I looooove H2Yoga!!!Sue is great and very professional. I have been taking prenatal classes and it saved me from sciatica, constant swelling and overall tiredness. Your body feels weightless and you are doing bump friendly exercises that are definitely helping your butt,thighs and torso to stay in shape. Unfortunately I had to stop coming because I am not driving due to recent car accident.But I had 5 classes left that I purchased before.. So Sue extended my expiration date till next summer.So nice of her!...I am planning to come back as soon as I can after the baby arrives! Can't wait to start H2Yoga again and get back to my normal body size... About some comments here that the workout is too slow: you gotta do exactly like the instructor says and it won't seam slow anymore.The exercises are very specific and have to be done right.Good thing Sue always explains great and makes sure everyone gets it. Also think about the fact that when you are in water your body is already spending calories to keep your body temperature,which means you are burning calories in double. I took Sue's 930pm class (beginners) and after reading all of the other Yelpers reviews I think what is truly missing is a clear picture of what actually HAPPENS in class rather than reviews of personal injuries and emotional platitudes that honestly are inspiring but will not help the wider community of individuals who just want to know what they're getting into. For one, this class really should NOT be labeled h2o YOGA. But rather better served as a water MOVEMENT and stretch class. As no traditional Yoga poses instructions (Asanas) such as Warrior, Half Moon, etc. are used. Instead she has uses her own vocabulary like Frogs pose that you must decipher. These instructions can be difficult to hear because of the splashing and swimming noise from the lap pool 8 feet away. This was at "quiet time" so I cannot imagine how awful this would be during peak hours with an entire swim team practicing next to you. The heated pool is shallow so you are at most neck deep at times. Each person is given two pool noodles and leg and wrist weights. However these aren't actual weights that you see in the gym but rather they are more like miniature life jackets wrapped around your limbs. The arm sequence was incredibly uncomfortable and did not resemble Yoga poses unfortunately. For example, you are told to hold the noodles apart, then overlap the noodles, then push the noodles underwater. If you have ever tried shoving pool noodles underwater for several minutes at a time, you know annoying it is, even if it a slight workout. Especially when Sue keeps telling you to "stop relying" on your arms, even though she is telling you to hold flotation noodles underwater...with...your arms. Though I did see in the promo photos of people doing tree pose underwater (which is what I was absolutely hoping for, the same wonderful Asanas but with less weight) That was not the case during my class. Instead it was the repetitious noodle sequence of: hold noodles apart, push noodles together, push noodles underwater. Again hold noodles apart, push noodles together, push noodles underwater. We did this sequence ad nauseam throughout the entire class. And though you could argue some of the same muscles may be used, so many poses execute best when you are at least in contact with a solid surface with some light gravity and resistance. For example, her "child's pose" was basically you bending your knees at your chest while holding the pool noodles. Some poses did not translate or were unrecognizable and labeled with her own vocabulary. And to be frank, I feel I did not get any sort of cardio, stretch or strengthening workout. If you are hoping to utilize this as an alternative, less weight bearing preparation for a regular yoga class, this is not it. This was more a water movement and stretch class for those who truly cannot do other forms of exercise and just want to rediscover movement again without the fear of going to a traditional gym. So why the two stars? This is where I felt there was severe lack of attunement. I have extremely low blood pressure (genetics) which means I get cold VERY quickly. I was forced to stand outside of the 90 degree therapy pool with my teeth chattering and shivering violently at the beginning of class while she gives me instructions. I tell her, "I am freezing may I at least stand in 3 feet of water while you give me instructions because my teeth are chattering so loudly I literally cannot hear you." She denies me flat out and says, "You can get in after I give you the instructions" and then continues on as if it was nothing. These lower back instructions could have easily been given while my legs are in water. So I am standing there in a dripping wet bathing suit, teeth chattering, lips blue while she herself was dressed in winter clothing: long pants, a long sleeved zip up, a beanie (ski hat), and UGG boots. Even though I am visibly distraught and verbally told her so. She denies me once again from entering the pool because I was still not doing the lower back movement right. At this point, I do not care what I am doing "right", I am just trying to avoid catching a cold!! And this is my first time, I may not catch on from your 5 minute speech. And no, this was not a question of safety if I didn't get this right away. As a first timer she tells me to follow other classmates as my guide. Great! However, I was placed in the front row with all of the other classmates behind me and no one next to me. So unless I had eyes on the back of my head, this was not impossible. Even when I was able to see the other classmates, you are chest deep in water so you cannot actually "see" clearly what movements they are doing unless your head is underwater with goggles. The lack of attunement, poor class set up and no resemblance to Yoga made me pass on this. But I encourage others to check it out and see for yourself. Prenatal sounds like it'd be great. read more

