This is a small old hotel, built of stone, as are most of the other buildings in this village. Floors are a little bit uneven, as one might expect in an old structure. The room I was in was a nice size, with 2 single beds. Unfortunately, the beds were somewhat lumpy and not very comfortable. The hotel is within a few feet of the road, and there's quite a bit of traffic considering the size and location of the village. Try to arrange for a room at the back, or bring earplugs. Although not listed on their website, wifi is available.
There's a good pub downstairs with a small assortment of beer on tap. As can be expected, this is the de facto hangout for the village. There's a large assortment of menu items, and even more listed as specials on a board. I chose roast leg of lamb, which was quite delicious. It came with a large complements of side dishes: stuffing, a large roasted potato, beans, lots of boiled vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and red cabbage), and a hollowed out roll filled with brown gravy, so one could dunk or pour as you prefer. The quality of the lamb was excellent; that of the rest was average. On the whole, I would say this was reasonably priced. My meal came to 9 pounds (about $14), beverages extra.
A full English breakfast is included, very good and very filling. Just what's needed to start a full day's activities. read more
