmosphere a 4 because it is a great view and if you show up in the afternoon it is a smaller crowd but they only offer cake and drinks. So it if is breakfast you want you better show up early or if not, you are better off going to some other excellent bakeries / cafes in the area and coming back here in the afternoon for cake and a view. I'm not going to ever try for breakfast here again.