As a woman living with MS (multiple sclerosis) for the past 15 years, I continually search for techniques to improve my symptoms. I was so excited to purchase the Groupon for these classes! They were so beneficial (I exit each session with improved gait!!), that I purchased additional ones with a discount they offer. H2y0ga is a great workout for all levels!!! Using high density noodles & wrist & ankle resistance "weights", it challenges everyone as much or as little as you want. Water is great for mobility for all conditions, arthritis, lupus, etc... The classes are held in a warm (ohhh), SALT water (more natural, less chemicals), therapeutic pool. Sue is a dedicated, thorough, knowledgeable teacher with many instructional years to her credit. H2Y0ga is the fusion of calming effects of peaceful water with the intentional focus & strengthening of yoga. read more

I've been taking classes at H2yoga for a few months now, and I can't recommend them highly enough! The classes are a combination of cardio, stretching, and mental focus plus the exercise is lower impact because of the water. Sue is a great teacher who cheerfully and patiently customize her instruction to match each student's current needs and abilities. In addition to general improvements in flexibility and strength, I was delighted to discover that an old shoulder injury is completely resolved now! Totally worth the drive :) read more

I have chronic knee pain (having broken my knee years ago) and H2yOga has been a great way for me to get active again. This is a surprisingly good core workout for me, and the warm saline pool is great. I leave feeling oddly relaxed and energized at the same time. The facility is clean and parking is free. The class is a body positive and free of judgement. I usually attend Monday at 9:30 pm. It seems to consistently start late, and run late. For the most part, I don't mind. H2yOga has been a fantastic intro to yoga. I'd actually never tried yoga on land, so had the benefit of not trying to mentally translate the poses I'd learned on land to those in the water. I am SO glad that I bought this on Groupon, and will definitely continue to take classes with Sue after those classes are used. They offer beginner classes, prenatal classes, as well as some more advanced classes. read more

At the encouragement of my OBGYN, I started attending the prenatal H2yOga classes when I was about 7 1/2 months pregnant. I'm so glad I listened to my doctor. At 40 weeks, my daughter was born, weighing 10 lbs 2 oz!!! I had a normal delivery with minimal complications and am healing well and fairly quickly. I attribute a lot of this to the prenatal workouts and centering exercises from these amazing water yoga classes. Sue is also a wonderful teacher - she's extremely knowledgeable about the benefits of aquatic exercise, especially as it pertains to prenatal care, not to mention she's a lovely and caring person who's fun to be around. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Sue is great. She gives constant feedback, runs around the class and helps guide each individual as to technique of the movements and always takes a moment before each class to ensure everyone is feeling well. She offers modifications on everything based on injuries or weakness. Great instruction! Additionally, it has done wonders for me. I am a crazy spin cyclist and for years my muscles have tightened and shorted due to my crazy cardio obsession. Stretching is often painful and boring. I should do it more. Additionally, because my day job is behind a keyboard for very long hours I experience wrist pain from traditional yoga but hunger for the health benefits. H2yoga allows me the ability stretch out without pain, build my arms and wrist muscles without discomfort. My hip flexors are worlds better. I still get the yoga centered meditation and get to start my day floating in 80 degree water. I love it. Great benefits and the early and late times are the best for my work schedule. read more

I am 8 months pregnant and just started taking the prenatal classes. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I LOVE these classes. I wish there were more offered. The classes are tailored to us, so we get special treatment in working out whatever kinks we came in with. The exercises in the prenatal classes are low impact, and Sue takes care to adjust us as needed. She also knows a great deal about the body, and it translates in the exercises that she has us doing. Additional plus is the saline therapy pool which is phenomenal to move in. read more

I found H2yOga through Yelp when looking for gentle exercise options during pregnancy. The prenatal classes have been amazing for dealing with back and hip pain during my twin pregnancy. The warm pool really feels amazing for the pregnant body. The bonus is that Sue is so knowledgable--it almost felt like going to physical therapy with her description of different muscles and anatomy that we were addressing. So glad I found these classes and had this gentle movement option when I wasn't able to do my typical routine during pregnancy. read more

