This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Odessa. My husband won't go anywhere else. I have to admit that I am frequently annoyed by the vendors going from table to table selling cheese, toys, flowers and the loud mariachi music. But, that's okay. I just tell them "no, thanks" and they move on. We love the Jalisco Special. Very delicious!!!! Our daughter lights the Daniella. The chips and salsa are also very good. The waiters are friendly and prompt. This is a popular place. We usually have to wait about 30 minutes for a table. read more

It smells like fabuloso so its like they are trying to mask the dirty smell and do not order a steak you get a strip lion with oz. prices. You would have to be drunk or drinking to enjoy this spot and not a word of English. Too bad this app does not allow to take stars because to be honest a star is too much to give them. Went there my first time and the service was really bad did not get service until i asked one of the table cleaners for a servent and I SAT AT THE BAR mind you there wasnt that much customers but a lot of empleyees, i gave it a second chance why not they just probably had a bad day weeks later i went back and i swear 20 plus workers more than the last time and only 3-5 were actualy doing there job. But other than that the food was great. But i wont be coming back to this location, would recomend the midland location. read more

Will never come back after being a regular. Walked in at 6pm Sunday March 10th. The hostess was too busy talking to someone to great us. Once he finally did, he spoke in Spanish. I simply said, "I don't understand what you're saying". He then replied, "what you want me to speak English or what?" I replied, "yes". Then he proceeded to say, "well you're in a Mexican restaurant" Bitch first of all. Do you know where you're at? You're in the US. Don't get upset when someone doesn't understand Spanish in the US. I'll give 2 stars because the waiter was very friendly and kept asking if we were ok. We ordered beer and chips and guacamole to start. Let me tell you, if the guacamole doesn't taste like avocado and it taste like a onion.. that's our sign that food wasn't going to be that good. I didn't want my fiancé to waste $80 on food and at the end we didn't enjoy the simple guacamole. We finished our beer and asked for the bill. 2 beers 1 guacamole " not big" $20. Gave this place two tries with different dishes, it wasn't all that bad but the I will not return for food. Maybe a quick beer, but that's about all the value I see in this establishment. The drinks are decent, except our oyster shot, too much salt on the rim which fell into the drink making it insanely salty. Service is very quick, but you must speak to them in Spanish. So if you're not looking for an authentic experience, and want them to speak English this place definitely isn't for you. Shrimp cocktail is very bland as well as the ostiones ahogadas(definitely not fresh). The ostiones were supposed to be marinated in a aguachile rojo sauce which tasted like lots water, very little tomato juice, bottled lemon juice and about a 1.8/10 spice mixture, sin sabor y pico. Threw them a 20% tip as a parting gift even though the waitress never asked how the dish was, and ignored it sitting at the end of the table for about 10 minutes. DO NOT ORDER OYSTER FROM HERE! We ordered a good amount of raw oysters here tonight. We had dinners here before and it was never that bad. But this is unacceptable, most oysters were not alive when fresh, these are dead oysters that is a health hazard to consume! As you can see from the pictures these are not to be consumed any way. This is disgusting and very terrible quality. For almost $100 worth of food that went into the trash, from a big restaurant too. Other places would have fresher foods and better preparation. There are plenty of more seafood places in town, and restaurants that probably serve you more safer food. read more

Our first visit was last Friday night, 9/11, and we loved it. All three of us loved our plates. Service was excellent and the food was excellent. We loved the fresh homemade tortillas. The salsa was enjoyably spicy without numbing your mouth and the queso was delicious. We will definitely be returning. read more

Had lunch at Hacienda Vieja today and it was excellent. This is a recently renovated place serving slightly more upscale Mexican fare than many places in town. I came in before noon on a Friday and was seated quickly, though I hear they really get busy in the evenings. My server was friendly and brought me my seafood fajitas very quickly and they were outstanding! The grilled fish fillets, shrimp, scallops and crab were perfectly cooked and still sizzling atop a platter of delicious bell peppers, onions & tomatoes. I was alone, but there was enough for two! I was going to leave the sides alone but after seeing Stephanie's mean-spirited review I gave them a try and found the rice and beans to be fine, just what I would expect. The chips and salsa were good, too. As I ate I noticed the place filling up for lunch, so I guess the word is getting out. If you live or pass through Odessa and haven't yet tried Hacienda Vieja, give it a try! I did, and I am already looking forward to my next visit. read more

So this meal was not the greatest. Steak very tender, but need more seasoning. Beans and rice were ok. I expected more traditional flavor, but didn't get it. Server was quick fast and accurate with our order. The barbcoa was also the same. It did not have alot of flavor. I think 3 stars is very accurate for this place. Great service, good food, but the draft beer could have been colder and the guacamole was old. They charged me a service fee for using my card- they have a small unnoticeable sign on the counter- when I asked what the extra fee was that was on my credit card reciept the hostess just waved her hand at her little sign on the opposite end of the counter from where we were standing. Passing your own business cost of credit cards off on your customers is ridiculous, especially considering they charge more than what it costs them. read more

