I stopped here before heading to my hotel to stock up, and save some money! It's a well managed/ well run business. All the staff is polite, answer all questions. The prices are decent for location and economy. And it has all your beach needs. When I got it, it wasn't as busy so they had a couple cashiers. Once they saw lines they opened up more cashiers AS THEY SHOULD. A lot of other groceries stores don't do that anymore. Although it's common sense I'm glad that cater to their customers. read more

Several of the things on my list were sold out/not restocked. Some prices are breathtakingly high - for example, over $4 for a small box of Shake-N-Bake. Workaround was to buy a box of generic Stove Top stuffing mix for $0.97 and grind it down in the blender into bread crumbs. I pared down/revised my list substantially. How I wish there were an Aldi in the area. Closest one is Corpus Christi. read more

I love this location, this is the first stop before getting onto the island to grab our groceries and other items for the stay on SPI. They've always had fresh fruit and vegetables and good stock of food. Customer service is always good and I've always ran into an associate that's willing to help look for an item. I'd prefer this grocery store than the Walmart down the street! read more

I am updating my review based on my curbside experience. Ever since curbside has been offered, I have used it on a very regular basis. Usually, I never have issues with items. However, this time, I checked my items before the person who handed them over left. I should have known better, but being in a rush due to carpooling from work, I placed my order, which included regular items I typically order for curbside and some cosmetic items. This is where I should been more cautious. I asked the young man where the cosmetic item was, and he opened the bag. I grabbed the item, telling him to let me check it, but before I could finish my statement, I saw that the product was horribly damaged. I asked him if I could return it to him, and he said yes. I then put the remaining items in my car, and drove off, expecting to receive an email with the receipt and refund. Unfortunately, I did not receive anything. I am so over it. I have been coming here for years, and one would think that when filling an order with items that can be easily tampered with in-store, the store associate should check the items, especially when orders include items that are not sealed. The refund was purged the morning after the order was completed. read more

I cant believe this HEB doesn't have its own seafood section like the HEB in Corpus Christi has and even some of the San Antonio stores have. All they have here is one tiny refrigerated bin about 6 foot by 6 foot that has some large fresh shrimp (pre-packaged and not that fresh that you still have to take off the shells and de-vein) and frozen shrimp from other countries. We were in Corpus last year and they had the Colossal shrimp. And no fresh fish either. Seems like it would be a win-win by HEB purchasing fresh seafood from the locals and having its own section like they do with the deli and bakery. read more

Woof! Very old, poorly stocked store. I'm pretty sure the Walmart nearby is much better stocked. I was shopping for Christmas dinner. I needed some butternut squash, not exactly an exotic item in December! The produce guy said, don't have any. Maybe tomorrow.... A little over a week ago, we were in from out of town for a memorial celebration. The florist we'd ordered flowers from canceled the order the day of the memorial - with no other florists available on such short notice. We spoke with Berta in the floral department and she graciously made two floral arrangements for us within an hour. We wanted daisies, but there were none. The arrangements Berta created with yellow and white Poms were so pretty, and so very appreciated. Berta was very kind and I believe she's an asset to this HEB store! The store was clean. It has a good selection of meats although the steaks that I bought were not very good. They had more organic options than I expected. They have a beach section with hats , umbrellas, snorkel masks, etc. nice bakery items too. It's the only full grocery store near SPI. read more

Food choices are great, clean store. Very organized. Checking out is terrible. You will see all these employees standing around in their shirt and slacks, while the other few real workers are checking and bagging. To many chiefs not enough Indians. Management has a social click. While the real workers work. And then when you ask one of these stand around managers holding their clipboard. They act insulted you would ask them to help you. Ugh. Variety of fruits with great prices. We were so excited to find pomelo here. They are super fresh with great prices. Pineapples are so cheap, less than one dollar ea. It's fruits and veggies are Much much better then the ones in blue marlin. Definitely worth the drive buy food here. read more

