5/21/25 Title: Disappointed and Frustrated with This Firm's Lack of Follow-Through I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Haeggquist & Eck, LLP. Earlier today, I received a call from Mary around 5 PM to complete an intake regarding a very serious matter. I made it clear that I currently have an open EEOC investigation and have already received my Right to Sue letter from the Civil Rights Department. Despite providing detailed and specific information during the call, I received a generic email just two hours later (at 7:22 PM) stating that the firm unfortunately cannot take my case. I find it incredibly disheartening and unprofessional to go through a thorough intake process only to be dismissed so abruptly. If a law firm isn't prepared to represent clients with active EEOC cases and Right to Sue letters, that should be made clear upfront -- not after wasting someone's time and emotional energy. Now that the case is done and settled, I would say find someone else that will genuinely fight for you. I had to push them to fight for every nickel and dime. They advised me to take a much lower number than where the settlement ended at on multiple occasions. Only because I kept pushing and declining the low ball offers did we get a higher settlement number. They were not always transparent either. Then I received an email from them saying they can't take my case with no reason, and they also said in the email. "This doesn't mean you still shouldn't take action on your claim." They clearly believe they are above everyone and don't give a shit about helping people. I have a serious case but they judged me on the nature of the claim, which is bull cause in all reality, I AM the victim. I wouldn't recommend asking this firm for help! Trust me. The Detail - This review is long overdue, in large part because of the difficulty I've had with finding the right words and with being concise in the expression of my appreciation of Alreen. Rarely does a pleasant event trigger the need for an attorney, and rarely are attorney services sought during times of harmony: winning the lottery is the exception that comes to mind. Like most, then, my need was triggered by something adverse: i.e., I was being sued, and the suit was totally unexpected. Needless-to-say, my stress level went through the roof. I found Alreen the typical way. No, not through Yelp or Craig's List, but by referral from friends and colleagues. Alreen was highly regarded by those whom I highly regard, and that was enough for me. Although my expectation was, thus, rather high, when I engaged Alreen professionally I hadn't expected just how professionally engaged Alreen would be. Near-perfect, in fact, would be an accurate descriptor, in how Alreen balanced being quite clear and frank about my legal issues with being genuinely concerned and empathic toward my plight. Was the situation immediately resolved? Of course not! We all know that the wheels of justice turn ridiculously slowly. Still, probably due to the above, I was able to both literally and emotionally transfer my legal issues to her care. Accordingly, my stress-level reduced to being very manageable, and it remained quite low (in fact, imperceptible) throughout the entire legal process. As it turned-out, Alreen did handle my matter both effectively and efficiently. In my case, too, the initial retainer came exceptionally close to covering my ultimate outlay: a rarity for most professions/services and especially so for services within the legal arena.