Holy smokes! I haven't had Mexican food this good in a very long time! Everything was perfect!!! Establishment was very clean, was seated and served promptly, restrooms were clean as well! Chips were warm and delicious! The salsa was perfection! Oh and don't get me started on the delicious queso blanco! Our server was friendly and kept our drinks full. I got a simple meal with crunchy beef tacos w/ beans and rice. It was fabulous! Meat wasn't greasy and dripping out of the shell- yay! We eat at the Midland Hacienda Vieja pretty regularly but this was our first experience at the Odessa location. Let me start by saying they both have a couple of fatal flaws when it comes to a pleasant dining experience: 1) they allow beggars to come around to your table to ask for money or to sell you stuff. I am typically very quick to give money normally, but soliciting me while I am paying to dine out crosses the line. 2) they allow a mariachi band to go table to table in an effort to play for tips. Not hating on the music, but it's entirely too loud to make for a pleasant dining experience. My husband and I could not carry on a conversation for 90% of the time we were there and finally left before finishing my meal. I measured over 100 decibels while they were playing. Absolutely ridiculous. Now, as far as the food, we've always had good food in Midland all but one time. That time all of the food for all 4 people at the table came cold. Refrigerator cold, not it's-been-sitting-in-the-window-too-long cold. My food in Odessa today wasn't cold, but the meat obviously wasn't cooked today. The shrimp, chicken, and fajita beef was all rubbery and tasted bad, so I'm certain it was reheated. Based on that and the cold experience in Midland, I think it's common practice to reheat food at these 2 locations. read more

My oldest daughter ordered fish tacos and they had a strong fishy smell. They didn't taste good either. My youngest ordered the ceviche and of course no flavor. They have a good menu with lots of choices. The service is good, the food is definitely above average and I come often. BUT, recently they started adding a service charge to any party of 6 or more. They also will not seat parties of 6 or more unless all are present. Since I often brought my staff here (6 people of course), this doesn't allow us to be seated if someone is running late. Also I've never understood why you charge a service fee for larger parties. If the service is good, the server would make a better tip IF it wasn't included on the bill. Heard of this restaurant from word of mouth. I ordered a plate of 4 mini tacos that came with charro beans and rice. DELICIOUS. Staff was very welcoming and kind. Well, I'm not impressed. I guess I'm picky when it comes to Mexican food. I expect it to be tasty. This was by far not. First I had to order tacos and rice as individual items because they don't have a plate. My husband ordered enchiladas... Food was bland and cold. The service was fast and friendly but not something I will want to come back to. The decor is great. You can certainly tell someone spent a lot of time and money on it. The restrooms were dirty and the trash cans in the stalls were overflowing with toilet paper. Its advertised as a sports bar, but it's far from it. I most likely will not return. The food was very nasty. The salsa was spoiled you could tasted the spoiled tomato in it. My carne asada was raw and my enchilada was deplorable. Flour tortillas undercooked and very heavy. I had eaten at the one in Midland before but this one in Odessa is horrendous. As a Latina I am embarrassed they state it's authentic Mexican food, but it's not. I have no idea what that nasty food was, but it lacks a lot to be called authentic Mexican food. Paid for the food but didn't eat it. Threw away $68.00....an expensive waste. read more

Really good dinner! This is not a chain, which I liked. We were seated immediately by friendly staff, even though they were nearly packed. Our waiter gave us fabulous service. Refilled chips and tea quickly, without bring asked. Best chips I've eaten in a long time. Salsa was pretty good but not the best. We got amazing guacamole for tapas. My husband ordered ribeye and enchilada dinner. Tons of food! I got the kids' beef fajita quesadilla. I'd have called it a beef fajita taco. It had good rice and fries. Not really Mexican food, but that's my fault because they're pandering to today's picky kids. My dish was $3.99. Awesome! I was stuffed!! My husband said his was great, too. I recently moved to Texas from LA. On my first visit my husband brought me here and the service was well . I wasn't content where they sat us but we had been waiting for over an hour . The food was descent . About a month after we had family visiting from Ca and decided to bring them here. This was on a Friday during brunch time. The host was a "gentleman" and decided to take us to a far end table next to the kitchen/ waiters area. I kindly asked the host/waiter if he can sit our family somewhere else (there wasn't much people during this time). He asked where would I like to sit, I respond somewhere away from the kitchen/waiter area. My husband then asked if we can be somewhere where there was more ambience. The host/ waiter respond to my husband, " tenga los menús siéntese donde quiera" he literally shove the menus to my husband with such a rude attitude. I was so surprised by this mans service to us we said to him no thank you we are leaving and he responded "como quieran" . I want to then speak to a manager but we were all so angry by the way we were treated by this man. I wished I new this mans name to let his manager know that was no way to treat customers. We only want to bring our family here for a nice Mexican meal. This man ruined it . Haicienda Viejo's owners/managers please share this to your servers/staff as an example of what not to do with customers. read more