Store is very small and not well stocked. The produce was sub-par. Not a whole lot of variety in anything. The next day we found out that an employee tested positive for covid. GREEEAAATTTT. Enjoyed the help from the associates which I found to be well above par. Loved the display signs to each aisle. Was disappointed in the doggie treats. The two treats I chose for my 4 legged older dog were disapproved by him. Also tried to find a nailclipper. None were on the aisle designated for the clippers. Not 1 employee working the floor and when I asked the checker about a product he immediately said 'we don't carry that' before saying 'I've never heard of that.' So how does he know they don't carry it if he doesn't even know what it is? Interesting. He didn't offer to ask someone else and couldn't have cared less if we found what we needed. I get that this store practically stays slam packed with customers being the last big grocer before South Padre Island but please put a LITTLE effort into your job. It's not the HEBs in SA but this is the best grocer in the whole country. I haven't been to another that can top it. This store here is a bit small but still has all of the great HEB products and prices. The Meal Deals are awesome and the layout is logical and user friendly. read more

We shop here because we have had exceptional experiences at HEBs in McAllen and Edinburgh, but this store is pathetic. Produce is often spoiled, items like coffee creamer on the shelves are past expiration dates. When management is advised of this(literally shown the package) a week later the problem still persists. Apparently, the store has a lot of turnover (this is the excuse they give) and maybe the market isn't big enough for Corporate to give a flip. We're slowly making the migration to Walmart. read more

I have a complaint about the store in Port Isabel, TX. I'm writing about my experience in this H.E.B. with two visits in the past 10 days. We did major shopping on Thursday, January 3 spending $144+. We found almost everything we wanted. Generally speaking I like this grocery store and the employees, but I had to use the women's restroom. It was filthy. I tried my best not to touch anything. The store didn't have any antiseptic wipes at the entrance. Within 3 days, I started feeling sick. That cold/flu/whatever lasted 4 days before I started feeling better. We went to the H.E.B. store today, January 13. The restroom was even worse than it was on January 3. It looked like someone had vomited all over the walls. The outside of the stall doors were all streaked. The floors were covered with bits and strips of toilet paper. Perhaps they had been mopped, but with dirty water. I tried not to set my purse down on the floor because it was so disgusting. On both occasions, the cleaning cart was sitting outside the women's restroom door. I wonder if it had not been used or moved in the 10 days between my visits. I will never use the restroom in this store again! I would like to rate this store higher because the employees are friendly and helpful. I like this store, but I was so sickened by the appearance of the women's restroom, it makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the rest of the store. read more

This place is always crazy busy... and you can tell the staff tries very hard to keep everything moving smoothly. Jorge helped us out when the line was 20 people deep, super sweet, professional and very helpful. Love coming to a grocery store where the staff isn't rude and they're not lazy. Nice store but Port Isabel has a problem with milk storage. We're winter Texans and have had three gallons of milk go sour. One was bad upon opening it. We'll go to Walmart for milk. read more

I found that the selection in this grocery store and the sales were the best in the area. I found great deals on fruits and vegetables. There were a ton of 3 for $1 deals when I was there and I took advantage of this to the fullest. I was in the region only for vacation, but of all of the grocery places that I visited this was the best even though it is a large chain. read more

I live in North Austin and every heb there is always well thought out and a comfortable place to shop. This heb however is unorganized, crowded, and there is a lot of clutter throughout the store. The produce section was rough and several packages of grapes and strawberries had mold in them. Not my favorite place to shop. read more

Abe E. Saying HEB is the best grocer in the Country is quite a stretch. I have traveled the Country and find HEB stores a bit lacking in general. I live in Port Isabel and am constantly frustrated by having to ping pong between my only two grocery shopping choice of HEB or Walmart because neither one carries a very big selection. At least walmart carries basic mid westeren staples like barley and pumpernickel bread. HEB stocks their shelves as if it is only Mexican people who shop there. The Central Market line is great, too bad Port Isabel store doesn't carry more of it. If I have to drive all the way to Brownsville for a product, I will usually just go to Sams and stock up. read more

Let me start by saying I love HEB stores. However, this location is AWFUL. Check the dates on all products when shopping. I went to grab a Sam Adams seasonal 12 pack and stopped when I realized it was a winter seasonal with best buy June 2015 still in the cooler in July 2015. Then after arriving back at our condo, discovered mold on our bread on July 10, the bread having a best buy June 30th date. Grrrrr! read more
