I have been here several times and I used to be a part of the West Wickham Pantomime Society and this was the venue for our panto's. The Royal Berkshire Conference Centre offers meeting rooms, executive suites, and lounges for business meetings and events. What better place to hold a team-building event than at a sports stadium? There is even an aptly named Princess Suite with a lounge area that overlooks the courtyard of the Millennium Madejski Hotel; this is the largest room, holding up to 400 people, and often chosen for weddings. Not really my style, but it probably works perfectly for someone else. I'm giving the Conference Centre an extra star because I'm just plain impressed.

The Hexagon's shape isn't the important issue here though, what's important is whether it was a good venue for Alexa G and I to learn about science and fawn over Brian Cox and Ben Goldacre. And the answer is YES. This theatre might have been tricky to find in the first instance, but it's handily located for Reading Central train station and a good few local amenities. The bar is expensive as hell, but aren't they all in theatres? Meanwhile the venue lends itself very well to performances of all kinds. The great thing about the Hexagon is that even if you're in the nosebleeds like we were, you're still not actually far away from the stage. It's small enough to be intimate yet large enough to hold a decent amount of revellers. While it seems a little dated in places, overall it harbours a pleasant atmosphere... and the bathrooms are pretty well maintained, which is always nice when you're spending your hard-earned on entertainment. Overall, I'd be more than happy to attend another show at the Reading Hexagon. Four enthusiastic stars to it!

I didn't think it was lit up very well from the outside - we parked in a multi storey right next to (more luck than judgement!) but had to ask directions. The rooms were "cosy" so plan on spending more time in the common spaces or nearby in town. Breakfast was varied although some colleagues wanted more. What're you gonna do? The other meals were apparently good, as I talked to others who enjoyed dinner immensely. The proximity to town is nice for the perfect-length pre/post-dinner walks, and Thames Path being just behind the hotel ok allows for runs or strolls as far as you want to go. A little farther north or south will put you in two of Greater London's best parks. If you want to stay on-grounds to raise your heart rate, the exercise facility is one people pay high monthly rates to join. The pool is perfect and spacious, and you'll have all manner of what you'd expect to workout otherwise. I'm sure the grounds would be lovely in summer months, but you'll still have space to spread out indoors. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we'd enjoy our rumored return next year if it materializes.

Meaning I can't work out or feel bad about the steak I'd order from room service afterwards. This is a great hotel, and I've loved staying here for the most part. It's located about a minute walk from Earls Court underground, and is perfect for most things. The staff are lovely, the room is gorgeous with a nice big TV, a microwave and fridge just incase, and a very luxurious bathroom. To be honest I wouldn't have expected anything less from a Best Western Premier. The bed is ridiculously comfy, but unfortunately I was not 100% able to relish in this comfort. Due to the construction and renovation going on, I was woken up every morning around 9:30am to incessant and incredibly loud power drilling. You'd think they'd at least do it a bit later when people are more likely to be awake. I'd definitely stay here again though, just as long as the renovation was finishes so I could have a long lie!
