I have been dealing with Rudd and his team of experts for about 10 years and the service that I…read morereceive is always top notch . All his counter people are experts and know their products . The delivery service is always on time and eager to lend a hand. All and all we would never even think of dealing with any other company

From the owner: T.C. Murphy Lumber Company can be proud to be selling the worlds most renewable resource, lumber,…read moreat one end of its business and generating its electrical needs by using another renewable resource, water, at the other end. Adirondack ingenuity, hard work and a true respect for the environment can be used to sum up these real life historical events that have taken place at the mill creek dam. The mill was powered by a 21″ S. Morgan Smith Turbine that with a 17-foot head developed 59 horsepower. The water was brought into the mill through a large wood flume and pen stock. The flume was unusual in that four or five logs could be floated in and lifted at the same time with a jack rig, putting the logs onto the skids and ready to roll on to the carriage. In 1958, the wood flume and pen stock were very rotten. The turbine was worn out, and estimates for replacing it were over $6,000 for materials alone. This brought about the decision to pour a concrete wall that would seal off the flume and shut down the Saw Mill. For the first time in 131 years the land on the east side of the mill creek dam did not use the power of the water to operate machinery. This changed with George Van Voorhis III’s vision to use the energy from the dam to produce electricity for the Lumber Company. In 1979 the vision became a reality with the purchase of a 1933 S. Morgan Smith hydroelectric turbine that produces 95 horsepower.

The folks in the Brandon Ace Hardware are courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about their…read moreproducts. On several occasions they have ordered items from other stores that were not in stock, and directed me to products I didn't know existed after I described a problem. I have usually been waited on within a couple of minutes. And another plus: They don't shuttle you into into a corridor packed with candy, stuffed toys, and stupid stuff to wait while your children or grandchildren start whining for what is clearly a come-on. The Ace counter is right in front of you when you come in, and they'll answer a "Where is?" question on the spot. Thanks, everyone.

Liked it better before it became an Ace Hardware. Everytime I go in the place now 2 things happen;…read more1.) a clerk latches on to you so no browsing without feeling uncomfortable when they keep asking what can I find for you, and #2 there is always a problem at the register eliminating a quick trip. Either the bar code doesn't work or the wrong items were listed for a pick up in the lumber yard forcing another trip inside to change the receipt as in take the wrong off and put the right items on and then back to the yard with a corrected receipt and when you get the credit card bill the return of the wrong products isn't credited. Too bad that the entire staff changes often and I don't recognize any of the clerks as neighbors anymore. Yesterday I purchased a quart of Bondo and when I arrived home and opened it there was barely a pint but the charge was for a quart so I bought the same product for a bit less online and I got at least 3/4 of a quart. I have decided that using this store takes up to much of my time compared to the other hardware store in town which truly is get in and get out. Again missing the days of Bob and John and can only hope that the new management pulls the team together and I will try again in about 6 months.