This was definitely an interesting experience I have to say. There is a learning curve, please keep that in mind when you go. The first class, I was horrendous, I couldn't find my balance anywhere, just horrible. My 2nd class, I was so much better. Sue is really good at helping you out, explaining what to fix. I'm a huge fan of water yoga. Starting out the day in warm saline water is just the best feeling. Sue's a terrific instructor, and if you can listen to her super clear instructions, you're well on your way. The water and the breathing are invigorating and relaxing at the same time. After an hour in the water, I feel stretched out and worked out. Be warned, that your arms will feel like noodles after the first few classes, which means..they are waking up and getting toned. I have been suffering from back problems for over a year and recently had surgery to replace a disc. This is the only exercise I can do that doesn't irritate my lower back. Go with THIS flow! I never would have guessed that yoga in the water would prove to be simultaneously the easiest and most challenging form I have ever practiced. Easy for several reasons: The warm water feels cocoon-like and comforting in a way that I am certain is connected to some deep, visceral memory of being in the womb. Being buoyant and weightless in the pool gives me a confidence I have always lacked to some degree in traditional land-based yoga, which I feel allows me to let go and get deeper into my practice. On top of this, the instructor, Sue, is easily one of the most positive, supportive yoginis I have had the pleasure of studying with. She sets the tone for the class and always makes me feel as though I can push myself to my personal limit in a safe environment. Lest I give the impression that this is effortless, I want to talk about the challenging part. Being in the water means I am engaging my core in a way I have never had to do with other forms of exercise, including Pilates. This is something you feel in a big way after your first few classes, but the benefits are many. My body feels stronger, my back feels less stressed, and my abs are thanking me. I've recently started taking Acqua Yoga classes with Sue and I love it. I have started feeling a lot better & sleeping better since starting it. Not only do I feel more relaxed, but it also has helped with prior health issues. She pays a lot of attention to each student which is great because she helps with the posture and manner of doing the exercise to ensure that you're doing it properly. Sue's a great teacher. I simply adore Sue and her classes. Sue has created the concept of water & yoga. I got to my first class thinking I was the most fit there but the water turns your practice on its head and completely becomes a whole new thing. I totally "suck" at it but I love it and look forward to it every week. When Sue sees you struggling, her advice is to "suck" and let it go. The most relaxing workout I have had in a long time. Sue is an amazing instructor, she is very patient, her instructions are very clear and she repeats multiple times so that everyone is able to follow. She even helps you after class if you have concerns or doubts. The first class was very challenging and I was all over the place, but the second one was much better, I started loving it. Love, love, love this class! I'm 8 1/2 months along and I've been taking since 5 months. It helps immensely. Being in water is amazing in pregnancy. It's such a relief to have the water support you and just kind of let everything go. It helps with low back pain, leg swelling and pressure on the hips, etc. It's also great for ladies who develop carpal tunnel during the pregnancy. Not to mention we do get a good workout. Harder than I thought it would be altho some days I back off depending on how I'm feeling. & Sue totally supports that. Sue is awesome and she intuitively knows what kind of class to lead based on the needs of the group. She creates a really relaxing atmosphere and talks you thru everything. Even if you're not completely comfortable in the water, not to worry; you're held up by noodles the whole time and the pool isn't more than 4 1/2 feet deep. This class has been such a blessing. I love Sue's classes. I came in with a back injury and after a few weeks felt marked improvement. Floating in the warm water is so therapeutic, and the stretching and strengthening moves helped heal me right up. I started with the Groupon deal and am now a loyal regular. Sue is absolutely great. She's a good instructor and pays attention to your individual needs, providing you with feedback and adjustments if a particular pose is too hard for you. Her instruction makes it easy to figure out what muscle you're supposed to be working and how you should be moving it. Water yoga is calming and, while it's good exercise (especially for the arms), it's gentle on the body. It was particularly good for me as I was in physical therapy at the time for knee problems and the water took the pressure off my knees. Parking is easy--there's a free lot next to the school. The only thing that can be a little confusing is that it has two stories that are accessed separately. Can't recommend enough! read more

I came to a first class with a sore and achy back, and feet that were hurting from plantar fascitis. After the first class I slept better than I had in a while. I woke up refreshed and my lower back felt great the next morning. Having gotten out of touch with my self and body, in the last five years, I'd come to dread exercise, and because of weight gain, and old injuries (from the 80's aerobic flailings) and working a high stress job for years, my body and I have been at war. I've been taking yoga classes and pilates, and they are great too, but the way I feel from doing H2Yoga After two weeks, I feel like I can't get enough. My stress melts away after the class, and the poses, which are adapted to the water, really allow me to target the core muscles in a way I can't do on land. After two weeks of taking classes, my body is starting to feel like it belongs to me again. At first I didn't think it would be as much of a workout, but with the personal attention and education that Sue Gisser provides, I am able to target core muscles and build strength instead of relying on my other muscles and without straining. Being in the wam saline pool provides a sense of bouyancy and flexibility which reduces the effects of stress and pain on my joints. I would recommend this for anyone who needs to relieve stress, reconnect with their body, or just supplement their regular workout. Working out in the pool leaves me with a sense of well being and relaxation. I've had both Sue and Patricia as instructors, and they are welcoming, warm and friendly. So are the people in the class. Also, the Lenny Krazelburg swim academy is an unpretentious and family friendly environment. read more

Pregnant lady review here, and if you're pregnant do yourself a huge favor and SIGN UP for these Pre-natal classes. I feel so fortunate to have found Sue and these classes early in my second trimester and I can confidently say that they have saved my back, my belly and have had a huge impact on helping my balance. I'm now 7 months pregnant with twins and the extra weight is really inhibiting regular exercise. I live for the 2 to 3 classes I attend weekly. You get in the pool and as you float on noodles you feel weightless. The pressure on joints are gone and you actually get to work your core and stretch out those pesky round ligaments that can make you miserable. Plus you get a workout. It is such a supportive environment and you're surrounded by other women who are in the same boat. I'm planning to keep taking classes right up until my doctor tells me to stop... and then I'll be back after to help recuperate. And Sue... she's the best! read more

I usually like more fast pace work out, but with my stress at a record high I decided to take a few classes to just destress, but ive found in addition to reducing my stress, these classes are a great work out! Sue is so sweet and really takes time to help and explained the moves to you especially during your first classes. I like that the classes are either very early or later in the evening because it's tough when have crazy work hours to make classes either right before work or immediatly after work. If you are even slightly interested in taking a lass you should try it! And the classes are reasonably priced! I even got a discount because I originally got a groupon now deal for my 1st class! read more

I don't write many reviews on yelp, I tend to use it mostly to help find out about other venues but this is something I had to write about. You can't get it anywhere else but here and if you are like me you probably thought it was a strange concept...but for me as a Pilates Instructor and a fan of yoga I was very intrigued when I heard about water yoga. I've gone several times and every time I go I never want it to end! First, Sue has done an amazing job developing this workout, you can tell she has thought through every movement. I always arrive slightly still asleep but I leave more awake then any caffeine in a cup of coffee could do. I literally feel energized from the inside out! Feeling stronger then when I left the last time. I always say I do yoga for the Shivasana but when you do shivasana in the water....you'll wish you could always do it there! Words can't describe the feeling when you leave each class. Throughout the day simple movements will remind me that I was there that morning which helps remind me of my intention for the day. I've told so many friends of mine about it since its a really great workout for those who have a hard time with regular yoga. The water really changes the muscles used and you don't have the same joint pressures that "land yoga" produce. This is something everyone must experience for themselves!! read more

AMAZING!!! Having severe arthritis , nothing worked, meds, steroid injection, physical therapy.. etc etc. Tried Susan's fabulous water yoga.. . With any workout, you'd expect to feel pain after using unused muscles..Just the opposite..you walk away feeling loose and pain free...and it lasts for hours. I highly recommend it for many reasons. Told my med doctor and he said " Love it" and is anxious to recommend it to all his pain filled patients. MUST TRY!!! read more

H2yOga is as good as it gets. I'm a 71-year-old woman who has never stuck with any exercise program besides Yoga for over a year before in my entire life. Back surgery and other physical issues had stopped me from trying a lot of things but when I first stepped into the warm saline pool I knew I had found my haven. I attend the 7am Friday class every week and H2yOga is the best thing I can do for myself on so many levels. It's good for the body and for the soul. This is not only a wonderful work out but also a therapeutic experience. I drive all the way from the Valley to get this wonderful work out. Some mornings I find it hard to wake up but once I think about the mood and energy I get from the class I jump up and rush out the door. I highly recommend this to everyone. I've tried all sorts of exercise classes: yoga, Pilates, aqua aerobics, Zumba, Curves and so on. I'm one of those people that gets bored real fast with the same routine during class. The one time I tried yoga, it wasn't a good experience. When I saw the opportunity to try H2yOga, I was cautiously optimistic. I love the water and enjoy swimming but I wasn't sure about the yoga part. But all my fears were put to rest during my first class. Sue, our instructor, is amazing, She is very good at explaining the moves, helping students make adjustments when needed and making the class fun. She is always encouraging us to smile while working out! Granted, my first class was the most difficult (it takes time getting used to working with the floaties & noodles) but it's a small learning curve. I like the fact that the classes are small and the facility is decent, (showers, changing rooms, free parking). I've been going to H2yOga since July and have tried a majority of the classes offered. I really like the having the early morning classes as an option as my nights tend to fill up first. Take it from me - if you stick with this program, you will definitely find inner and outer strength. read more
